I came from outside the district and they gave me a chance. If they hadn't my life would be very different now, I can't say I would be this successful. I also learned while there they had a 'Medical Terminology Course', which would feed my previous Army Medical background and learn more up to date terms for work at a Hospital or similar area. The many weeks I was there; with the absolutely patient, understanding, and very loving and talented 'Friends' made there; I have made my life ; because of Operation ABLE's Staff much more enjoyable; and made money I never dreamed of. I feel kind of funny reviewing this place, because though I made it through my 600 school hours to…read morego up for my Electrical license here, and passed, ecc, I also had a hell of a time learning anything here, and mostly felt like I wasn't getting my money's worth. The politics at this school are not really worth getting into. Most of the people don't really seem to want to work, the director doesn't really work at all and when confronted (in person) seems to be spineless and inarticulate at best. He has his lackeys do all his dirty work for him, and has been making hand over fist for years. Good for him, bad for me. At least one of the ladies who worked behind the desk here actually had a personality that wasn't fairly offensive, remembered names and had a sense of humor. She also was a very direct, able communicator. The rest, it was hit and miss at best. Some of the teachers they have here are worth forking over the $2,500 - but really ask around, stop by and ask the guys that are outside drinking coffee who's teaching what and how good they are before you throw your money away. Like I said, I had a few good teachers - Doug Sanford, and Lloyd Smith were helpful and to this day would answer a question for me if I called with it. They were organized and able to find ways to keep their students busy even if not all students were at the same pace. I also was able to get my CPR certification as part of the hours that I paid for, or I paid for it separately (?) unsure... But it was held at school, and easy to schedule and get to. That was the important part.

There is systemic injustice at Harvard Extension School. Their policies as stated on their website…read moreare not upheld. I had a professor who graded anything beneath a 90% as a 0%. So, in other words, if you don't get an A you fail your assignments. I withdrew, brought this to the attention of the Dean, and asked for financial credit so I could take another course instead. She did not respond but simply forwarded my concern to a registrar who refused to do anything about it. The registrar said, wrongly, that the professor was acting in accord with HES policy. The grading system on the website does not in point of fact map onto the grading system of all the professors. So be forewarned that you may end up with a professor who will give you an F if you get less than an A. Don't waste your money at HES and don't expect the administration to act justly. I've matriculated a different program. HES just lost the 30K they would have made if they would have simply rendered a just decision.

I am extremely saddened to say that HES does not help International Students solve their financial…read moreissues at all. There are no Financial Aid options coming from the university itself, and 2 out of 3 student loan companies that their office recommends actually don't really accept Extension School students. The third one needs a lot of extra paperwork that the school isn't willing to help with. In order to enroll you need to pay in full and you don't get a letter of enrollment until after the drop out period, when it's too late. You can't get a loan without paying and you can't get enrolled without a loan. So it's a chicken and egg situation that has no end. They say the university helps cover for you until the loan is approved, but in reality, you have to pay in full first and they will reimburse you after the loan is paid. Which defies the entire point of asking for financial assistance. There is a very short window in which to apply for the loan after registration before being dropped out for non-payment. Paperwork takes more than a month, which is not nearly enough to get everything done. I've spent hours and hours with both the lending officers and the financial aid officers, and in the end, nothing got solved. Nothing. I am unable to join the courses. I am unable to get a loan. I feel like my potential is wasting away... Harvard has failed me.

Unfortunately I had to give a star in order for me to post…read more Signing on with David Mercure to the medical assistant program there were many unfulfilled promises. Before joining this program I had done my research and emailed the school to find out more information. One important factor I needed information for was if this program would help if I chose to work in pediatrics. Of course the answer was yes. Lie! For the little assignments we completed pediatrics was not covered in any topic. The schedule was set up to be 3 days a week 4 hours each day including the hands on module which followed this schedule except was opposite days of the online portion. The instructor Westley Ellis would take away from our learning time problem dumping his life problems on to us students. Quite a few times class was cancelled because Westley forgot he had to teach class. How do you forget about your job? During each module the assignments and grades were posted, but once the next module started all previous work completed along with proof of grades was deleted. There was no access for this. If you had any problem regarding your assignments or the website Cengage you were to contact Cengage because Westley never had an answer. Everything we needed for a job was supposed to be included. CPR course and either the school's choice for an externship or a medical facility of your own choice. When it came time to take the CPR course I had to pay out of pocket for the course and only one location was available in downtown Boston. Having one location available wasn't very do-able so I had to find my own CPR course. When I had asked Westley about other CPR locations being available he had told me that was the only option. There were many problems with this program and every time I had a question I would ask Westley as he was the instructor for this. He told me to ask David who I had signed on with, and guess what, he told me to talk with Westley. it was a continuous back and forth with both of them with talk to him, no talk to him and never getting an answer. For employees to work at this job for a few decades they really aren't knowledgeable in their career. One of the main problems during this program was that I chose my own externship. My externship offered to take me in earlier than the course end date, so of course I jumped for that opportunity and reached out to Westley and David for their approval of starting my externship early. This was a fight for weeks to be able to get an answer of what I could do. There excuse for me not starting early was that I had missing work and my grades weren't good. I had an A in every part of the program and all of work had been completed. The owner Song Jin had to provide me my own transcript which proved my grades and my finished assignments. When it came time to receive my certificate, it took weeks when I was supposed to receive it "within 30 days of completion" so I was told, but another student was told via text by Westley once they had finished the course they would receive their certificate the next day. 42 days later I was still looking for my certificate. I had to go in person in order to get things rolling and have "papers processed" in order for me to have my certificate. When trying to get my certificate I was then told to talk with Song Jin who seemed to be just as confused and was also not really helpful. Adding on to everything being included, I was told that there was not going to be a state exam. It seemed odd but I went with it, "they knew best." At the very end as I was starting my externship I was informed by another student that a state exam was needed. I had asked Westley where I could go to take the exam, and his words were "google it." He said via text that some jobs would need you to take the exam there at work online. A certificate of COMPLETION is not good enough. A job wants you to be certified before hiring you. 3 months after me completing the program and starting my externship I finally received my certificate after continuously reaching out. Oh and they stopped providing 1098-T for tax documents. They did have them about 7-8 years ago. They go through a TFC bank and when I had asked them for my 1098, they said to call the school and they will have all of the information you need. I would NEVER recommend this school/program. A waste of time and money. If you decide to join just be prepared that you: This school is very unprofessional and needs to be shut down. 1. Need to find your own CPR course. 2. It's best if you choose your own externship site. 3. You will need to take a state exam find a place yourself and pay it out of your own pocket. 4. Don't bother asking any questions to anybody as they don't know. 5. Be prepared to hear more about Westley's life problems than learning. 6. Don't expect going into job you learned what you were supposed to. Start teaching yourself and doing your own research on medical topics.

The content was extensive and covered a lot of ground. It was definitely a whole lot to take in. The access to content that you get after the course is incredible helpful to keep studying, with quizzes, videos, and additional learning materials. My instructor was John Sanderson. Johns knowledge was extensive, he demonstrated deep expertise and shared rich examples. He also made the content digestible, he was funny, engaging, and able to make it real for us. I would highly recommend PMA and John if you're looking to get ready for the PMP exam, it is worth it!
