Although a brand new practice, Sprout hit the ground running with a staff of (at least) 15 personnel to include 3 physicians, 1 nurse practitioner, 9 registered nurses and 2 medical support staff. I would be willing to bet that in the very near future, they may likely be the area's most prominent pediatric team. The "founding four" members, physicians Suzette (Suzy) Kingston, Gabrielle (Gabby) Glasgow, Lauren Hernandez and nurse practitioner Kendall Connick, have worked together for the past 6-8 years and are an incredible team. These "superstars" have been practicing medicine for an average of 7 years (post residency) and Kendall earned her master's degree in nursing in 2015. I refer to them as superstars as not only are they top graduates, award winners, Chief residents, etc.; they also have the kindest demeanors of any physicians I can recall. Their bedside manners are second to none and they will put any child and their parents' minds at ease. They are thorough and take their time with their patients, so no matter how busy they are, you always feel like you are their most important patient. They are all mothers and know what it's like to be the parent of a sick child. My son has seen each and every one of them numerous times over the past several years and we trust each of them equally. Two of the nine nurses (Julie & Kathy) have also worked with the doctors for several years; therefore, it was pleasant to see so many familiar faces. However, if you are a new patient, you will soon feel part of the Sprout family in little to no time. The nurses and medical staff seem to share the "ethos" of the doctors, which is providing excellent care along with making the patients and their parents feel at home. The newly built out facility is absolutely gorgeous, impeccably clean and decorated in a friendly style that will certainly be pleasing to the kiddos. There is plenty of off-street parking in the lot and the waiting room can seat numerous people. Their website is top notch, and there is a patient portal, a link to pay your bills online as well as requesting an appointment online. I cannot imagine a finer facility or group of medical professionals.

I was having my first child, and like any over-joyed parent, I was preparing myself and seeking a…read morepediatrician; researching High and Low, I was between two practices [one very conventional, old school] before finally settling on Hales Pediatrics [non-conventional, new-age; see below for examples]. So many reviews wrote how elitist this practice was. I'm so glad I'm a person who forms their own opinion based on personal experience. If you have any doubts, schedule a visit, and go see for yourself. That's what I did; at my tour I received some literature which contained bios on each of the physicians in the practice, the packet of forms and a book for new moms on how to prepare for baby. Of those physicians, I personally opted to see Dr. Milvid. Although their were occasions when she wasn't available I saw others. Dr. Gorman is very good and friendly as well, she was the attending pediatrician at the hospital for my second child. The only negative, and I don't know if its any different now, but when I was having my son, the physicians of this practice did not perform circumcisions, it worked out for me that the other practice I was looking at did. So the other practice performed it, but ultimately I ended up bringing my son to Hales for his first doctor's appointment. If you are wondering what the deciding factor was for me in choosing Hales over the other practice, it was Office Administration. I didn't like how the administration handled my queries; they were attitudish, rude, impolite and crass. The doctor on the other hand was not, but before I get in to see the doctor I have to call the office, and that was just not something I was willing or able to do. The staff of ladies at Hales, have always been pleasant and courteous. However, there was/is one that I feel has personal feelings and seems to be prejudice, but she stands alone in that department. I have never felt it from any other member of the team. I can't completely say that this practice is all about the health of the child; it is a business, a medical one at that. They are in the business of making money, and you are flipping the bill so remember to utilize all the services they provide, if you need them. There were times my child(ren) were not feeling well, I didn't know what to do, I called the emergency line, the messaging center notifies the doctors, and the doctors call you back. Sometimes it can be up to an hour, but I have always received a callback. They are affiliated with Children's Hospital, so they will refer you to After-Hours Care in Metairie or the ER. Hopefully you will have a great an experience as we have. She has a primary pediatrician, but she's seen lots of doctors, as not everyone is in every day. I'd have to say that's my biggest complaint. I realize that it's a clinic, but there are times I'd like for her to be able to see the same doctor. The care we've received from the doctors has been good, although we had one visit a few years ago that still stings. Poor bedside manner from a doctor she only saw once, and unfortunately she was very sick at the time. Care was decent - just a really nasty personality when we both just needed some compassion. But I digress.... These days the wait isn't long at all and the front desk is friendly. I honestly think the practice has gotten better over time. The nurses are always friendly and I like that there's a computer in each exam room with all my daughters up to date information at their fingertips. One more big plus - the myOchsner website. Dr. Lewis was recommended to me when my daughter was born. Unfortunately, earlier this year my…read moredaughter was very ill and we took her in to see her. My daughter had a rash, and was not her typical happy 3 year old self which was a cause for alarm for me. I explained all of her symptoms and stressed that I believed something more serious was wrong with her. Dr. Lewis told me that my child was most likely was ill due to a virus. At the time, I inquired about the possibility of testing my child's blood sugar and was told that that office didn't test blood sugar which I found to be completely bizzare that a pediatrician wouldn't have a basic glucometer. I took my daughter home that evening and her health began to rapidly deteriorate. I rushed her to Children's hospital and immediately the triage nurse asked if my child was diabetic. She was admitted to the PICU with a blood sugar level of over 800 and was in an advanced stage of Ketoacidosis. My child was unconscious in the PICU for 2 days. If I had listened to Dr. Lewis instead of following my intuition, my child would be dead.
