There were paintings and drawings, sculptures, and then on another floor there were jewelry, nail artists, soap maker, etc. They were also giving away free pancakes, although you got one pancake at a time so that was a little disappointing. There was a bar where you could buy drinks.. My friend who is a creative person really enjoyed the event there. I did not end up buying anything although there were some nice products for sure. One of only two "mainstream" after-hour venues left in Vancouver (the other being 816 The Bassment). Atmosphere and lineup-wise, I definitely prefer Gorg over 816. Some call it sketchy, others call it part of the charm, but I call it a place to lose myself in the music and feel the bass rattle my bones thanks to the epic custom-built sound system. Apparently, there are even subs under the wooden benches at the front of the club. If you've never put your back against the honeycombs, you have to try it once. To anyone talking about feeling unsafe, I personally never felt that way despite the fact that I usually go solo too. You just have to use your common sense, keep an eye on your drinks at all times, and let the staff know if someone is making you uncomfortable. Cover charge is on the average side ($30 last I was there a couple months ago) for downtown nightclubs, but what isn't expensive these days thanks to the cost of inflation? The Fox is located in Mount Pleasant on Main St. near 7th ave, in an old movie theater. The projection room has been transformed into the dance floor! It's a long and narrow building with two levels. Next door is another smaller room called the Cabaret room, and of course the main room downstairs, The Projection room. They have weekly events with live bands and performers, such as Wednesday night stand up comedy and Sunday night improve. Of course Thursday, Friday and Saturday's are your nights to shake your booty with different DJs or live bands. We visited for a friends birthday, and although I may have already had my fair share of drinks, I was quite pleased with a few factors with this venue. The first, we did not have to wait in line! It was a Saturday night at about 12:30. Super huge plus because I have little patience for line ups. Next, the cover was $12, which is probably pretty standard these days, but my opinion is there should be a live band or DJ to warrant that fee. The DJ was fantastic!!! Worth every penny. I had one drink and had to hit the floor! I don't know who he/she was but it was epic!! ‍ They have drink specials which are prepared by easygoing bartenders, but.....I am taking a star away for the fact that they only accept cash. There is a bank machine which charges you $3, plus your bank will charge on top of that. It's 2018, time to up your game with portable debit machines!! I went there on my very third day here in Canada, it was the first and the last place of dance that I've visited because they cover everything, something really good about them is that they have a very good service of "lost and found" if you have how to prove that the thing that you lost is yours, also, they treat you really nice if you're nice with them too, because they have to deal with many drunk people. I still go to their events after a year, and I'd like to add something that I really like about them is that they always response if they did something wrong and you let them know it.
