For St. Patrick's Day, they sell Blarney Stones. They are so delicious... I bought some to bring back to work. One quote from a co-worker "I have no idea how to describe the deliciousness that I just consumed". No one in Oklahoma City knows what they are, or sells them. It's now known just as Sweet Surprises, as the original sold it quite some time ago. But it's legendary!

The day we were there she had Coconut Cream pie, still warm from the oven, and a lemon cake with lemon creme filling. Both were wonderful! There are different hot specials each day, plus a limited list of sandwiches. I was saving room for the pie, so I had the Deluxe Grilled Cheese. It included bacon, lettuce, tomato and one of three cheeses on sour dough toast, plus chips or fries on the side for $8.95. I chose the Swiss cheese. Best grilled cheese I've had in a long time! Mom had the burger, and lemon cake. I got a bite of mom's lemon cake, and it was also wonderful. The restaurant is open 11 - 2 for lunch, and 5-7 for dinner during the week, and lunch only on Saturdays. If you're visiting Alabaster Caverns or just looking for a destination to drive or ride to, this place is worth the trip! It's small with only about four tables and it looked like she only baked one pie and one cake, so if you're going with a group, you might want to call a day ahead to be sure she makes enough dessert.

The staff were struggling a little bit because they were new to their area of the line but they swiftly called for backup as a solution! It was heck noisy in there so it took a little bit to explain all the details that I wanted. Hubs and I breezed right on to the front as others were waiting for full-on food-food. Super sweet staff, good looking out. You could go here for dinner once a week and still never run out of new combinations to try on both the desert and hot food menu.

After ordering, I went back to the counter and asked if I could purchase a side of lettuce and tomato for one of the junior burgers. I was not asking for it for free--I specifically offered to pay for it. The manager, Christy, told me no and said there was no way to ring it up. What was most disappointing was the lack of customer service. There was no effort to find a solution or offer an alternative, and the interaction came across as unfriendly and unhelpful. For a customer placing a large order, I expected a little more willingness to help with such a simple request. Unfortunately, this experience left a negative impression on our visit.
