I love where it's situated in beautiful Downers Grove, the security is a bit much but it's nice to know we're safe and it's not like other schools with high people traffic where you have bums randomly asking you for change, etc. (I went to undergrad in Chicago) It's clean and has a beautiful setting near a woodsy area, love it! The teachers are awesome, I've met some great people who are at the top of their field and are not only there to teach but honestly make sure you succeed. They provide you with the knowledge you need but also people skills and I've realized I've learned so much just in my first year about myself and what I need to do to improve in order to be the ideal health professional. I think Midwestern is an excellent school and if you're contemplating on going here, you should simply visit to see what they have to offer. I'm sure you will fall in love with it as much as I have :)

I came from a really big camps (UCLA - go Bruins!) so I was not used to attending school at such a small campus but it is actually really nice because you can walk anywhere within 5 minutes (except when you have to walk to the Wellness Center). The library is a great high tech center with lots of study places and on the first floor next to the library, there is a 24 hour study room. I was a bit bummed to find out the library isn't open 24 hours. The gym is pretty neat and it is almost never crowded. I wish we had a pool on campus. The commons (cafeteria) has lots of yummy dishes that rotates every day so you can never get tired or sick of the food. It is CASH only though so if you plan on eating often, I would suggest getting a meal plan with the school. Parking can be pretty tough when all the students are on campus at once or trying to get out all at once...since there's only 1 way in/out.

In my personal experience, Verve is a scam. From the financial aid process to the lack of…read morecommunication, the way this school operates is extremely unprofessional. I was told that Verve reports housing, food, and transportation expenses to FAFSA even though those things were not actually being provided to me. Employees told me that it was done to get more money from FAFSA. If that is the case, then why did I still have to take out a student loan? Students deserve clear and honest answers about where their financial aid is going and what they are actually being charged for. The communication at this school is horrible. They tell students important information at the last minute, things change without proper communication, and you can call and email over and over and still not get an answer. Sometimes you literally have to go into the office and get loud and frustrated just to get someone to address your problem. The owner also seems completely disconnected when students have serious issues. Instead of being available to students when there are problems, he says he doesn't deal with students. Then there is Reni, who is supposed to be the administrator of the building. My experience with her as an instructor was extremely disappointing. She refused to teach our class for periods of time, and when she did teach, she rushed through the material. Questions were rarely answered. When students finally got an opportunity to ask questions, I personally felt that we were often brushed off or ignored. We were repeatedly told, "This is a fast-paced class," as if that explained the lack of teaching and support. Reni also told our class that we did not deserve to pass. She blamed the problems on the students and told us that we should be the ones reading and learning the material ourselves. I understand that nursing school requires students to study independently. However, there is a major difference between expecting students to study and having an instructor who does not properly teach, explain, or answer questions. After I finished everything I was required to do, Verve failed to properly submit my paperwork. I had to repeatedly call and email trying to find out what was happening. I could not get anyone to call me back. I could not get a response to my emails. When I finally reached someone, I found out my application had not been submitted properly. The only explanation I received was that multiple people were handling my case. How is that acceptable? I should not have to chase my school down repeatedly just to make sure they submit paperwork that is necessary for me to become licensed. I OVERPAID THE SCHOOL. I told them multiple times that I was owed a refund, and they still did not send my money. I eventually had to contact accounting myself before they finally decided to send my refund. Why did I have to contact them to get money that they already knew they owed me? Also for the Oak Brook location I don't understand why the classrooms are so filthy. If there's a janitor for the building in the school is part of the building the janitor should come in and clean the building or the school needs to hire a janitor because they never clean the classes. In my experience, Verve is not a professional school. I feel that they took my money, made promises that were not followed through on, communicated poorly, and left me to figure out too many things on my own. I consider my experience with this school to have been a SCAM, and I would encourage anyone considering enrolling to do extensive research, ask questions, get everything in writing, and understand exactly what you are paying for before giving this school your money. I finished. I made it through. But if I could go back knowing what I know now, I would have thought twice before enrolling.

Students pay hundreds a month just to go to clinical sights that are terrible to learn skills at, lectures to sit in with NO power point slides and just highlighting in the book and reading. Keep in mind this school never focuses on ATI but you have to do it on your own. It's a waste of time to learn from two different books and get two different exams that do not always correlate to each other. Other issue I had with this school is if you didn't make a payment on time you will get kicked out of class till you're up to par with your payments, making you miss hours you will have to make up paying $35/hr you miss. they messed up my tax form and sent me a revised one the following day after I did my taxes. They make unfair deals with the students all the time regarding tests. then they make you it take one EXIT exam but two exit exams just to take your nclex and neither are accounted for a grade. If you do not pass the exit even though your grade is passing in the class you will have to retake the whole semester. I sat in Chicago campus one weekend to make up hours and the teacher talked about her life for the first hour of the class and when she started reading through the book she would always drift off topic and talk about something irrelevant. I will never recommend anyone to this school. Anyone who has a "positive" review on this is actually making a false review. they deleted my old review I had on her months ago. but anyone who has went to this school will always tell you it's not good and the school should Be shut down.

G Skin must be under a different new management because what I experienced was nothing like the previous clients. I think what previous reviewers forget is that THIS IS A LEARNING ENVIRONMENT not Salon Zazu. If you're going to complain or compare them to an established salon, you're clearly cheap, miserable and/or ignorant. Hair appointment: I had a color retouch and deep conditioning. Color retouch was absolute match to my salon retouch. I could have done without the deep conditioner. Facial: I had the rejuvenate facial that comes with a massage. I was actually surprised how much more I enjoyed the facial here than at my old salon. Still it's a classroom, so expect the students to bring in their instructor to check on the results for all services. Would def book again. Nail: My student for nail was profesional and cleaned up my nails and cuticles well but the nail polish application took longer than expected due to limited nail color selection. I was a lil leary of this yet when she started her second day. I questioned the campus manager who didn't refute me but later demarcated bullying and retaliation to my daughter accusing her of going off campus when in actuality that did not happen. Considering the state of affairs with racism by no reason should this behavior be even here especially at a training facility. So know I would not subject her to this behavior those behaviors are unacceptable an degrading for her Jessica to think it's okay to do with a child is despicable

I went to the Westmont distance learning center to check out some classes. I was going to take a…read moremath placement exam just for the heck of it and decided to do a little brush up with one of the center's lending books, but I had to exchange my car keys to borrow it. When I returned the book, my keys were nowhere to be found. I asked if one of the other staff members took it on accident, if another student took them by accident, if they were misplaced...etc. Instead of trying to figure it out, the woman just accused me of not turning them in for about an hour and I even emptied all of my pockets, took her to my car to show here they weren't there and emptied my book bag to show her she was wrong. She still said it was my fault because my keys, "weren't in the basket." Finally another student brought my keys over after hastily grabbing them from the basket. I was furious, but kept my composure as I suggested that they got a new system for lending books - she just said it was the first time it happened ever and that it was a perfect system. No apology or anything... I just told her, I wouldn't be taking any classes there - although, it was fun to sit and eavesdrop on a professor quizzing a student on a book that he didn't read but watched the movie (Joy Luck Club) for instead to write his final paper...so...two stars I guess.
