I just came from Lewes Dental and it was one of the better cleanings and exams I've gotten in a long time. My hygienist Shannon was delightful and Dr.Tananis gave me a thorough exam. I've been coming to them for a few years now since I relocate to the area. Huge shout out for Dawn and Andrea, both have excellent bedside manner and truly want to help. Same goes for the other two front desk women, who are always very helpful. I have read some comments on Dr. T and while he can be very direct, but I wouldn't call him rude. I appreciate that he takes care of his staff by taking them on annual trips and encourages customer service through recognition. Dr. Hughes is excellent. The one thing keeping the rating from 5 stars is the prices. read more

Worst dentist ever Dr Tananis can be very rude and they will tell you your insurance pays for things it does not also will do things to your teeth without your knowledge causing pain for weeks and end up having the tooth pulled but ended up getting 1500 for nothing. read more

I have recently relocated to this area and called for an appointment. The woman that answered the phone was awful. I was not allowed to make an appointment until I filled out paperwork via email. What if I don't have email? Once the paperwork was received (using someone else's email) so saw that they wanted my sci number which I will not send via internet. The woman that I spoke with would not take that info verbally. They also will kick you out of their practice if you miss an appointment. By the way, after calling them for clarification, they still did not offer an appointment. This practice obviously thinks they are the Gucci of dentists. I got an appointment immediately with a phone call at my new dentist. Lewes Dental obviously doesn't want any new clients so do yourself a favor and skip the hassle...... Go elsewhere. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. They didn't tell me until after the appointment that they actually aren't a in network provider for Delta Dental, only 80%, so cleanings that are normally covered at 100% does not apply. After the explanation of benefits was received they told me that they double bill the insurance compay for radiograohic imaging. Dr Tananis has the worst bedside manners and is very rude and not friendly. my family and I will never go back. I have canceled all future appointments. I owed $116 for a cleaning that should have been covered at 100%. they billed my insurance company $733 for that cleaning. Ridiculous. read more

God forbid you work and have to reschedule. Get ready for an undisclosed $150 change fee. And just for a cleaning be prepared for them to just do one side at a time so they can have you come in 3 times instead of once to maximize their billing. Sure hope they pay the hygienists $600K/year, which is what $150 for a half hour procedure would add up to. Who has time for 3 separate days just to have a cleaning? Find another dentist. The primary one who was highly recommended is on medical leave for most of this year anyway. read more

FEED UP! Was going to Lewes dental for about 5 years. cleanings were going just ok. Was tired of being yelled out for gum bleeding and plaque build up, so they talked me into going every 3 months instead of every 6 months that my insurance covered. This last time I went in for a routine cleaning and came out with a infection in my gum. The hygienist was so rough and digging into my gums it caused a infection in my gum. I have been going to a dentist for over 60 years and never had a experience like that, my gum is still sore after 4 weeks. In addition to the up-selling of products and services every time i go in and Dr Trananis dry and unpleasant manors. Im definitely looking for another dentist. The last thing that made me leave was after that cleaning i had to go back about a week later after i called in that my gum was infected, they told me that unless I got a Perio Restore at a cost of $381 that my insurance wont cover, that they cant do anymore cleanings. Wow here they go again on the up sell. I felt threatened. I fell for it in 2020 when they did it and now they want me to do again when most of my readings were in the twos. I could go on but I would highly recommend that you use another dentist. One shout out to CARA who is the best! Sorry to say I wont be coming back. read more

Was difficult to find parking and a long walk to the office, but the dentist was running pretty late anyways so it worked out good. His office was very clean and very crowded, so he didn't get to spend much time on my exam but his staff was very nice to talk to. Going back for cleaning in a couple weeks. read more

My bridge fell out and every other local dentist was booked a month out, but Lewes Dental had openings the next day. Then I found out why: it took them three tries to take impressions of my teeth, and removing each molding hurt more than the previous try. It felt like my teeth were literally going to rip out of my mouth. When I arrived for my next appointment, they realized they had sent the impression to the wrong lab. They had to send it back out to another lab, which took two more weeks. For the prices they charges, the pain of the impressions they screwed up, and the weeks it took to finally get the bridge, Lewes Dental wasn't worth it. Found another, better dentist nearby. read more
