He welcomed us warmly and sat us outside in the covered patio. We did one menu and added some extra dishes to share between the two of us. Every item was so well prepared, visually stunning and incredibly tasty. The wine options were fantastic as nd dessert was delectable. Seriously considered going back, but there were so many good restaurants in Dijon to try. Wow!

It was relatively obvious that they serve English-speaking consumers because they had menus in English. My friend and I had a good time here tasting wine and catching up. Majority of the dishes were pretty good but not extremely spectacular, ranging from the beef bourguignon to the soy-glazed chicken to the eggs with mashed potatoes, they all had varying degrees of seasoning and the salt wasn't too overpowering. Some of the dishes leaned towards more on the plain side in terms of flavor. The arancini tomatoes didn't have too much fresh flavor in my opinion, and that was my least favorite dish in comparison. Overall, one would have a good time if visiting Dijon, and I would recommend this establishment. It's worth noting that they had good service, which sometimes can be a hit or miss in France in general due to them not having a tipping culture.

    * FTR #400, Review #700!!!! *…read more What are the chances of the milestone FTR and review count to coincide?!?!?!?! What to review? And why Le Tigre? 1) This isn't a fancy brasserie. 2) This is just a small neighbourhood local spot. 3) I have never had lunch here. 4) I've never had a drink here. So why the review? I ate breakfast here almost every day in Dijon. It was close to where I was staying, and I really really liked the owner. He really has such a fabulous attitude for a small local brasserie. Oh, and there is an artists' rendition of him (shaved head and all) on the menu cover! I wondered if his nickname was "The Tiger?" Hm....... The breakfast offerings were quite simple. Your choice of croissant or baguette. Both were quite good and sadly better than anything we can get in Vancouver, even though this is just a small local place that doesn't bake their own. Your choice of coffee or tea. Again nothing fancy. Pure simple honest food. The thing I like about the owner though? Even though breakfast was so simple, he was sitting behind the bar reading a cookbook! He is constantly trying to learn new techniques, and it left us wondering why we didn't visit for lunch to try his cooking - I suppose for another trip! (Perhaps after he has finished reading the book!) Another thing I like? He let's local musicians play in the brasserie many days. So you can enjoy a very casual setting, with simple pure honest food and a little bit of musical entertainment. A perfect local hole-in-the-wall - Dijon style!
