Wandered into this little place near the Notre Dame while hunting for a good value lunch. Eu13 for a set 3 course lunch in Paris is tough to beat so we gave it a shot and were very happy when we left. The French do take food to another level, and even in this simple lunch it's evident what all the fuss over French food is about. Starter was simply 'Brie'. Out came a large wedge deep fried on an endive salad, very tasty. Followed by a fish main and a divine chocolate mousse. A cheese plate could also be had for dessert, something a lot of restaurants often charge a little extra for. Couldn't believe the amount of food we got for the price. Definitely recommended if you come across it. Lunch menus are great value and a fun way to try new things. read more

Found this place while searching for a light dinner. It has a menu of entrées and plays, but it also has omelette and dinner crepes. Our omelettes were great, and a needed change from the multi-course extravaganzas of our two previous evenings. The proprietor is friendly, and he speaks English well. The location is very cool--just across the Seine from Notre Dame, on the Left Bank. We'll be back before we leave Paris. Recommended for a lighter dinner in an informal atmosphere. read more

Beautiful little cafe with delicious food. Our plan was to go to Notre Dame but get a bite to eat first. Close proximity to our destination. Weirdly, lots of Asians taking wedding pictures sitting alongside us enjoying our burgers Maison and lots of wine! Friendly and moderately English speaking staff. The ladies next to us enjoyed their crepes and desserts. Burgers were deliciously drippy, ask for more napkins. Lovely partial view of Norte Dame. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. This restaurant should probably close, and it's a shame that it has prime location because I feel like a lot of tourists go there thinking it will be good. My colleague ordered the pasta, and the cheese that was on top was not only not at all melted, but probably wasn't even real cheese. I had the chicken with potatoes and salad, and the chicken had very little meat. I will admit I liked the potatoes but you can't really screw up potatoes. The salad was basically two pieces of lettuce... I wasn't impressed. The lasagna also looked repulsive. The staff also could not have cared less, which was honestly a pure disappointment. It was literally a shoulder shrug when my boss received his pasta and immediately stated, "this looks disgusting". Sad sad! And for having "crêperie" on their awning, they only have like 2 choices for crêpes, btw... read more

Very nice café just outside of Notre Dame. My fiancé had steak (just ok in his liking) & I had such flavorful tender veal stew (my fiancé was jealous about that). We weren't thinking of dessert but the couple next to us ordered a very intriguing dessert: banana with ice cream & flamed calvados. OMG!!! I'm glad we tried it. It was an amazing dessert! A leisurely cruise along the Sein River Hop-on Hop-ff cruise that brought us to the Notre Dame stop and time for lunch with 2 children, age 4 & 2, with the two year old asleep in the mountain buggy ... what options do you have in Paris where the first site of a stroller sends the restaurant staff for the door and shutters claiming either closed or full. Les Gourmands de Notre Dame was beyond accommodating as they moved tables and set-up our carriage into the corner and served up a beautiful lunch of children's size ham & cheese sandwiches, veal tartar, escargot and a tuna nicoise salad that was amongst the freshest my wife has ever taken on. A lovely restaurant with a view of Notre Dame from the terrasse. Good variety and some unusual crêpes. Quite enjoyable and tasty!

We had a great lunch after visiting Notre Dame and eandering the area. We would characterize prices here as very reasonable, given the proximity to Notre Dame. €90 total for 4 adults, including a bottle of wine, sodas and sparkling water. Allnour dishes were wonder ful, bit the moules marinières (mussels sailor style) were exceptional, and impossible to stop eating. Plenty of bread was provided to sop up the sauce. The staff were friendly, and the owner served us himself. We highly recommend you eat here. read more

I normally never write reviews, but during our visit I felt somehow forced to write this one, just out of being slightly irritated. My wife and 4 kids (age between 9-15) were welcomed quite friendly and placed in the back (which was ok because sitting next to the door would be uncomfortable when the door opens and let the could wind in) The menu was presented and we choose to go for the menu options which were listed on the given menu card. When we ordered, were told menu's were not available during the weekend.. Okay, it was Saturday but why do they present us a menu card with menu's listed on; maybe the waiter could have told us also beforehand or even better: have it mentioned on the menu itself or present a 'weekend' menu card. Ok, back to chosing something else... kids wanted same pancakes (crêpes sucrés)... also listed on the menu. Guess what, waiter told us that there were not available yet, only for late afternoon. Same frustation again, kids being malcontent not getting what they want, and me wandering why we could not be informed before. In the end, kids and wife went for lasagna, penne and me for a pepper steak. The pasta was quite oke... except me getting a steak with a spoonful of yellow cold jelly. Seems the peppersteak was only a steak with bearnaise because they was no pepper sauce. Anyway, maybe it was the waiter's attitude or me having a bad day, but we certainly lost time in getting our meals, and getting the right instructions what to order (or not to order) The toilet (one level down the stairs) was one of the most decent ones during our Paris citytrip I've seen... but the (open) door next to it was the kitchen; I hope the smells don't mingle and is this really according to cuisine standards ? We have been to Paris a number of times and for me, one of my worst meals. We are from the US but try to speak French so not expecting favors, but as soon as we opened our mouths and the staff immediately started acting very dismissive. Maybe we just hit the wrong night, but everything seemed like they were trying to take us. My son wanted the price fixed menu and they said they didn't have it. I asked for a glass of wine and they said they didn't have it but they had a more expensive one. My wife asked for a second bottle of water and you would have thought she asked for the waiters children. The food was not very good either. My son had pasta which he said was ok, I had the veal stew which was all fat(one piece of meat on the whole plate), and my wife had the Coq Au Vin and as someone else posted earlier, there was hardly any meat on it. I will say the bread was good. We didn't stay for dessert after that. I would never go here again. read more
