My stepmother says Maria knows what she is doing and she has good hands. Maria uses a good amount of pressure. My stepmom enjoyed the massage very much. My best guess is that the company has changed ownership in the past few years. I have had thousands of massages in my lifetime and this was hands down the worst massage of them all! My experience was very similar to another recent reviewer. First, when I arrived to the location, the owner was eating lunch at the front desk which is unprofessional. I was quickly taken to a massage room. The room was a biohazard. There was an old washcloth on the face cradle, but not completely covering it. The face cradle was filthy and smelled like a public bus seat. There was makeup smeared all over the walls for some reason. The sheets felt super cheap. The massage therapist entered the rooming coughing and REEKED of cigarette smoke! It was as if this guy had smoked an entire carton of cigarettes in his car with the windows up immediately prior to the massage. While I enjoy a deep tissue massage, this was ridiculous, he was just putting his entire weight on my spine. it was like his focus was oddly on bone and not muscle. Nothing felt good, not in the least. I tried to tell him to ease up and he went deeper. I want to say he doesn't speak any English at all but I think it might be an act. At one point he laughed a little and said, "Wowwww you so strong!" this made me think he understood English and was just seeing how much nonsense I could take. He started tugging on my right arm, hard and injured my right shoulder! I have struggled to use it since that day. Eventually I just said that's it, no more, done! He just walked out. I did a search on Yelp and saw the rave reviews for Bodies Kneaded and the playful marketing they had (very pro Miss Piggy and drag queens, tbh) and decided to reach out. They had a text number on their website so I sent a message from the airport waiting for my flight to start boarding and by the time I was in my seat I had booked 2.5 hours the next day for a massage and facial. Now, this is not a traditional spa experience. It's relaxing and artsy and not the minimalist aesthetic you find in a lot of places. But I loved that about it. I'm here for the treatments first and foremost and those were amazing. Stewart is great! The massage? One of the best I've ever had. Truly. Because of the family stuff I've been going through my back was a field of stress knots and he worked them all out. I mentioned needing a little extra work in spots and he complied and also eased up the pressure perfectly when I had a few more tender areas. I had the deluxe massage which also included gentle cupping (effecting but also didn't leave any marks) and hot stones. It was great! My winter Michigan skin was also a dry mess. Before this I had been so embarrassed to even put on any makeup because it just immediately started flaking. He used an oxygen facial tool which did a great job of exfoliating all those extremely dry spots, including one really red spot I had on my cheek for a few weeks. When I left my sensitive skin was definitely a little on the ruddy side but trust the process! Within 48 hours it was all gone and my skin tone was even and glowing. When I got back to Michigan I had a few dry spots return but he set me up with success and after a few days of using some of the recommended oils things mellowed out. I feel so much more confident about my skin now! Also, Stewart is a gem. So kind and was sending me great recommendations for the neighborhood even before I even stepped foot in Florida! He was so kind and attentive during the session and was open to chatting a bit but also gave me the space to relax and zone out a bit which I appreciated. The two treatments together were significantly less than I would have paid at my hotel spa as well. Very reasonably priced for Miami Beach for sure! She asked about the pressure at the right times (it was TRULY a deep tissue massage) and she hit every knot and muscle fiber I needed help with (and a few I didn't even know about) What I am most thankful for? That I found Lana on my first day of my week long trip, and I should be able to fit one more session in before I leave Miami.
