This is the one (cocktail) bar in Geneva that makes me feel like I'm back home in San Diego. With…read morethe dark decor, terrace seating and excellent cocktails just a couple blocks from the lake- l'atelier is worth a stop if you ever find yourself in eaux vives. Heck, even if you're across town, l'atelier is worth the hike! As I was doing a bit of a quick cocktail tour of the neighborhood, I limited myself to one cocktail, but the truth is that my one cocktail was so good that I don't think I would have ordered another that might have challenged the experience. The Gin Geneva Gin is out of this world- with gin, lemon, mango and basil the drink hits all the right notes. Plus, the drinks are served with less fuss than other cocktail bars in Geneva and at a slightly better price (I'm thinking of la verre Monique in Plainpalais). 5 stars!!!

I went here on a Friday night, after I read some good reviews on this place and also had some…read morerecommendations from locals . It's located on a street with lots of other cocktail bars. It was definitely a perfect place to start the evening at. They have outside seating, but it seemed like the only people placed outside was the smokers. And as I'm a non-smoker plus the weather was a little too cold, I chose to sit inside. The place was full of people but not too crowded, which made it possible to have a chat while enjoying your drink. There were plenty of seating, but it seemed like if you are more than 5 people, it would be hard to find a table that fits. My friend and I both got the same drink, which was the "Rom of passion" (picture attached, sorry had a few sips). It's a nice drink, but it was a little too sweet for my taste (I'm more of a sweet and sour girl). The service there is flawless. Well dressed busboys are quick to clear the table.

We enjoyed the Guacamole toast, Truffle Croque Monsieur & lemon tart. There was lovely live (but not over-loud) music. I will be back!

Funky Claude's is one of the numerous eating/drinking establishments within the Fairmont Montreux,…read morebut outside of the lobby lounge, it's the main bar that is focused more on providing beverages of the adult variety vs. food. The lounge itself has an external entrance from the street; if you are staying at the hotel, you have to walk through the Jazz Cafe (a little awkward) before reaching the back. There's definitely a huge change in vibe depending on when you are here...on a Friday night, Funky Claude's was hopping, with a live pianist playing all different kinds of tunes (not just jazz), and all of the tables and seats at the bar occupied. On a Sunday night, however, the bar was starkly empty - there were 1 or 2 other people in the bar with us at the same time. Despite this, it felt like the staffing was the same at both times, which meant that while we were decently looked-after on Sunday, it was difficult to get attention for a refill on drinks and to close out our check after getting our initial order in on Friday. As for the menu itself...we only ate one item of food here besides the bar snacks (which were largely nuts-based), as the food otherwise seemed to (generally) resemble what could be found in the Jazz Cafe. What we did have was the creme brulee, and that tasted excellent - the rum was burned to just the right level of crispiness on the surface, infusing a bit of sweetness while maintaining a hint of the kick from the booze. As for the drink selection - the beer selection is light, while I'm sure there is a decent wine selection. Given the scarcity of cocktail bars, though, this was what I focused on drinking here - and on balance, the cocktails were solid (if priced at a level that was even pricey for a New Yorker). The namesake drink is basically a sweeter version of a mojito with a touch of absinthe - very drinkable and fun, although the brown sugar can be a bit much sometimes. My favorite was probably the L'Enfin'delle, which was a competition cocktail (according to the menu) but drank almost like juice - until you had the alcohol hit you a little later. Some folks might think it's too sweet, but I really enjoyed the smoothness and the interplay of the flavors. I did try one of the numerous G&Ts on the menu; it was quite nice as well - the tonic was certainly lighter than what I am used to encountering, while the gin wasn't too overpowering either. It came off as a light, summery take on a standard cocktail - very seasonally appropriate. While the service could be a bit better, and the price is a bit steep (but it's Switzerland - so that's a given), I enjoyed the visits I paid here, and I would definitely stop by again for a late-night visit.

As far as Geneva Irish Pubs go - this isn't a bad one. In fact, I would go as far to say it's the…read morebest one in Geneva at the moment. Let's begin with the major positive point - The food, which is out sourced, is rather pleasant and a welcome change to most of the grub you get in Geneva. You can tell, hands down, that this is all freshly prepared and tastes like it too. The half ribs and chicken is my favourite, but then again I am a lover of ribs. The pies are tasty and the chips are certainly some of the best in Geneva. The price as well isn't something to grumble about and as you don't order their garlic mushrooms (trust me, thats the one thing you don't want to eat there) then it's a lovely experience. Another positive here is that the staff have always seem to have a big smile on their face. The music is a lot more Irish than in some watering holes and the decor is some what Irish, although less so than the lovely, yet awfully managed Mulligans in the centre of town. There is free wifi and they show lots of the GAA so big plus there. Many a night I have spent here and got drunk, and would recommend it to anyone having a little get together!

I am a vodka and cranberry juice girl and most bars don't even carry cranberry juice, which my French friend tells me is rather new to the area all together. Never the less, this place had cranberry juice and the bartender made ms a fabulous cocktail, served in a giant iced tea sized glass no less. They also carry one of my favorite beers Franziskaner. I tried the fish and chips - great, not greasy at all. My only issue with the place was I couldn't order a plate of french fries alone. I don't understand that one, but I liked it there and the band was fantastic, The Square Brackets.
