We brought my dad here to walk in the pool to strengthen his legs and while walking in the door he tripped and fell, knocking my mom down him, on the runner inside of door! The runner is not industrial, it's more like a runner you'd buy at Wayfair for your hallway at home. No elevators to help him get to second level to work on bikes. My last complaint is the customer service at front desk, two of the gals (Blond) are like dead fish! I just shake my head because well... it's not my business! Other than that, great facility and GREAT POOL!!!!

I love plaza but do wish the rules were a bit more logical/reasonable…read more I see people doing heavy squats (up to 400+) all the time on the power rack without any type of safety stop or even a spotter. This is exactly how bodybuilder Justin Vicky died just last week squating 460lb (spurring me to write this). On the other hand, Plaza doubled the number of "Don't drop the dumbbells" signs a few months ago. Soon after that I saw a guy get chewed out for lowering some big dumbbells to the floor after a heavy flat press. He didn't drop them or even let them escape his hands, he just lowered them as slow as he could after doing flat presses, but it made a thud noise and that counted as dropping. So now anytime someone flat presses heavy dumbbells they've got to catch them on their knees while also catching their forward momentum before their head goes through the mirror in front of them? That's fine as long as you don't let the 100 to 150 dumbbells touch the floor and make a thud. Also, good luck if you have a shoulder problem because you'll be loosing your membership if you bail out of any kind of dumbbell press. In the mean time, don't worry about the other guy on the opposite side of the room deadlifting 405 and letting the weight free-fall from waste high to the ground with every rep. I love all the people, the atmosphere, and the equipment at Plaza. That's why it's got my 4 stars. But I've got to reserve the last star for when the rules become a little more focused on safety of the people and equipment. Honestly though, I couldn't care less about seeing additional rules added to the squat and deadlift area. I'd be fine to see natural selection and liability waivers in the membership contract work that issue out naturally. However, when the rules and the way they're enforced with the dumbbells don't allow them to be used as intended and in the safest manner (or even unsafely), that's not good for anybody.

Cleanest gym in town. So much room! So much equipment! I definitely highly recommend Plaza Fitness.read more

Anytime outpaced the others in my book. It checked all of my boxes: close to home, open any time (they give you a key FOB for non-staffed hours), quiet and low-volume at the times I work out, and very clean equipment and showers/restrooms. I usually bike to this location in the early morning and there are only ever 3 or 4 people there with me. I can accomplish my workout without having to wait for a machine or weights and I love that I can use the training room with access to stretch bands, foam rollers, kettle bells, bosu balls, etc. etc. Alex, the new manager, is super friendly and will give you a 7 day free trial which includes the key FOB to access the gym outside of normal hours. They also set you up with a free goal-setting meeting with Stephanie, the trainer. She gives you your current stats and reviews your goals, works with you on a timeline for accomplishing those goals and sets up a free training session with her. There is no pressure to pay for personal training (OK, a little bit-hence the 4 stars) but the test session is well worth trying and Stephanie is very knowledgeable and professional. I have post-partum abdominal diastasis and she happened to have a book on specific exercises to heal the abdominal muscles for diastasis. Overall, very impressed with the customer service and attention, cleanliness, and accessibility. Bummed that the downtown location does not have more classes (spin)!!

There are three areas: rowers, weight floor, and treadmills. During each session you work in these three areas but with different goals each time. If you want to utilize this feature you do need to purchase one of their heart rate monitors- I believe there are three different options right now. There is a huge sense of community within the gym. I've made many connections from the events they offer for members, family, friends and the rest of the community. My favorite aspect of the gym is their programming. The owner programs for his members, he doesn't use a software program of third party. This type of care is not common in the CrossFit world. Edited for brevity. After three years a faithful athlete, I wish I was not leaving this review…read more On multiple occasions I waited for my programming while he talked to friends or simply ignored me. At times for up to an hour. One time I waited two hours while he ignored me to talk to friends--only to crack a joke at my expense when I told him I was leaving. Conversations and confrontations happened, programming apps were changed. Still, numerous times I'd either receive my programming hours or days late... or not at all. Over three years, I noticed a pervasive pattern of covert digs and veiled insults thrown into conversations and made on social media. Some of these included sexually charged comments, what I would consider "mobbing," (ie, involving other people/ individuals in "targeting" me), what I interpreted to be a few veiled threats of kicking me out of the gym. After several years of trying to deny this was happening in favor of the "good times" (and there were good times! I met a lot of amazing people and seriously developed as an athlete here), I was becoming depressed and started having anxiety attacks which made functioning, especially at work and training, difficult. I made an attempt to tell Dayne about all of this--the amount of distress it was causing me, that I did not know where any of these behaviors were coming from, and did not ask for any of it. Still, I made the decision to leave quietly when I moved away. When I cancelled my membership, he only refunded part of my money. Two weeks of being either flat-out ignored or asked to wait, having to enlist someone else in the gym to contact him, and calling my bank's fraud department, he gave me my money back. I told him I had been trying to leave quietly but had experienced too much distress and was not willing to tolerate the disrespect anymore. He said he was sorry I "felt that way" and made an innuendo about my mental health. This was all followed up by other staff getting in on the social media digs as well as leaving positive reviews discrediting the ones I left. I had sincerely hoped for an actual resolution. But I continue to see no attempts to do so, nor any remorse for the level of distress I experienced. I am heartbroken and beyond disappointed.
