Our situation: 2 working "parents" and an 8 month old puppy named Hazel (who has been going to Mia since we got her 3 months ago). Our pup is a pit bull mix who LOVES other doggies. Flexibility - we are never held to any set schedule and are able to text at a moment's notice to bring Hazel in, or postpone to another day 9. Temperament Testing - Mia understands dog psychology and will temperament test each dog. I know some day cares turn away pit bulls and other breeds "just because" when in reality, behavior has nothing to do with the breed. 8. Pictures - We get multiple pics every single time Hazel is in daycare + LGFAW has a Facebook page with other fun pics and picture collages go up! Doggy parents love pics of their little ones having fun and being cute :) 7. Friendliness/Responsiveness - Isn't nice to give business to a good person? And Mia is always one to give a quick reply. 6. In-Home Setting - To me, better than a corporate daycare with hourly employees. Mia loves dogs and just clearly has experience and knowledge about canine health and behavior. 5. Expertise - Mia has given us several little tips about training, feeding, etc that we have been able to implement. 4. Location & Price - very accessible, easy parking, competitive pricing 3. Tired Puppy - on the days Hazel goes to daycare, she falls asleep in the car on the way home, and sleeps all night. A nice reprieve so we can go out after work. 2. Training - one of my concerns in having a puppy go to day care would be that she would pick up some bad habits. We talked with Mia about some of the things we were working on with Hazel (ex, no jumping, no play biting people, no jumping on furniture) and in 3 months Hazel has not developed any bad habits, and is actually just even better with dogs and people, has no toy/bone/food aggression, and that is a result with her frequent interaction with other dogs under the care of Mia. 1. Hazel clearly loves going - even though she hasn't been able to go for over 2 weeks now, every morning she waits by the door hoping that she gets to go to LGFAW. When we turn on the street she perks up and when she sees Mia there is no controlling her tail :) Although - a little sad when I pick her up and she tries to turn around and go back inside with her friends! We'll be taking Hazel here for a long time, she loves it, it's so easy and worry-free, and LGFAW has met or exceeded all of our expectations! read more

This is my first Yelp review, but felt compelled to write one after searching for years to find someone that treated my little girl (Emmy) with the same love and attention that I do! I was referred to Mia (and the Let's Go For A Walk family) through a mutual friend after having had many bad experiences with other "so called" dog loving boarding providers. What I found was a loving and nurturing environment where Emmy was cared for as a member of the family/pack and not just a number. It was important to me to find a kennel free safe home environment were she would be around other well mannered dogs, what I found was even better. Mia lives in a beautiful and safe home near downtown Culver City with a pool and great back yard, but conveniently located near the 405 and 10 or in my case on the way to LAX. You only have to speak with Mia for a few minutes to know that she is a dog lover. It soon became clear that she was picky about the type of dogs she welcomes into her pack, which I LOVE...I tend to spoil my little girl and while I hope she is very well adjusted, she often doesn't take well to new environments, but not with Mia! She was immediately welcomed into the house by the other dogs which Mia cares for on a regular basis and immediately started playing and running around. In the 5 days that I was gone on family vacation, not a day went by that I didn't get pictures text-ed to me or updates detailing all the fun things Emmy and the rest of the pack had done that day. They even taught her how to swim (not even kidding as they sent the pictures to prove it), what I came back to was a clearly a VERY HAPPY and tired puppy that did not want to leave. My husband and I got our little Rogue, about 4 months ago. In the beginning we stressed out about who to choose to take Rogue on walks during the day, since we both work. We tried a couple dog walkers that would come to our home for a half hour and supposedly take Rogue for a walk. Come to find out a lot of times they would just play with him in the house and wouldn't take him for any walks. Plus they would charge outrageous rates for these "walks". I stumbled upon Let's go for a Walk on Yelp and saw all the great reviews and thought I'd give Mia a try. Boy am I glad I did!!! Rogue is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and when he was littler he was a little shy with other dogs, but Mia knew exactly what to do. When we first met her, she had Rogue get acquainted with the backyard before she let any other dogs out. Then one by one she let the other dogs out for Rogue to get use to. Needless to say, Rogue did great due to Mia's calm and attentive behavior! Now, just after 4 visits to Mia's, Rogue is so confident with other dogs, and runs right up to them, plus he walks better on the leash, something that I doubt I would have gotten from those dog walkers who charge an arm and