I have called Elk & Elk in the past, & my case was not a good fit, which I understood. I recently…read morecalled again about my husband who was improperly tested and treated twice, by two different oncologists at two different facilities. When I called the intake coordinator at Elk & Elk, she was rude, and said "This is not a case we would take. Do you even know what the survivability rate is for stage 4 lung cancer?" Of course we know. What a thing to say to the wife of someone with stage 4 lung cancer. As if, oh well, his survivability chances are not great, so we won't waste our time. Well, then it is a possible wrongful death lawsuit. Thankfully there are more empathetic, caring firms out there whose coordinators are properly trained to deal with grave illnesses, the people and their caregivers trying to cope with them, and who can see the errors could have been fatal, or still could be, but they were egregious errors, nonetheless. A blast in the face reminding us of how fragile he is, especially after the standard of care was deviated from not once but twice was not at all what we needed. They may be a great law firm for a lot of folks, but the manner in which we were treated when we called about his case was ruthless and did nothing except raise anxiety and fears already present.

Elk and Elk's website states that they assist with probate. My mother was able to get in touch with…read moreone of their attorneys to assist with her mother's estate in 2018. I corresponded through their chat feature explaining my entire situation (mother passed away) and was then told they'd forward me to a lawyer. I received a condescending email, text and phone message saying they don't do probate and I need to do a google search and go down the list to find a website that "actually says they do probate" like I'm some kind of idiot. That's a direct quote. Not only was that offensive, but their website explicitly states that they do assist with probate. I chatted with one of their agents via chat for 5 minutes and explained the entire situation -could not that agent have expressed that they don't do probate? I would never recommend this firm based in this experience.

After reading the website I was very impressed by the founder's experience and success. I thought…read morethat was who I would be meeting with after booking a consultation, only to find out that the consultation was with one of the people with far less experience and a relatively newer hire compared to the attorney who I read about on the site. She was very nice though and I showed her the respect she deserves but I needed someone with far more experience. So I decided to stick with the person I currently have at another firm because I did not have the confidence I would be better off. So I have been seeking those with more of a track record because I want someone with experience in dealing with a person who has traits of, and/or a character, personality disorder and I feel I needed more expertise in strategy.

I have waited a very long time to write this review, primarily because I felt writing it…read moreimmediately following my divorce would allow for too many emotions to enter into the review. Almost 18 months later I am just as unhappy with the quality and service that I received from this law firm. If you don't want to read the whole review, here's the summary - DON'T USE THIS FIRM, RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN TO ANOTHER. Throughout my case I struggled to communicate with my lawyer - to excess. I would reserve time from my schedule to talk only to receive no call at the scheduled time, or any time after. Often I would get an excuse that she was in court or something came up, but I never received an apology for this behavior. I would send countless text messages (was told this was more effective than email), dozens of emails, dozens of voicemails to desk and cellphones and they all went unanswered, yet somehow billed for the receipt of them... This happened so much that I actually had to request a conversation with Andrew Zashin himself who only made excuses for her behavior, and he only agreed to meet with me after I expressed in an email directly to him that I would not only never recommend his law firm, but that I would actively discourage people from using it. He seemed very put-off by my position and I believe he took the meeting only to defend his firm and attorney and less to actually listen to what I had to say and attempt to correct the conditions. Here I am 18 months later and still dealing with the final division of assets through the QDRO process and the ONLY way I can get an answer from anyone is to go around my attorney and directly to the paralegal who has been handling my case. She is the only reason that I gave a star, she is responsive and actually owns the communication process, were it not for her I would have given no stars if possible. Divorce is an ugly matter, and often times very stressful for both parties regardless of how amicable it may or may not be between the two. Those who employ the services of lawyers should be met with compassion and respect, especially when paying upwards of $400/hr for services. If you wish to have a congenial experience with your attorney, have effective negotiations, and receive respect for your time as a client - I STRONGLY suggest you look elsewhere, I found none of those at this law firm.
