I am writing this with an extremely heavy heart in the hope that it saves another family from…read moreexperiencing the devastating loss we went through. We tragically lost our puppy due to what we believe was critical oversight and a failure of care at Boxford Animal Hospital. Our puppy ingested a foreign object and was showing multiple clear, classic signs of an intestinal blockage. Despite bringing him into the clinic several times as well as multiple phone calls raising our concerns, the veterinary team completely missed several key indications of a foreign body in his abdomen. Because the obstruction was not caught or diagnosed in time, our puppy's condition deteriorated, and he ultimately passed away. To make matters immeasurably worse, the practice's conduct following his death was objectionable. During multiple follow-up phone calls, the staff was condescending, showed very little sympathy for our grief, and even attempted to shift the blame onto us as owners rather than addressing their own diagnostic failures.

He growled and showed his teeth so we put a muzzle on him for the first time ever. He did not lunge or try to bite anyone. Suddenly our paperwork all says "tries to bite tech in face." Upon returning, after giving our dog trazedone, our dog was muzzled and held in a headlock again, he tried to get away scared, and on his files were marked "tried to bite" "aggressive" "bites." Our dog is the kindest sweetest boy he is a puppy and he was scared. This place hates large dogs. They are mean and arrogant. They refused to sell me medicine that I can buy on Amazon because they hate my large dog. They lie. Keep your pets away.

We started with a manners class that was taught by Jess. Jess is able to bring the best of the dog training knowledge base into her practice, and then she helps owners apply it to the unique temperament of their dog. While it was an 8 person/dog class, we walked out with particular ways to work with our puppy that got us the results we wanted. She did this with each person/dog in the class. As a result of that very positive experience we contacted Jess to work with us on some specific problem behaviors. One had to do with walking on a leash. Our puppy would walk for a bit and then go totally nuts jumping at whomever was the walker, grabbing and biting the leash, and generally being totally out of control. Jess, with her dog focused observational skills, was able to diagnose what the trigger was, helped us establish ways to shift away from that, and set us up to be successful. It worked. We stuck with what she said and walks are now totally pleasant. Jess listens, sends extensive feedback and follow-up, and does NOT have a cookie cutter approach. I highly recommend her.

HOWEVER, we received a call that our dog had a scratch during daycare and it "didn't happen there." It sounded like no big deal. When we picked him up, there was a gash/hole on our dog's side. It looked like he might have gotten stuck on a toy or the fence and rippled himself out. I don't blame Four Season's for him getting hurt there. What I will blame them for is for lying, saying it didn't happen there, and making it sound like no big deal. We had to rush him to the vet when we picked him up and he needed four staples. He was put on antibiotics for a week and we had to put a shirt on him. Like I said, I don't blame them for my dog getting hurt but we will not bring our dog back here because I don't want to be lied to. Also make a note, there were Facebook photos uploaded showing him before the incident and after proving it 100 percent happened there.

My dogs were loved, bonded with, and cared for while getting incredible training. They allowed my dogs to sleep together at night which made me feel extra comforted while they were away. I didn't know what to expect when they started and being without your dogs for that long of a time requires a lot of trust. There was so much care put into communicating with me during their time away, including occasional video updates showing me how they were progressing. I would say my dogs were pretty well behaved before going to training, but theres a lot of prejudice in the world against pitbulls. Thanks to Joe and his team I now have the confidence and comfortability going to public parks, beaches and even being in my own yard knowing that when I call they will come. They were trained to walk on and off leash and to respond to commands necessary. They came back calmer, their coats were shinier and looking healthier than ever. Not only were the dogs given the training, but Joe then took the time and care to ensure I was ready to bring them home and keep the work going. He has taken many phone calls from me with questions and continues to work with both myself, family members and my dogs post the 7 week training. I can't say enough how grateful I am for how they have cared for my dogs. I highly recommend K9 to anyone who needs boarding or training.
