Oh, look, it doesn't really matter, does it? I mean, who's counting? Oh. You are. Well, tough titties, because I'm not telling. The ol' knees are a bit stiffer than I remember though, especially after a day of cricket (during which I starred with the ball and picked up 3 wickets *cough*). Your pitches are still on the small side. There's still that funky canal down the back that's haunted by the ghosts of thousands of rugby, soccer and cricket balls long since lost back there. That big brick damn thing down the far end hasn't changed. Nor has your sparkling waterfront. Lots more dogs than I remember though. And you seem, I don't know, sunnier somehow. More youthful and appealing than I remember. Botox? No, I just thought .... you know what, don't worry, you look great is all. I'm coming back to lie under your gum trees on the gentle slope facing the water with my dog. Let's not leave it so long again, huh?

It is the biggest open space in the area and you'll find lots of people exercising and playing with their kids and dogs. It almost deserves five stars, but the people using the park don't take especially good care of it. After a weekend of heavy use, there is rubbish everywhere. I take my kid to the playground here almost daily and spend a good portion of my time picking up broken glass -- I've come to the conclusion that if somebody breaks a bottle anywhere in Petersham, they pick up the pieces to distribute across the playground. Pick up after yourselves, people!!!

The best part is off to the side it also has everything you need to have a picnic or bbq. With onsite picnic facilities, including undercover tables, as well as an electric bbq, this is a great venue. My boys of course love the playground. So next time you see a bit of blue sky, drag the kids out and get them to run laps or something... :-)

This, the harbour looks a lot greener than it used to, particularly with this section which used to be an oil refinary. Being so close to the harbour with a view of the Sydney Harbour bridge however gives this surprisingly large park an edge. I would classify this park as a picnic haven. With the wide expanse of grass and the large old trees looking down, this park is, on a word, peaceful. What surprised me was that heading towards the water, past the toilets on the right, were stairs down to a sports field. I envy the.teams who play here as it has a truly awesome view of the boats bobbing up and down. While not a park with masses of play equipment, for those that bring your own kite, soccer ball or cricket bat, I am sure you'll find a way to pass the time. :-)

There, you'll find memorial for the 2002 Bali terrorist attack in which twenty Coogee residents perished. It's a remarkable four-metre bronze piece of art. This specific area was renamed Dolphin Point in memory of the six members of the Coogee Dolphins Football Club who died in the bombing. Additionally, a few steps away is the entry portico from the Giles Baths, a relic from the 1928 bath which was destroyed in 2000. Once you walk a bit further through Dunningham, you're on towering cliffs that offer unadulterated views of the Pacific. I truly think this is one of the most beautiful places in Sydney. Lots of shops to get a bite to eat, drink or just have ice-cream- can have a full blown meal or just fish & chips whatever suits. A big long pathway for exercise buffs to jog along up hills or just flat along the beach. Lots of places to picnic at, just be patient with parking or come early to get a spot. This being the largest park and smack in the middle of the city, it is quite impressive. Large mature trees, walkways, seating areas, multiple fountains, memorials, an art gallery and even a museum. My favorite part was the huge chess game and the watching the folks playing getting into heated discussions as bystanders were taking sides of the two players and loudly voiced their continued advice. What a fabulous addition to the city. The only problem are the birds as seems to be the case all over Sydney. Mostly the Ibis, which seem to be also called bin chickens. They are everywhere, quite aggressive and therefor not so well liked.

If you could call it that. It's more outdoor design come burning man art sculpture focused than child fun park but then the kids playing around the popping water and sticks piece were having a lot of fun on the really hot day I was there. I recently attended a Saturday afternoon birthday BBQ here and found it to be quite a lovely place indeed. The park has your classic amenities- large grassy field, fountain, restroom block, jungle gym- but also has a bit of style as well. My favorite example of this is the tall flower garden sculpture that has water geysers coming out of the ground at random. Nice touch, Redfern. Positioned on the corner of Chalmers St. and Redfern St., there are a lot of awesome little spots cropping up nearby. We stopped at the bottle shop in the Woolpack, which is right there, to pick up some libations for the afternoon. Walking back I took note of the cafes nearby. Next time, I might try lunch at the American diner-style join Eathouse, and then stretch out the full belly in the park for a while. More Redfern Park perks? You're a stone's throw from Surry Hills, and thus all the uber crowded hangouts over there, but you probably won't see your boss and your ex best friend, and your landlord's gay lover and everyone else you kinda know here. It's hip but not "too" hip, and because of that... I'm sold.
