This was leaps and bounds above all the others. I had walked by it last summer on a walk and immediately set a reminder in my phone to sign my son up for this summer. It isn't just how well organized it is and the fact that the kids are outside in the water learning new things and challenging themselves every day, it's the way the director/owner (and all the counselors) speak to the children. It's exactly how you'd want someone leading your child while they are away from home - they teach respect, are firm in holding the kids accountable for behavior, but all in the name of having a positive experience. We will absolutely be signing him up here next year for at least half of the summer. They offer full day and half day, we did full day (8-4), but I ended up picking him up around 2 a couple of the days just because it was so hot out. I have heard the counselors consistently encourage and actively ensure the kids drink water and reapply sunscreen and you can tell they genuinely care about each and every kid. This is only my son's third day and he's already bonded with the staff and talks about Matty (the owner) multiple times a day. He's never been on any board other than a boogie board and within 1 hour on his first day he was paddling out on his own on a paddle board. I can just see his confidence beaming from this camp. I came back to Huntington Beach 2 weeks later with my boys and booked private lessons for all 3 of us per recommedation from the owners. They matched the instructors with each of us very well. Mine was 6'3" and could easily handle holding my board and helping me figure it out. My 10 yr old instructor had him surfing within 45min on day 1. The young lady instructing my 7yr old adjusted board, and had him up and surfing on day 2. At 56, with 3 knee injuries, including a torn meniscus, was able to stand up finally on day 3, 4 times, in some frothy (yet not too big) waves. The beach area is an ideal learning platform as it has no rocks, coral, or other obstructions underwater except lots of hard packed sand. In the end we had a special father & sons memory of learning to surf together. We were all successful. We had an amazing time, and the staff could not have been more helpful, encouraging, and supportive. I highly recommend private lessons, because I feel like the ROI is 90+% with private lessons, and about 45-55% with group lessons. IMO group lessons can be good later on as refresher.

We met by the bathrooms of El Porto by lifeguard station 12 and picked up our wetsuits from their cars. From there, we headed towards a less crowded portion of the water by the rocks, and did a quick yoga flow before going into the basics of how to pop up and hold the board. After the lesson, we got assigned our boards and went off into the water. I think both instructors tried to spread their attention as evenly as possible. I was able to stand up multiple times and surf some one-foot waves (go me!). The time flew by, and once it was over, we brought the surfboards back to their cars. They'll take Venmo for tips. I would suggest wearing your flip flops to the beach since the ground was really hot, and also bringing a water bottle for post-surf. There's paid parking available in the lot although the meters seem to be broken since I still got a ticket even though my parking should've been valid. Otherwise there's very limited street parking. You can leave your valuables in the instructor's car. You can book private lessons on the website or small group lessons as well. Definitely book the lesson - it's a great workout and you'll have so much fun!

In comparison, IVA had an easy enrollment and application process. I was able to contact someone from the school every time I had a question or concern. The student-teacher ratio is something LBUSD has historically fallen short on, and with IVA teachers knew my son by name. The learning environment became a small community built on pillars of intellectual virtues. As a parent, I appreciated the one-on-one communication from my child's instructors. I also enjoyed the social gatherings of parents, students and instructors, when I did have time to participate. Really, it's a private school feel without the price tag. My son was afforded opportunities he would have never had experienced in LBUSD as far as athletics and extracurricular activities such as weight lifting club, photography, and yearbook committee. Geographically, the area of the school is a little rough, but the school does have a nice outdoor area in the back for student activities away from the "distractions" of LB Blvd.

