I have been a patient of this practice for the past 4-5 years. I am also a patient who is very on top of cleanings and preventative care. However, after the incident that occurred this past weekend, I will be leaving the practice. Short version of the story is I had an office visit for a difficult tooth I needed to get pulled on Thursday. At that visit, I had an exam and x-rays taken. When I went to schedule the appointment to have the tooth pulled, I was told I would have to wait 3 weeks!!! Partially because of my work schedule and partially because they only pull teeth on Wednesdays ‍ despite having multiple dentists at the practice. I woke up with a tooth abscess on Saturday and called the office, knowing they would be closed. However, I knew I needed emergency antibiotics. The voicemail stated if you had an emergency to text the phone number provided. I texted the number and received no response. This means I had to go through the financial and time burden of missing work, being seen by another dentist, getting X-rays, and paying for this duplicate visit at another practice. When I called on Monday, the receptionist questioned which number I texted. Even though I have texted this number multiple times with insurance information etc. She claimed there were no messages; however, I have proof on my end that the text message went through. Although they claim to offer emergency services and tooth extractions, these services are very limited.

They did not even ask or make mention. Instead, they recommended Invisalign for $6000.00. This has never mentioned in any of my past dental appointments. Just did not really like the business practice here. I cancelled my future appointment and will not be going back. Very poor experience. I don't recommend Lynchburg Dental Group.

Then they acted like we should have known that anthem no longer covered this. I read an article that greatly shroud whether panoramic x rays should be done in addition to serial x rays. The article I read says panoramic images are prone to distortion and artifacts. It also stated that the amount of pathology discovered with panoramic vs serial xrays was negligible. The front office people were definitely not nice. Be sure when you book that you are clear what you want and ask them to let you know if they will be upcharging.
