I worked with J&B Tax Accountants for 20 years for both my business and personal taxes. When they…read moresold to Strategic Tax & Accounting, I assumed staying on would be a seamless transition. I couldn't have been more wrong. My tax documents were submitted on May 18th. Originally, I worked with Carter, who promised completed taxes by early July. However, my June 1st request for an appointment was completely ignored. He never answered calls, emails, or messages. The only way to get an update was to physically go into the office 2 or 3 times--where he repeatedly assured me I was "at the top of the list" and promised completion "next week." After being strung along until early August, I sent a message stating I was moving on to a new accountant. Lyndsay then stepped in, expressed empathy for my frustration, and promised to wrap up my return by August 5th. Unfortunately, the cycle repeated. The final straw was a firm commitment to deliver the completed return by the end of the day today, which passed without a single word, phone call, or update. I have wasted over three months with this firm. I would rather start completely from scratch with someone new than listen to one more empty promise.

Was this outlined prior? I am not used to my tax folks charging hourly. Is this your intention going forward?" Brett's Response: "That is the oddest professional practice business model I have heard..... working for free? If there is some error or omission in our work, we address that without charge of course. Maybe that is why they have not been charging you for these amendments, because the returns were filed incorrectly? Also, it seems they have been unable to resolve the issue, so you may be getting what you pay for..... I apologize if there was any misunderstanding that I will charge a fee for any services provided. My time is my inventory for sale. I cannot give it away. That said, at least the mystery is solved for both years. So you can both take this off your list of things that have to be figured out." *** "I sent *** the invoice because she is my client and asked me to work with you to determine why Maryland still has a tax debt attached to her tax identification number. I do not have an engagement letter creating any direct client relationship with you." --- This is something I would never expect from any business person, let alone the owner of a successful company. I reached our personally first and he did not change his tone. I am extremely disappointed.

He allowed financial decisions that put me in financial harms way to occur and he failed to advise me of the risk. He conspired with my husband to defraud me of my assets and wealth from approximately 1998 until our divorce in 2008. He prepared my tax returns knowing that I was not the benefactor of my wealth and income, and I am still suffering the consequences of his negligent and unethical behavior as my CPA.
