I asked the front desk staff if they could leave the lights on since there were many patrons and staff still using the facility and they vehemently denied saying they were instructed to turn off the lights every night regardless. I asked if it was an unreasonable request to leave the lights on during business hours and they said I was "elitist" for making such a request. Forget the fact that it's disrespectful to turn the lights off on customers while they use a facility, but it is unsafe or possibly downright dangerous to leave a partially dark fitness center while both staff and members are in it.

It changed the way he leads our family, being more present and wanting more for us as a family unit and wanting to have more of an impact on others - esp those of a younger generation. Earlier this year we wanted to find a family friendly MMA environment for our 9 year old - somewhere to build up his confidence, to feel encouraged, not afraid or broken down or pressured whenever he didn't quite get it right. When he told me about the Tiger cubs program we tried it out for our son. The 1st few weeks of my son attending he was all smiles...hesitant to learn something new but smiling. The kids are helpful and supportive, as they're encouraged to help teach new kids as a way of also earning stripes and advancing. Coach Toby's style of teaching is admirable - teaching them beneficial skills while also having fun; never putting the kids down or making them feel less than or shaming them, but encouraging them and partnering them with the right kids to help them. As a mom that meant a lot to me knowing I could trust this coach to have my son's best interest at heart. Shortly after, what was supposed to be just me observing turned into me joining my husband boxing, and then also joining the Warrior Women's Self Defense class on Sundays. Up until that point I was just a mediocre long distance runner, training every few years for a half or full marathon. Joining True Warrior/Warrior Women has made me feel stronger and capable (mentally and physically), more aware and wiser, and part of a community of women/men who support each other. Saturday family Boxing Day has made such a positive impact on my family - a day we look forward to working out together and training together, being close and stronger...together. That's what this school promotes - community, strength, skill, people helping people, faith and positivity, all in it together. We are grateful to Coach Toby and Coach Ryan for all they do and how they do it! Their skills are unmatched and amazing to see, but how they teach it and coach others is impressive. It's an environment that can be intimidating walking into, but walking out of those classes you feel welcomed, included, empowered, absolutely humbled at times (haha!), thankful, unified. The staff is put in a terrible spot. they aren't being communicated with from management. people are wandering around lost in the facility because of the lack or non existence of staffing. Rooms aren't available when you talk to one person but another person says they can unlock it. they are RUINING the experience of going to the gym. They are of course charging full price for a lot less than 100% availability of what we had prior. She uses the phrase ''sorry you feel this way" clearly its NOT a feeling, its cognitive thought, something they do Not understand at the Hickory Foundation YMCA. id be embarrassed to tell anyone I was management at this place. She's less concerned about the children and communicating with the parents on ways to handle any incidents that may come up. I only met her today after 3 years of being there. I suggested she make herself more available for parents by possible adding a picture and a bio to her website or maybe wearing a shirt that says "owner." (She immediately told me how she was very accommodating and has been running her business for 35 years.) I also have never met or have known who my children's coaches are despite sitting in the lobby every week for 1 year. I guess this works for some people but If your children are younger and cannot advocate for themselves, I would recommend another studio/gym. The owner of this one isn't interested in children and their emotional well being but more of the business.

My son absolutely loves parkour class. From what I can tell the coaches are emotionally connected, not unkind, and are fairly skilled teachers. I say from what I can tell because the management ensures it's nigh near impossible for whatever reason for the parents or caregivers to see what is happening when their child is inside the classroom. Unlike some studios that have an open gym with the viewing area this one not only has no windows to the gymnastics room but also teeny tiny video screens you really can't tell what's going on or which one your child is. They have "no parent" signs on every door! and if you want to see a class before deciding whetherto plop down hundreds of dollars forget it. They will not allow parents to go inside and watch because it "will distract the children", and " there isn't enough room". For the record the rooms are huge but it's a business, they have a corner on the market in the area, doubt they're going to change policy for any parents anytime soon, quite antiquated. There's a lot of exotic animals here - parrots, turtles etc. Apparently there is a kind hearted and rescuing zoologist on staff, random and unexpected... kind of neat. The animals seem to get good care. Heads up they will not send you a heads up email but you will definitely get charged a late fee every month if you do not pay on time. Also charged if you use a credit card. Also the siblings play area in the lobby costs money. This is a new one for me also. Maybe it's because there are "staff" in there "watching" your child. Ahem, don't go too far. So I feel like I would be neglectful in this review I didn't mention that my child was injured pretty badly in a class here and although according to him and his teachers he was following directions and no one was to blame, no one told me. My kids are pretty tough and play hard, but this injury required multiple visits to the chiropractor and a lot of days with heat and ice on the couch. They didn't bother letting me know until I called and sent an email the next day alerting them and wondering if anyone noticed anything. The response was not really concern for my child but instead defending the teachers and the programs safety which wasn't even the point. That was disappointing but not surprising. We decided to continue on because he loves it so much but with a little trepidation. Very disappointing experience with InMotion Wellness…read more I initially purchased a 3-month package and was given the impression that I would be contacted before the 3 months were up to see whether I wanted to continue. I never received a call, notification, or receipt letting me know that I was being enrolled into an ongoing monthly membership. I later discovered that I had been charged $199 per month, despite the fact that I have not used the services at all. I also did not receive receipts or any communication notifying me that these recurring charges were taking place. Once I realized what was happening, I contacted the Statesville location to ask about canceling the membership and getting a refund. I was told someone would get back to me, but I never received a call back or any follow-up. I understand that memberships can have terms and conditions, but there is a big difference between knowingly agreeing to a recurring membership and believing you are purchasing a 3-month package and will be contacted about continuing afterward. I'm extremely disappointed with how this has been handled, particularly the lack of communication and follow-through when I tried to resolve the issue directly. I hope InMotion will take responsibility for the situation and make this right.
