This is astounding. In October 2018, I wrote my initial review in which I referred to this joke Dr Levin told me. "Every people is mixed genetically except for the Jews because no one would want to rape them."
This joke makes light of rape and also says negative things about Jewish people. It also suggests that rape has something to do with attractiveness which is a terrible and untrue statement.
A few days after I posted my review, Dr. Levin posted a comment. In it he admitted to telling the joke. He claimed he was great at reading people, and that most people found him funny and that the whole thing had been a miscommunication.
I immediately called a regulatory body and reported the contents of this comment to it. There is a paper trail that shows that Dr. Levin did
in fact initially admit telling the joke. This is a known fact.
Flash ahead to December 30. Dr. Levin took down the comment where he admitted telling the joke and now says:
"This event never took place. Either the person is very confused or just like to fabricate bad reviews. Read the other reviews- do they even come close to this."
Let me address this response.
I am not confused, As a person of integrity and honesty, it is against my conscience to write untrue or harmful things about anyone or anything.
Just take a look at all the other Artsy P. reviews. They are many and
are honest and are universally considered helpful.
I am a busy person. Why would I go around and write random reviews targeting podiatrists?
Undeniably, he has helped some people. Statistically speaking, three positive reviews is a small sample, but I'll even grant that they had positive experiences.
That in no way negates my negative experience. I'm assuming he didn't tell the rape joke to them or that such humor didn't bother them.
But why go to a doctor who might inflict you with a very offensive joke when there are plenty of other doctors (see Yelp) that are just as good or better and don't harass their patients.
Why go to a doctor who a) doubles down on his terrible rape joke and b) then denies telling the joke. Would you trust him to be honest with you? Would you trust him with your feet?
It turned out for me that Dr. Levin's medical advice also was bad. I went to a second professional who told me that Levin's suggestion that my
lift be 1/2 inch could potentially damage my achilles tendon.
I wrote my initial review to protect other people from having the devastating experience that I had. I think most readers would recognize the desperation in Dr. Levin's comment for what it is -- the fear of someone who knows they have done wrong and is worried about losing business because someone dared to call him on his inappropriate behavior.
There are many other fine podiatrists in the area who also take CalOptima and Medicaid who do not put patients through the horrible experience of a really nasty joke and an arrogant attitude, to boot.
Let's send a message that telling horrific jokes about rape is wrong, and that lying and trying to smear a former patient is wrong. In this era of #metoo, please join me in boycotting Dr. Levin's practice. Give your business to podiatrists other than Levin.
It is saddening that people will do bad things and lie about them. But there is a shift occurring across both this country and the world at large in which we will no longer tolerate or allow cruel and duplicitous behavior.