I love all the arts and crafts the kids brought home and the kids enjoyed going on mini field trips. The class sizes are small so the kids really get to bond with the other children. We were also able to celebrated birthdays and holidays it was great. The campus feels safe and secure as it is a closed campus. It's also a nut-free campus for those children with nut allergies. With that in mind, I wanna say I am deeply grateful for this school. They have great systems in place with low ratio and really teach the little ones a lot while they're there. I can solidly say that at two years old my daughter can count from one to 20 and sing the whole alphabet along with about 15 different nursery, rhymes and stack blocks and has very advanced fine motor and motor skills because of the school. I'm a licensed OT and always felt safe with and confident in staff. Mrs. Nali, Mrs Dhammika, and Mrs Nayana are well educated in this age group, patient, and loving. All of the staff are truly wonderful. We went from infant, to wobbler, to toddler and transitioned very well. I don't know the frequency but every time my child which class they gave me a comprehensive developmental checklist to tell me what my child was doing or wasn't doing that was on track for proper development or not and that is huge. When you're a busy parent and don't always notice some of the things that Are typical or atypical to have some professional eyes to help you understand where your child is developmentally is huge. They are CPR trained and do a great job with making sure they're fed and changed consistently. My baby never came home hungry or never was crying when I picked her up and never got diaper rash there. If you choose to be part of the little app, you will get photos of your child. Once every couple weeks in the classroom is playing with the other children. They also send little videos and they do little Halloween parades and classroom parties. The Christmas parade is precious too! The focus of MONTESSORI is self-sufficiency which as an occupational therapist I really love. She would come home and if she spilled something, she would run right away to try to clean it up. She very much wanted to learn how to do things on her own and she knew how to threw away her own trash, which was not something I taught her at home necessarily lol It truly is adorable and prepares your baby for a successful road ahead with school and life beyond. My only thing I would change is having carpet or soft floor in the infant room vs hard floors. Other than that, everything really is done perfectly, and they have a lovely little outdoor space that they take them to a few times a day where they can ride bikes and do the slide and all of that. Learning how to operate in a group and look at what the rest of the group is doing and follow along is a critical life skill, and my baby has transitioned to preschool seamlessly because of her experience at this other school. In fact, one of her current teachers used to work at Wee care as well and has positive things to say.

My son has been going to this school for 3 years, that is until we found out the truth about the…read moreplace we called home. My son has seen his friends get grabbed, physically removed for messing around, get hit (the teachers would defend the people hurting them), and racism. I've also spoken to some of the moms that have left recent reviews to get their feedback, and they told me their reviews were taken down by the school. When me and my husband looked at these reviews we have also noticed that a lot of the stuff stated in the reviews are still happening. When my son and his class went to the park, he saw the teacher yell a derogatory Asian slur at his old classmate, then when my son came home telling me the news, me and my husband were furious that a teacher at the school has taught my son discriminatory language. We were angry that we were paying over $1,000 in tuition per month for my son to learn hate before fractions. I'm about to list more situations in this review: 1. My son is more quiet and doesn't get in trouble at all, but he has watched his friends get grabbed, cussed at for telling the teacher to not touch them, the teacher started a dynamic which disrespects kids, and they're rude to their parents. 2. The teacher would talk about her husbands g-string, and would talk about sexual things that I don't want my son to hear. 3. The teacher would also take away my son's lunch if he had to re-do the work, and there was this one incident where he didn't listen to the teacher because he was starving and just started eating his lunch, then got kept from going to the park when the class was going, then for the rest of the day he was isolated in a classroom and made to think he was a bad person when really it's the school being cruel. 4. During games class, I find it unsafe for kids to play in an alleyway that has homeless people in it, and I also find it unsafe that they have to move every time a car comes by. 5. When me and my husband were on the fence questioning ourselves about if this is the right place for children, we sent our kid to the school the next morning with a tiny notebook and a pencil and we told our son to take notes of everything that everyone says and happens in those bad situations. When my son came home me and my husband took a look at the notebook, and me and my husband were pissed. From what the notebook said we were upset to learn that the teachers actually violently grabbed a kid that didn't do his work because he was thinking about stuff emotionally at his desk. 6. From everything that we have our son tell us all of these people there sound very unskilled, and should work with kids. Me and my husband admired the Waldorf scene of it being creative, hands on, and supportive but these teachers aren't supportive at all to certain kids who are different then what they like, me and my husband talked to the parents of the kids who have been violently punched or grabbed by teachers, or students. And these parents were very nice people, from this other review, I read all I have to say is you shouldn't learn about the school because it's a cult on my prospective, it's not inclusive if not, everyone is supported at the school then it's not supportive at all, the tuition is over $1000 for your kids to be wearing hate,and to be playing in a alleyway with shattered glass and homeless people. And I fully support all of these kids who have left the school because so many kids have left that they had to merge a few grades together because the parents weren't the same truth I have. and every time me and my husband would have meetings with these teachers. About how they would act with other kids. They would deflect it towards the kid who is actually getting bullied because they are different. the school has also let my son learn about the N-word, sexual jokes, sex, and racist jokes from other kids, This school dose not censor what the children talk about. What I have to say after my experience here is get your kid out before this school is a huge waste of money, and time. For all of the people reading this review get your kids out of there, or if you're learning about the school do not let your kid out there, and maple village if you respond to this review don't try to say none of this happened, because you guys know it did.

