We were patients of Dr. Li for about a year. During that time, she was great. She took her time, she clarified information, she listens to parents and really cares about children. An issue arose when she hired a new nurse and patient care snowballed downhill from there. It became near impossible to make an appointment. The nurse would answer the phone, you would ask for the next available appointment and she would tell you that she will call you back, and then never does. You would call again, and the same thing would happen until maybe 4 or 5 tries later when you're finally able to make an appointment for your child. Imagine after making the appointment, the nurse TEXTS you the morning of your appointment (which is in the morning) and tells you that the appointment you made a week ago has been cancelled. You call the nurse to ask for clarification and she says she'll call you back to make a different appointment. All of this after you've rearranged your work day so that you can bring your child to the doctor for their appointment. The nurse doesn't call you back. You go to the office for clarification of why your child couldn't be seen at their appointment time. I especially wanted clarification since it was near impossible to get the appointment in the first place. The nurse ignores you at the empty office. You ask Dr. Li if she has a moment in between appointments to speak with you and also inform her that you had an appointment today that was abruptly cancelled, and Dr. Li YELLS that she is too busy to talk to you at all today or in the future. You leave your child's pediatrician's office in tears after being yelled at by the doctor, ignored by the nurse, having your appointment cancelled via TEXT, and unable to receive a new appointment or clarification on why an appointment you made over a week was cancelled an hour before it was scheduled to take place. After this experience, I could never with any confidence recommend Dr. Li as a pediatrician. The incompetency of her nurse and her lack of any bedside manners is more than any parent should have to deal with when trying to get the best care they can for their little ones. I have never in life had an appointment that was set cancelled via text an hour before it was scheduled to take place. I also have never been regarded in the way Dr. Li's nurse treats her patients. If I were Dr. Li, I would absolutely let go of the problematic nurse. I doubt I'm the only patient she's lost since that nurse was hired. If I were Dr. Li, I would also mind how she herself treats and talks to patient's parents and when a parent quietly approaches to ask if she could spare time, even if that meant a phone call later in the day, to not yell at a parent in her office. It's demeaning and unnecessary. read more
