August 2023 I have tried 5 of Lewis Bamboo Black 2 gallon plants and everyone has died within 2 months of planting them. First one was years ago but then again 2022 I thought I would try again, I bought 2 and they died within a few months. 2023 I bought 2 more with the warranty, they are now dead. They have sent me one new one but I didn't realize when I bought the warranty, the warranty was for only one plant. So now I'm out over $316.00 NO MORE!!! I'm done w them! read more

I ordered some bamboo from Lewis Bamboo. Within an hour of ordering, I got an email from Roger, Jr. He was concerned that the species I'd ordered wouldn't do well here in Chicago. I was shocked! Someone actually paid attention! We emailed back and forth, I told Roger that it was actually for inside and he suggested another species. I ordered it on Thursday and it arrived on Monday. I am not a purchaser, but the neighbor of a purchaser. Please do your research on other sites if you are not someone who has grown bamboo before. They sold my neighbor $150 of running bamboo -- the kind that sends out rhizomes 20-30 feet long every year -- which he promptly planted 4' from our property line fence. He's under the incorrect assumption that he can "just mow it" and it will be "contained". This stuff can put up 6" diameter shoots that grow 1.5" an HOUR. Of course, they'd be happy to sell me 200' of their bamboo shield at $4.50 a foot... stuff they should have sold HIM or at least offered as an add on to his purchase and discussed in their planting guides. If you want to buy bamboo, do your research on other sites before purchasing here to avoid high costs later, for both you and your neighbors! read more

I'm in Dallas, TX - Zone 8a. I ordered 6 Red Margin Bamboo plants in March 2020. They were very well packaged, and the plants looked great. About two weeks later, I ordered four more. All ten plants are thriving and sending shoots like crazy. I also purchased a large bag of their fertilizer. In May 2021, I ordered two Black Bamboo plants. They were supposed to arrive on Sat, May 15th via UPS by 7pm. I waited and waited and the plants didn't arrive. When I checked the tracking number online, the UPS driver stated that the plants had been delivered. I walked up and down my street, to see if they had been delivered, but to no avail. I called UPS and Joseph told me that he was going to reach out to the dispatcher, and that I should expect a call back. That didn't happen. I got a call from a UPS supervisor on Monday. She said that the package was misdelivered, and that she would reach out to the driver, to see if the package could be found, as it had been delivered to an unrelated address a half of mile from my home. During all this, Kristin, from Lewis Bamboo, had been communicating via email, and she was attempting to resolve this delivery snafu. The package was delivered on Monday, May 18th around 6pm. I saw the footage of the UPS driver delivering the package. He did not ring the doorbell, and there wasn't a note apologizing for their mistake. Kristin called me today to check on the package, because on her end, she saw that the package had been delivered. I called her back, and confirmed delivery. We had a very pleasant conversation. The plants arrived fine and the box was intact. I was very disappointed in UPS' lack of apology or even acknowledging that they misdelivered the package. Lewis Bamboo is a great company, the plants that I have purchased have been healthy and of the advertised height. My experience with them is of great customer service and concern for the plants that they ship. read more