We came into town for a short trip to check out a college for our son. We stayed an extra day to enjoy the beach. My 17 year old son wanted to take a private surf lesson as he had never surfed before. After attempting to contact some other surf schools without success, I reached out to Let's Go Surf School and the owner, Carlos, scheduled a private lesson for my son for the next day! The owner showed up with the other instructor, Rod, and both of them taught my son how to surf in just two hours! They provided a wetsuit that was clean and dry, a surf board, and even provided snacks! I highly recommend Let's Go Surf School if you want individualized lessons from people who really care about you and love surfing! read more

I loved my experience with Let's Go Surf School! Carlos was so helpful and accommodating with my schedule and gave a very informative lesson! Rod was an incredible instructor! He was so much fun and so patient and supportive while I struggled. Thanks to him I was standing by the second lesson. Surfing is by no means easy and I've got a lonnnngg way to go, but Rod made it enjoyable. I will definitely be going back for more lessons! As the customer the instructor did a very great job explaining the basics before you get on the board and out into the water. Than did an excellent job taking you out into the waters allowing you to practice what he explained earlier. Surfing can be very difficult and the instructor is very helpful, patience and motivational when you fall or make a mistake. I personally really enjoyed the fact that the instructor never gives you nothing you can't handle out in the waters. read more

My daughters (10 and 12) love the beach and were eager to learn to surf. We found Carlos and he was awesome! He was super available and ready for us. He was great with explaining everything for beginners and awesome with teaching them surf etiquette out in the water. The girls started with boards he brought and it made it super easy to get started. He's a super nice guy. My girls loved surfing with Carlos and are excited to get back in the water! Thats what everyone says. People fly in from all over the world. I loved it and can't wait to go back.

He makes the kids feel comfortable and builds their confidence in the water. My daughter has improved a tremendous amount since starting with him! I booked surf lessons and clearly communicated three times that I am an intermediate surfer, which…read moremeans the instructor needed to bring an appropriate surfboard. Instead, he arrived with one that had a broken leash and spent 90% of the time going back to shore, leaving me without instruction. This was beyond frustrating and completely unprofessional. To make matters worse, the merchant promised to take pictures during the session for two hours. She showed up late, despite the sky being clear and bright 30 minutes before the lesson was set to start. In the end, she only took photos for half an hour and never sent them to me despite my constant reminders. This experience was a total disappointment and an absolute waste of time and money. I would never recommend this service to anyone. The merchant was also being racist, and accusatory. I have the recording if anyone is interested. Overall, just stay away to keep your insanity. Many other surf schools in Huntington and I trust there are many other non racist people.

Both of my girls got up on their boards their very first time surfing. They didn't even want to come in when the lesson was over even though it was pouring down rain. Nick was patient, encouraging, and just a really good time to be around. He made the whole experience easy and memorable for our family and took great care of us the entire session. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great surf lesson, especially with kids. We'd absolutely do it again.

The lesson could not have been better. Aloha brothers provides wetsuits and boards as part of the lesson. The instructor, Taylor, was so kind and patient and made the lesson so fun that neither kid wanted to take a break during the 90-minute session. To put that into perspective, we had to walk three blocks with surfboards, and they required three breaks to make it through that experience. Both boys ended up being able to stand on the board and could not wait for their next lesson. My son struggles to keep doing something if it's difficult, but thanks to Taylor's encouragement, he kept failing and kept getting back up and trying again. Communication with Nick, the owner, was fantastic. The price was great for a two-person private lesson (check the website for the latest pricing).
