MGM Grand Incident at Level Up On Sunday, May 24, we came to Level Up at MGM Grand for Karaoke to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday and Memorial Day. We were enjoying ourselves up until the following incident with the bartender Ray. I've dealt with busy bars, stressed staff, and occasional misunderstandings before, but this was on another level entirely. The bartenders communication skills were lacking from the start. We seem to be bothering him when trying to place orders. Not once were we greeted, welcomed or even asked if there was anything that we would like to order we had to call on him from across the bar for any type of service. What should've been a normal interaction turned hostile when the bartender demanded my husband owed him $6 for my Coke. My husband explained that he was gambling at the bar for the last half hour, but the bartender insisted he owed him $6 because I was not sitting there when he came with the drink, that he would not comp the beverage. Then came the request for him to place it on a tab so that we could move to a table closer to the stage. He outright refused to listen with dismissive responses, and instead of letting anyone finish speaking, he talked over my husband and daughter and escalated the situation. Rather than being professional, he became aggressive and confrontational immediately. The most frustrating part was being falsely accused of using profanity when no such act occurred. When my daughter told him he was being rude he shouted at her that she was rude and that's when the false claim was made that her boyfriend swore at him when he looked up at the man shouting at his girlfriend and had not said one word. Instead of resolving anything, the Bartender Ray took the incident personally and took it to the next level by calling Security to have us escorted out of Level Up, claiming we were irate, aggressive and he felt threatened by our presence, refusing us service. Despite this we remained composed yet justly upset and being publicly treated like we had done something wrong over a completely fabricated accusation was embarrassing and unnecessary. The security guard apologized and said he didn't understand why the bartender was so angry and that we did not need to leave the premise but needed to leave the venue. I understand customer service can be difficult, especially in a busy environment, but basic professionalism, listening skills and respectful communication should still be expected, especially in a tourism driven industry. Unless management seriously addresses how staff interacts with their customers I won't recommend this place and will never return. My husband is a retired veteran and I have over 30 years experience, in executive sales & customer service. I currently work in the hospitality industry for the largest 4 star resort in North America here in Las Vegas. I completely understand working with unreasonable customers, and we were not that in this instance. Far from it. We are very supportive and treat all service workers with respect. We are good paying customers that also gamble and all we expected was basic common courtesy. Retaliation toward paying customers is unacceptable and any employee in any situation that abuses power because they're having a bad day should be held accountable for their actions. read more

My family and I wanted to try a new karaoke bar. We came to this place with high hopes and got nowhere near what we expected. My father had ordered a coke from the bar and asked for a refill. Roy, one of the bartenders, tried to charge us individually for the sodas after we had asked repeatedly to open a tab and move to the tables. He then started getting frustrated and leaned over the counter top yelling in my face. I tried to communicate that he was being a pretty rude for a silly misunderstanding. He continued to scream in my face and called security saying we had used inappropriate language with him and that he felt "threatened". After repeatedly attempting to diffuse the situation, he got security to escort us out. Additionally, the MGM security also did not understand why he was so upset. After they had talked to us, they profusely apologized. Overall, the 20 minutes we were there, we weren't impressed at all and will not be visiting Roy again. My friends and I had a great time here after playing some Topgolf. We just wanted to go somewhere to spend our last night in Vegas and hang out so we came here since the groom to be been here before. When we came around 10pm, they weren't busy at all. They had a Mexican band playing and the game area was available. So we played the corn hole game for about an hour. They have 2 basketball hoop game and pool table but we didn't want to pay. Then we went to play jenga for like an hour and it was fun. After we finish jenga, they wanted to play beer pong so we got a beer jug. We spent another 2 hours playing beer pong and it was entertaining. We saw a worker from time to time come around the area to clean people trash and the table. They close food service at 9:30pm so be aware of that. read more

Level up is a hit or miss some nights there's an incredible band and some nights there isn't much going on Monday night is 80s nights which is always fun and random bands. Tuesday's country night Sundays karaoke Pro tip. Order drinks direct from the bar, the drinks the servers bring around are weak and it's Just a short walk over unless you're only drinking beer then go for it. read more

Inside mgm grand casino resort, next to the sports book and entrance from NYNY. We were able to snag a table on Sunday, for football! They have a server who goes around, but she didn't get to us- it's busy, I get it. So we did order drinks directly from bar, but hey we were just happy to get a table to watch the games! We ordered food from the QR code, but I guess you have to go walk over to some other restaurant if you do that- so pro tip- order your food thru bartender or server. Prices expensive, but standard on strip. Both food dishes were really good and big portions. Thanks for having a table open!p read more

