Levines is a furniture store manned almost entirely by a team of smiling chaps in neatly pressed white shirts who are happy to swap advice on the beds, armchairs and cupboards sold here. As well as selling simple, discount furniture at cheap prices it stocks a wide range of beds - including orthopaedic ones - which frankly is a godsend if you have a jippy shoulder (like me). Despite being relatively young for such things their range of reclining chairs is pretty awe inspiring and they are happy to deliver at a time that is convenient. They are also great at providing brilliant customer service - when I got a bit confused by a recent purchase (a headboard for the afore mentioned orthopaedic bed, which just wouldn't sit right) they were really kind and patient - even when it turned out I was trying to fit it upside down. We ordered a bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and headboard from Levine's. We were initially told we'd have to wait a couple of weeks for the headboard which we said was fine. The first delivery only included the bed (the drawers and wardrobe had been left behind). We rearranged for the drawers and wardrobe and waited in throughout the delivery slot assigned but nobody ever showed up and nobody ever communicated this to us. We were then told that the 2 week wait on the headboard would be another month. In the end, it took the best part of 4 months for the headboard to be delivered. No discount was ever offered by management despite this terrible service. I would seriously discourage anybody using Levine's in future. I would however say that the furniture is decent quality (when it eventually arrives). read more

Flimsy Quality. Rude Deliverymen. Woeful Installation. See photos. Walking in I was a little put off by the state of the carpet at the Bearwood branch. Lacking pride in presentation. Also, showroom is cramped and cluttered. The staff wasn't as customer orientated as at most modern companies. I wanted to go elsewhere but our mom wanted to buy a bed she had seen in the window. I relented and now regret it. We ordered the bed on a Saturday and were given a delivery date for the following Saturday. We did not get the courtesy call 20 minutes beforehand as stated. Also, for some reason the salesman was really put out when we insisted on signing the invoice as the form required. We were pleased the bed arrived on the day and within the stated 5 hour time slot. All the parts were there too. After reading other reviews, these were two of the main gripes people have along with poor quality. We were a little disappointed the deliverymen didn't use slip-ons over work boots but I can accept possible safety concerns when carrying heavy furniture. The bed had two issues. One was poorly drilled sockets in the base for the gliders. After the deliveryman finally finished cursing the manufacturer, he proceeded to used a screwdriver to chisel holes out and hammered the retainers in. He found one particularly troublesome and 'hammered the hell out of it'. The other issue was staples sticking out of the frame which he said meant that half of the bed needed to be replaced. We were told to keep using it until a replacement was delivered in the week but mustn't remove the transportation straps securing the drawers. He promised we would get a call in a day or two. The guys were kind of polite albeit it in a 'begrudging' kind of way. Clearly didn't want to be working. They were very careless, tearing the CCTV recorder off the wall and knocking the router off the shelf. Hopefully they still work. Bashing both chandeliers. Didn't even apologise. Bashed the walls all the way up too. Sloppy. The bed seemed good quality though. The mattress is great and the headboard good. The overall experience seemed acceptable. Why the low rating? Several things: 1) Despite paying extra for installation, the deliverymen refused to take the packaging which as you can imagine, given a base, mattress and headboard, is a lot of cardboard and plastic wrapping. Told us to use our bins which pretty much filled them up leaving little space for our domestic waste. 2) No one got back to us about the replacement. So almost 2 weeks later we decided we would open the drawers. 3) Discovered the gliders had been broken and just put on without being mentioned. 4) The headboard end had been forced into the space between the wardrobes with so much force that the metal retainer on one glider had broken the actual wooden frame of the bed. Totally disintegrated it. The glider being bent 90 degrees (please see photos). Went to the store and spoke to the manager. Told him how our elderly mom was at home crying. Have to wait a week for a replacement bed now. And the deliverymen should have taken packaging too. Just lazy. Goods must be of a standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory. If the replacement bed isn't right then we will be contacting Trading Standards. We will not be using Levines ever again. I would not recommend them. read more

BAD ATITUDE FROM THE OWNER MICK ONCE PURCHASE IS MADE ! PLease save yourself the time and money and go ELSEWHERE! They are keen to take your money, however, forget to deliver all the items, when they are they are always damaged, no aftercare, in the owners own words "not my problem, only forgot 3 items, the damage on your wardrobe is minor but we will call you in 5 weeks, cant get hold of our supplier in germany so you will just have to wait"! We had issues with sinking mattresses, broken wardrobes, virtually NO padding on sofas and NO resemblence to WHAT we ordered! RUDE AND UNPLEASANT STAFF! loads of waiting around and noone there to serve and when they do they are plain RUDE and very good scam artists at selling you shoddy furniture read more

This store ordered a black wall unit that was meant to come from abroad and took £60 as a deposit and has never delivered the goods or even contacted me about my order. Will never trust this company again. Beware. read more