leg. Every time I drop Rogue off at Mia's he lights up and nearly knocks me out with his wagging tail when he see's her, which to me is a tale tale sign that Mia is attentive and caring and knows what she's doing as pack leader. She is so sweet, trustworthy, her prices are great, and I feel so at ease knowing that Rogue is getting the love, attention, and exercise that he so needs and deserves during the day. On top of all that, Mia also sends and posts pictures of the dogs playing and having fun (some of the pictures are hilarious!). Mia has been walking my dog Hass for a few months now and I can't say enough about her! She is simply outstanding! Hass is a MinPin who has quite a few behavioral issues with people and other dogs (extremely fearful and protective over me). Walking him has always been a challenge, so when I decided to get a dog walker to help while I was at work, I knew I needed someone who I could count on. Mia has gone above and beyond my expectations. When she first met Hass, she let him approach her. And when she didn't make eye contact or reach out to touch him, I was sold. Not very many people know how to deal with a fearful dog, but Mia handles him with such care and respect. After the first walk, Mia sent me a photo and a little message detailing their walk. It was so personal and sweet! And after the first few walks, Mia messaged me that she and Hass had been working on sitting at curbs and when she stops walking. I was amazed as I had thought that she would only come to exercise him, not train him and work on his issues! She even started walking him with other dogs. And then I started to see a change in his behavior at home. Hass has grown to not only trust, but love Mia! I couldn't be more happy with her and her services. She is gentle yet strong and capable of handling any situation that might arise. She is a true pack leader and genuinely cares for her customers. As far as Let's Go For A Walk goes, Mia is great about scheduling. She is considerate and will always work with you to find times that work best, or help if you are in a pinch. First of all, get in while you can. When word gets out about how fantastic this company is, it's going to be hard to secure a spot! Unlike most boarding facilities, Mia runs a very small shop. She has strict limits on how many dogs she will allow in at any time, making it perfect for shy dogs who don't fare well in large cage-free facilities. Sure, she could make more money if she accepted more dogs each day, but her mission is to provide the best experience for your four legged friend available--from walks to training to supervised play in her enclosed back yard, she keeps the numbers small so she's never spread too thin. Mia is clearly in this business first and foremost because she loves dogs, and it shows! I happened to pass her taking a walk with my dog the other day when I was working in the area, and was struck by how well everyone was walking together! Don't let her super sweet demeanor fool you--when she's out with the dogs there's no question about who is the pack leader! My dog was happily walking along with the pack, obviously enjoying herself, in a way I've never seen before. I was truly blown away. I love my old kennel, but quality care like this is beyond hard to find. Watch out area boarders, Let's Go For a Walk has raised the bar for service and care in West LA! read more

We were heading out of town for four days, the first time I have ever been away from our little ones (we have three dogs) for that long, so I was a little nervous about how they would do with someone coming in and out to care for them. Mia, came over in advance of our trip to meet our pups. They loved her instantly. I felt much better after seeing their interaction, that it would be okay. Mia sent me daily updates and photos of our "fur babies," which my kids loved, and just helped to make us feel good to see their happy little faces. We returned from our trip to happy babies! While we were away they had someone to come in and feed them, play with them, and love them, just as if we had been there ourselves, and our report back from Mia was positive, they were well behaved, and she enjoyed them as well. So, good news all around! I can't say enough about Mia. We were so happy with her, and the love and attention she provided our pups while we were gone. 100% class act, professional, friendly, and really cares about the animals she is caring for. After living in LA for over a year and a half we have finally found a home away from home for our Hamish! We tried so many doggie day area in the area and it got to the point that our 85lbs chocolate lab would not get out of the truck when we would try to drop him off. We heard about Mia from a local dog owner and decided to go check her out. I toured her place with my two children and our fur child and she made us and our dog feel right at home. The grassy yard is perfect for him to play with the other dogs and get a bit of fetch in too. There is a great shaded area and on the hot days they love hanging out in the house with AC. We love getting pictures of Hamish throughout the day and seeing who his latest pals are and what he is getting up to. Mia takes him for multiple walks during the day and he is always totally played out when he gets home. My favorite things about Mia are the little considerate gestures; often when we pick Hamish up she surprises us with a complimentary bath or grooming. And she knows I have little kiddos with me in the car so she brings Hamish right out to my car. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Mia :) read more