To the management: If the 49er game is on and the a significant amount of viewers are 49er fans, it might be a good idea to keep it on. Just a heads-up that if you're there to watch a game that's currently playing regardless of who you support, don't order anything right up feont because management has no problem switching channels even when a game is in progress. In other words, the management operates at its own subjective convenience rather than the demographic of those seated and interested in watching an event that had been displayed since it had started. read more

This place is a mini-club within the MGM Grand that is so poorly run it's really sad. They have bands later in the evening, but there's never anyone there watching the band. They have a DJ playing bad house music leading up to the band, which serves to guarantee that the place is empty when the band starts. One night they had a pretty good rock band with no lead-up to let anyone know they'd be there. I guess bands don't have their own followings like they did in the old days. The place is mostly kids playing beer pong and maybe some dudes playing pool. Occasionally a group of overdressed girls will roll through the Virtual Realty area and then roll out. Christ this place is pricey. Cool area but ridiculous they charge nightclub prices. We received two pitchers of beer for beer pong and was $60. I ordered a mixed drink for $15 and asked for a water which bartender told me would be $6.50. Pretty terrible but I should know better as a local not hit these joints but when you have people visiting you bite the bullet. Cool area but for the price of one pitcher you can uber to a cooler area with out being raped on prices. read more

Level Up has plenty potential to level up! I thought this place is such a cool casual place to hang out, but I think it's still new so I hope there will be more additions and improvements to come. Right at the corner entrance of MGM (next to Hakkasan), there're playable games available like billiards, skeeball, pop-a-shot. It's like a tiny Dave & Buster's - and it IS tiny. There were probably less than 15 arcade games, two pool tables, and maybe 4 skeeball lanes. We were there for maybe an hour and the pool tables never let up... Good thing there's a full bar. There you can take your beer to the beer pong tables or do what we did and sit at the bar for some wireless video gaming connected to the screens up above. Over on the side are even more gaming, split into two sections: interactive digital table gambling section with up to three female hosts, and a video game tournament & VR gaming section. This was a fun and pretty chill space when we went. But the reason I would recommend it is for the Virtual Reality. Not a bad price $50 per person for an hour experience. The staff was really great too and let us non-VR players even come in and watch. The VR is a group experience where you wear backpacks and have free range in a large room space. Working together we did the mission themed one and came with a variety of inexperienced VR people. We all had a good time so I think that really went to show how good the experience is. Unique. And something we definitely all enjoyed- playing or watching. If you're in the area and have some time stop in and check it out. read more

Walked 4 miles to play pool tables on the strip, and come to find out level up inside the billion dollar casino owned by MGM will serve you $18 jack and cokes and provide you with a broken pool stick. There are 4 broken pool sticks behind the bar and can't figure out how to keep its customers in the door. Here's a good idea, fix you broken pool sticks, Walmart is just down the street. read more

Had my purse snatched here on 6/25/23. The person who stole my phone then tried to extort money from me (from my stolen phone) in order to get it back from them by asking me to pay $300 to CashApp $paymoneytodavid. This CashApp account belongs to a David Salazar, which is interesting because MGM has an employee by the name of David Salazar who works as a bartender. It's also interesting how upon tracking my stolen phone on FindMyiPhone for two hours, the phone seemed to be in an employee/restricted area until about 5 am. After making a security report, MGM security assured me that it was probably picked up by an employee and would be returned to Lost and Found at the shift switch. Wrong. Around 5 am, I tracked my phone driving all over downtown and the Strip while spending money on my stolen card. Hope you enjoyed the $50 worth of tacos and over $100 worth of gas you bought with my card, David. MGM corporate investigator Nicholas Griego told me that security reviewed the cameras and stated that the person who stole my purse was an "old, homeless woman" and that they apparently had her in custody at MGM but "had to let her go because Metro refused to pick her up". I guess security just lets anyone into the bars and clubs there at MGM. He has since not been in contact with me and will not return the emails of Detective Barney from LVMPD regarding MGM employee David Salazar's possible involvement in the theft. Detective Barney also informed me that she is working on EIGHTY cases alone just from MGM. I would advise checking out one of the many nicer casino properties and bars along the Strip. There seem to be a lot of purse snatchers and other criminals roaming the MGM. read more

What a cool hidden spot! We just happened to stumble across it while walking the strip and we are so glad we did. From beer pong tables to pinball machines this place is a cool spot for friends or even a casual date night. With a VR area and even mini bowling lanes, we were totally impressed with the layout of this fun zone. From the fun murals on the walls to the interesting takes on famous celebs, I thoroughly enjoyed the art. Sadly we were not as impressed with the service however. The bartender seemed grumpy and preoccupied with the woman at the bar. We waited on him before we decided to just head out since there's plenty else to see or drink on the strip. We weren't acknowledged by any other staff during our visit. Customer service could use a little work but overall this place was dope and I'd be open to visiting again. read more

