Warning: Bedbugs! (If I could leave ZERO stars I would)…read more Short version ... this place is a nightmare. Don't stay here. The owners are awful, rude, money-hungry people with no website, no real phone for their business (they use a cell phone with no voice mail set up so you can never leave them a message), the motel is old, run-down, cold, the bathrooms are dirty, and most importantly they have bedbugs there. These folks don't deserve to run a business and it seems they are definitely taking advantage of people's wallets during these new C O V I D times, but they aren't following cleaning policy at all. Here is the long story for those who would like to read: This hotel is awful and the people who run it are equally awful. My dad has cancer and I have been coming to Gooding, Idaho for a few months now and usually stayed at a different hotel, but to save money on this trip, I made a reservation at the Cottage Inn. The man who owns it took my reservation over the phone, he asked for a credit card to hold the room, I never got an email confirmation or any paperwork of any kind. I was a late check-in (12:35 AM), so he'd left the room door unlocked and I went in. I noticed that the room is a hodgepodge of furniture with no real plan or sense. Whatever. I was tired and went to bed. In the middle of the night, it got very cold and I turned on the small wall heater full blast. When I woke up at 7 AM my room was full of flies. In the light of day, there was a one-inch gap between the door and the door jam and probably 15 flies were buzzing around my semi-warm room. The curtains were held up with thumbtacks. There was no coffee machine, no hairdryer, and oddly, no television in the room. The bathroom was appallingly small and icky with a dirty drain in the shower. I got ready, packed my stuff, and went over to my dad's house. I went back to the Cottage Inn and went to the office at 10 AM to check out. The man told me their cancellation policy is 72 hours so he would not give me a refund for the next three nights I had booked there. I asked him where that cancellation policy is, where my paperwork was, where his website is, but he had no answer for that. I'll answer it for him ... nowhere. There is no website, no paperwork, nothing for this motel. I got the phone number for the Cottage Inn off the Gooding, Idaho Visitors Center website. The man who owned the motel just kept saying he could put a space heater and a coffee pot in the room. I told him that I didn't feel comfortable staying there and if he didn't give me a refund I would dispute the charge with my credit card company. I did that. Two days later I had these funny, itchy bumps on my face and it only got worse from there. The bumps spread to my arms, chest and upper back, and neck. No one else in my family got these bumps, so even though we all stayed at the other hotel in town, I was the only one who got bumps and a rash. I was the only one who spent one night at the Cottage Inn. I flew home a few days later. The rash was getting worse, so I went to the doctor only to find out I had bedbug bites and was having an allergic reaction to them. I immediately called the Cottage Inn and asked for a full refund and the lady on the phone kept interrupting me asking why I didn't tell whoever checked me in that I didn't like the room. I answered that I was a late check-in. Did I go to the office? No, it was closed. Did I ring the bell? No, it looked closed. I kept asking for a refund and she went into this long description of how people steal hair dryers and coffee machines from their motel so I should have asked for them. I told her I just wanted out of there that I didn't want to stay there, she kept interrupting me and then wanted to talk without being interrupted. I let her talk and as soon as I started to answer she interrupted me and when I asked her to let me speak she actually hung up on me! I called back and asked for my refund and she again asked if she could talk without being interrupted. Of course, but as soon as I started to answer her questions she interrupted me AGAIN and when I pointed that out, she HUNG UP ON ME AGAIN. This woman is completely unprofessional and should not own a business. Disgusting, sad and disturbing. I hope the good folks of Gooding, Idaho stand up against these people and shut this bedbug-infested "motel" down. It's an eyesore on their cute little farm town and the people who own this place are awful and should NOT own a business.
