So it was perfect that Phoenicia offered two different mezze mix plates--one with 8 cold mezzes, one with 8 warm mezzes. On the cold plate came tabbouleh (parsley salad), waraq enab (rice wrapped in grape leaves), hummus, muhammara, makdous (eggplant cured in oil), moussaka (eggplant cooked with tomato), hindbeh (cooked dandelion greens) topped with fried onions, and pickled cucumbers/radishes. The warm plate came with fattoush salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, radishes, peppers, pita chips), makanek (Lebanese sausages), jawaneh dajaj (chicken wings), toum (creamy garlic spread), falafels with tahini, and three different kinds of filled pastries (sambousek): ground lamb, spinach, and my favorite, two feta cheese rolls.