Found this place by accident. We were walking the strip and as we were going to head back to our room at Luxor - I wanted to go into MGM and see what was new. Right when you walk in the front entrance, you see Level up on the left. Tons of arcade games and a bar. They were setting something up on the stage and within minutes I realized it was Karaoke Night. It was so so fun! So many people signed up. Locals who go there frequently and people who are in vegas for the first time. The DJ was so cool and funny - kept everyone entertained. The drinks were a bit pricey but I mean.. its vegas so *shrugs* Definitely coming back next time I'm in vegas to enjoy some games & hopefully karaoke night. read more

Cool little arcade in the MGM Grand! First I would like to say that the art on the walls and pillars is amazing! I absolutely loved it. They have games, pool tables, bar & seating areas. Nice a little place to pass time. 21 plus. It's a nice place for the younger crowd or people not so much into gambling. We causally stopped in while waiting for our table at a nearby restaurant. Just kind of looked around but didn't play anything but if I had more time I definitely would have. Would for sure go back to play games & hangout here when I'm back in Vegas. Let's keep in mind that we're in the midst of a pandemic. That said... Level Up Top Shelf Long Island Ice Teas: pop...pop and more pop. I'm convinced that these didn't include an ounce of alcohol... Nachos: quantity for two with cheap ingredients. 100% from the can. BBQ Brisket Sandwich: great flavor but poor cut of meat. Nice size sandwich with at least 30% gooey fat on the meat. Served with delicious seasoned fried potatoes (if you like your fries like that). Service: Bus boy, Davy, was the best part of this experience. His energy and service get 5's. Drinks were okay. The Irish Tea was very refreshing! It was a $15 cocktail that combined Irish Jameson whiskey, tea, lemon lime, club soda among other ingredients. The bartender was very nice despite being super busy. The place has a Dave and Buster's vibe that takes it "to the streets." Graffiti everywhere. Almost like on that movie, Night at the Roxbury, where the protagonists wanted to create a club where the inside looked like you were outside but in the streets. Video games and beer pong tables await your evening if you come here. I'm going to leave a 5 star review because I believe in underdogs. Reading other reviews I've noticed that the bar and food and games aren't much to speak of so the overall rating hasn't been high. This review is about the Zero Latency - Virtual Reality experience that is only available in the Level Up lounge. My brother and I were really into video games so I decided to surprise him with this experience and he was very pleasantly surprised! My super pregnant wife also enjoyed it, and took all the liability on herself to go in. The staff kept an eye on her the whole time in case she needed assistance. Firstly, be prepared for the price, $50 per person for a quality and novel VR experience isn't a lot when you consider the number of hi tech gadgets they place on you for the game. You can have up to 8 players in the game, just be sure to reserve your spot before you go so you can choose the type of game you want and you don't have to wait as long. We were given a motion capture suit, with a VR helmet and headphones and a gun controller that felt weighty like a gun. The experience felt so real that I actually leaned on a crate that wasn't there and almost lost my balance. Singularity was the game of choice, sci-fi killing robots... I feel that they are learning our moves as we play the game... the employees said it was the most challenging and fun of the games but they also have a kids game and zombie game. Highly recommended if you at the MGM Grand and want a novel experience. The movies of the future! read more

Kind of a sad empty place. We went at 6pm before a Ka show and my wife and I made up 2 of 4 patrons drinking here, even though there was room for hundreds of people. Had to ask if there was a happy hour and they mentioned 2 for 1 (of the same drink) til 7pm. Wasn't sure when it started since nothing advertised the deal. I liked that it was spacious and enough seating to hang out with friends. Drinks are basically strip casino price. Service was average. Virtual Reality My daughter and her friend did the virtual reality twice, they enjoyed it so much. I also enjoyed watching on the computer and hearing them scream when the robots got too close. The experience is so immersive, in 30 minutes, you will walk over a mile, your adrenaline will get flowing, you will sweat, you will lose your balance and fall. Sure the story and graphics are like other games and do not mimic reality (it is a game and not military combat training after all), but the experience is one worth having. Most machines do not work! A waste of money! No one was there to speak to about the machines not working

