We have traveled extensively in the United States and on 6/7 continents. We have stayed at La Terrasse several times throughout the years with family and friends and as a couple. Each stay is magical because Françoise ensures her guests are well looked after. Now the restaurant is Michelin Bib Gourmand and is simply magnificent. Our duplex suite had plenty of space in the sitting area, while the upstairs bedroom, with its exposed beams and stone walls, really underscored the hotels historic charm. The pool was such a godsend during the hot summer days. A modern oasis where we were able to relax and refresh in the clean blue water. The restaurant is absolutely fantastic. Each course builds upon each other--with a mix of traditional French flavors and modern techniques. The scallops were innovative and delicious. The trout was fantastic as well, and the cheese course highlighted the cheeses of the region. It was a warm summer evening, and what made it even more special was enjoying this exquisite meal while gazing at the Dordogne river from the terrace, all the while drinking a Rosé from Provence. It overlooks the towns memorial gardens marking the World Wars. The hotel boasts 5 stars, and if the hotel is as accomplished as the bar/restaurant, I'm sure they deserve each star! The comfortable bar is a 19th century charmer. Comfortable inside and out. We sat on the terrace and enjoyed well crafted cocktails and a wonderful charcuterie/cheese board our first evening. Inclement weather led us to sit inside the next night. Service was top rate. The food was delicious. Our cocktails well made and tasty.
