One of the bartenders near the bathrooms & main stage provided very sub par service, requiring me to repeat my order multiple times and caused a very frustrating experience for the rest of the night. The frustrating portion of this experience was how my credit card was charged over $400 several hours after we had left the bar. I had ordered two drinks totaling just under $20 (including a tip). I was then charged $7.50 and $396, in two different transactions, multiple hours after leaving the bar. Conveniently, this was after the bar had closed for the evening so there was no one to contact about this egregious mistake. It's one thing to mistakenly charge a credit card but it's another thing to feel targeted for a ridiculous amount several hours after we had left the bar and after the bar closed. I disputed the charges with my credit card but I will never be able to dispute having a good time at this establishment. I will never return.

The smashburger my dad ordered looked like a show-stopper and he housed it. I tried my wife's fish and chips (what's mine is mine and what's hers is mine too) and, while the preparation is different from what you might expect, they were hot and delicious. The martinis are gigantic and the craft brew selection runners over with both the very best of our local beer scene, as well as selections from more distant breweries. I finally tried a Lawson's Sip of Sunshine and saw the (ahem) light. Our server was also running the bar and was both enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the menu, and sold even this abstainer of deserts on a fried cherry hand pie. Cannot wait to go back.

An incredible big building remodeled from a car factory or some such. Super cool decor and vibe overall - even the "church pews" were neat. Very friendly people and a cool bartender. We went specifically to see the 1920's band, Drew Nugent, who blew us away. He embodies the era to the tee in every way! The musicians were all top notch and tight AF! I loved their look, sound, and presence! We stayed until they ended at 10:30 pm. Parking is a bear - we made our own spot by the fence. I highly recommend!!!

It's an old theater with a lot of charm and I'm glad to see it's been renovated and saved. One bummer is that concessions are limited to soda, water and some snacky junk food. The attached restaurant/bar is no longer open so if you want to get something to eat or drink before/after the show, you have to go elsewhere (and there's not much immediately nearby.)

My brother won a gift certificate for Tilted Axes and invited me to come with him as it was for two…read morepeople for two hours. What he didn't realize was there was an expiration date, but thankfully for some nice customer service, we were allowed to use it the day after expiration as we set up in advance a date and time that the facility advised would work - 4pm on a Saturday. We arrived to a majority empty place which turned out to be in our favor. We got a lane to ourselves and almost a private lesson on how to throw from our AxeMaster. There are three styles of axes. Two are two-handed throwers, and then a hatchet which is a one-hand throw. They all have their positives and negatives with their weight and accuracy, but we got enough time to toss them all. Our two-hour session started with 10 minutes on each of the two axes and hatchet. It was almost getting monotonous but quickly we were getting the hang of each one and the characteristics needed to make accurate throws. Our AxeMaster would provide pointers after each throw to improve our skills. Then, let the games begin! We played several games. First was a 20-throw high score wins. Every fifth round you could go for a "kill" shot which was the tiny blue dot on each upper left and right of the bullseye target. 10 points to succeed, zero if you fail. 99% of the time you fail. Second game was to have an imaginary tic-tac-toe board and win that game. Another game was to hit each level of bullseye twice and then end the game with a kill shot. We then played another 20-throw high score. When it came to the kill shot to win, this took a very long time and we almost didn't have enough time to play the second 20-throw. But, I finally got it and we played. Happy to say I won everything except tic-tac-toe. The facility has at least 10 lanes to throw, a small lounge with some video games and pool table, a stage area for bands or comedians, and plenty of tables to stand around and watch the TVs or people throwing. There are competition leagues and Tilted Axes is certified to have them. They sell a little bit of food, but you can bring in all you want and beer, too. If this place was crowded, and our AxeMaster said it does at times, I do not know if we would have had as much fun because of the diminished time you would have had to throw and the hour or two does go quickly. While you are playing your games, you do have the option to switch out which axe you can throw. You have to sign waivers which are done electronically. Don't forget to tip your AxeMaster! We had a great time and our shoulders are a little bit sore. We really liked the experience and would definitely do it again! We had a gift certificate, but I was told a two-hour session is about $42 for one person, and about $25 for a one-hour session. I'm sure the website has the group rates and competition league rates and rules.

The DJ's are placed awkwardly at the bar level not on the dance floor, they played excellent vinyl selections between sets. We arrived early 'cause we're old, we didn't want to stand all night, and hoped to grab a table by the bar. We had to wait for 5-10 minutes outside before the doors opened at 7:00. It was cold out there! While we stood there, a bouncer came outside and stood with us. He could have remained indoors where it was warm. But in a gesture of silent solidarity, the dude joined us in the cold until the doors opened. He didn't make a big deal about it, just stood with us. You know, in our angry, cynical, stressed out world, it's awfully nice to witness a small display of humanity. Thanks, big guy. Once inside we snagged a table near the bar. I asked the bartender for a virgin strawberry margarita for my wife. But alas, the margaritas are premixed and they'd all lost their virginity. The bartender offered to make a substitute concoction for my wife. She asked me to report back and if my wife didn't like the drink, she'd comp us. Again, real decency. And good mixology, too. The drink was great. The show was fantastic, the acoustics outstanding, and the overall vibe at ARC is cool but unpretentious. It's a kick-ass independent music venue. That was our first show, and we'll be back for more. P.S. If ARC is reading this, could you maybe book more hip hop?

It's donations only, and donations are greatly appreciated (especially for traveling bands that need to buy expensive gas). The place is a little dirty, but what do you expect when you go to a show that crusty punks live and put on shows in? It is a good place to check out local music and slightly smaller touring bands.