As fun as the likes of Hakkasan, Marquee, and XS can be (so many pretty girls!), clubbing has never really been my thing. However, spots like Level Up? Now we're talking! Though, I'll admit I'm not sure why I found it THAT interesting. it's not like they're super unique, especially in a place like Vegas. What's more, I can't even blame the sixteen-year-old in me! Otherwise, I'd be all over the club scene, awkwardly trying to meet girls. Just like not sixteen-year-old me...ha! In all seriousness though, Level Up is a pretty decent spot for something more low-key than hitting a club. Like so many of the "bar-cade" spots that are popping up these days, they have a whole variety of games here to keep you entertained - pool tables, Pop-A-Shot, foosball, beer pong, arcade games (giant Pac-Man!), and some bowling lanes/machines. In true Vegas fashion though, they also have some arcade machines that you can wager money on, video poker, and a whole set-up/production to jazz up a typical blackjack/roulette game. While we tried our hand at a bunch of the aforementioned games, we were most excited to play some shuffleboard (shit-talking and wagers of shots may or may not have been discussed at length). Too bad their whole set-up was AWFUL. The table felt longer than most I've played on, but the bigger issue was with the powdery material they used to cover their board (instead of the typical silicone beads). I know that sounds petty, but really did make the game a lot less fun. As far as the drinks go, the pours seemed generous enough, but it's hard to say for certain; since we were expecting to do some shots, we only had a round of beers. What's more, since my friend paid, I can't even say how their prices compare (though it's Vegas, so "pricey" wouldn't be an entirely inaccurate assumption). All in all, while I can't say my friends and I had an amazing time, Level Up was far from a terrible way for us to kill some time. Plus, I'd be remiss not to point that we didn't check out what's probably the highlight of what they have to offer - their VR experience! While not truly free-roaming (you're still corded and seemingly limited to one room), it's probably the closest you're going to get to a real life zombie apocalypse. Sat down at the bar about 11am this morning, put some money in and started gambling. Out popped a coupon for a free drink. Waited for the bartender and asked if there was some lemonade, "No" was the response. Then my husband asked if there was Guinness and "only domestic available" was the response. We said we would save it for later and then he responded "You can only use it now." At this point I was overwhelmed with his charming personality that we decided to leave. I grabbed the coupon and was going to give it to the couple sitting next to me. I hadn't even approached them yet and he yelled "Those aren't transferable." The worst customer service ever!!!! Been here 3 times and all 3 times i visited, the bartenders are A-holes!!! If I was the owner I would retrain them in customer service or replace them! Customer service goes a long way! People come to Vegas from all around the world spend thousands of dollars on a vacation and to be treated like dirt is so disrespectful! 5 stars for the VR experience "Singularity." Generally, I am not into first person shooter games, but this blew my mind. Really, really well done. 30 minutes and like 10 lbs of gear felt like 5 minutes. I was not sold on VR before this, but now... I can see it. The first time we went - customer service was amazing. Props to those guys. 4/19 at around 8 - 10 pm. I am the girl who screamed "Noooooooooo", when I saw my sister fall over the ledge...You guys rock your job and I hope your boss sees this and gives you some credit! The second time we tried to go, the guy behind the counter sucked. He made this almost a 1 star review. I think that was on 4/21 at around 8 to 10 pm. I recognize you would rather be at Hakkasan hanging out with pretty girls, but your reputation is the only thing you have - if you sign up to do something, commit and do the best you can. our first bartender charged up 17$ for 5 shots and then we went back 3 hours later and then bald bartender tried charging us 70$ for 3 shots and he had the audacity to say "no you were charged 70$" even though we have a bank statement, we also asked If it was happy hour pricing and he said they don't do happy hour, even though we learned that they do happy hour on Wednesday so that was a lie straight to our face, then the bald stupid looking bartender snatched them away after we tried to show him our bank statement of how much we were charged and didn't talk to us, terrible customer service and terrible bar area, I would give negative stars If I could! Level Up overall is an interesting and comfortable gaming bar to check out. There are a variety of gaming and non-gaming machines for patrons to try. And there is a bar that sells drinks at, surprise, Las Vegas Strip prices. I personally think they might be shooting themselves in the foot with the standard high Strip prices, but what do I know? I don't run a bar. We primarily came here to try out the Zero Latency free roam VR experience. Specifically, we played the zombie survival scenario. Free roam virtual reality, in short, is you, experiencing VR, in a real large empty room that you can walk around in virtually while you see/hear an entirely different environment through the goggles and headphones you are wearing. It costs $50 for 30 minutes of gameplay. The concept is totally leading edge, but the execution is mediocre and does not utilize the technology to its potential. The technology is meant to create the illusion of movement through virtual environments by tricking you into thinking you are traveling hundreds or thousands of feet by virtually "snaking" you around the one real room you are in. But the scenario you are put through at Level Up's experience is basically a single room experience. You can move around the one room/space (or go up one of two elevators), but that's it. There ends up being no purpose whatsoever to move around. So if you are an avid VR gamer or a fan of new gaming concepts, it's definitely worth trying. You can feel the potential there and it's exciting. But, if you are only casually interested in VR then this is likely a waste of $50 for you. There are more reasonably priced stationary type VR experiences around for you to try. read more