Wow, I can't even describe how impressed I am by Mia's ability to love, train and take care of the dogs at her daycare. I have been taking my dog Sophie to a cage free daycare in the valley for several years now and was not planning on leaving them until I met Mia. I figured I would try her out because of how conveniently located she was and the amazing vibe I got from her the second I met her. I will never leave Sophie with anyone else again. I have left my dog there twice in the last month and both times, she came back happy as a clam. While I was gone, I received several heartwarming text messages from her with pictures of their hikes, laying in bed in the morning or just hanging out in the large back yard. Not only did Sophie enjoy her stay with Mia, she also learned how to walk on a leash without pulling!! This is a challenge I have had with Sophie for years and after 2 days in Mia's care, she trained her to walk properly. I was referred to Mia when she still lived in Honolulu. My toy poodle, Romy, was anti-social and a bit neurotic (ok, a lot neurotic) so I was housebound, afraid to leave her with strangers. Within a very short time I was able to leave Romy for several hours and, eventually, for overnight doggie slumber parties! Mia is a miracle worker with animals. Romy loved her long, woodsey walks on hiking trails, her daily massage, and especially romping with the other dogs....I guess she just needed some reassurance, training, guidance and friendship with other dogs. She had full run of the house and yard (no kennels or cages at this place) and always came home happy and relaxed...not to mention bathed and clipped. I can't say enough about Mia and her uncanny sixth sense with animals. Mia gave me so much advice about Romy and how to handle her. It's easy to see why the dogs love her so much. I am so thankful to have found Let's Go for a Walk! Mia is sweet, kind, and really knows dog behavior- she is great with my very energetic, curious-to-the-point-of naughty retriever, Maya. My dog had never been to day care before, I made a major life change from an evening restaurant work schedule to a day job with long hours which brought about a need for reliable care for my high-energy, separation-anxiety prone pup. I have been thrilled with the quality of care: Maya gets to play outside with other dogs, go on walks, and be in a home environment. She loves Mia, and she loves going to daycare. Some matters are beyond important no matter how busy life gets. This was a stressful week and I was traveling. One non issue we did not worry about was our canine and feline crew being ok while we were gone. Mia literally for us is a godsend. A woman who is innately calm and kind and knows each of our six pets quirky personalities AND followed every detail of our idiosyncratic directions from medicine to how to win over a shy cat so he lets you rub his belly. We got updates while we were away regularly and were chuckling at the loved creatures antics instead of worrying about them. Rupert, Avery, Geezie, Mimmo, Harpo n Lil Red were treated like the lil people in fur suits that they are. Rupert and Avery, our dogs got plenty of exercise and when we came back it was unnerving how they didn't seem to miss us very much at all. Could not ask for a better pet sitter:) read more

I live in Hawaii, and used Mia's services when she was operating her business here. I used her on several occasions for dogsitting while I was traveling. I had a small, senior dog that required a bit of extra attention. She was never one to go to the dog park and socialize with other dogs, but she loved going to Auntie Mia's house and loved all the dogs there. Mia would send me pics on my phone to keep me in the loop and I knew my dog was well taken care of. I had several situations that I had to leave the island suddeny for unexpected trips, and I could count on Mia to always watch Miss Mocha; it was a huge stress relief knowing that was always taken care of. Morgan's favorite part is the outdoor area he loooves to be outside so I know even though he is away from his Mom & Dad he's having lots of fun! Maybe even too much fun! We have a Shiba Inu that is not yet 2. Being a puppy he has tons of energy and needs to go to day care several days a week. I had been bringing him to three different doggie daycares in the city before finding Let's Go For a Walk. Mia is amazing! She truly knows canine behavior and how to handle a pack. She also genuinely treats each dog like her own. I am more than reassured knowing that Sebastian is in good hands, has a huge backyard to run around, plays with his friends all day and on top of that, goes for several walks a day. What a great experience it has been being able to rely on such a professional! There are so many dog walkers to pick from, but Mia really takes it a step further and helps the dogs learn as they walk. We can go on with our day knowing our Sophie (who can be a HUGE handful) is going to be taken care of.
