An amazing restaurant at the boundary of the Belleville Arabic district. This is more or less a 'hole in the wall' serving one the best tagine and couscous at an amazing low price. It has only a few tables, and you have to snake through the friendly crowd to find a seat, but the food is amazing. Basically, you chose you base (tagine or couscous) then order the trimming e.g. chicken, merguez, brochettes, etc. A very popular appetizer seems to be a plate of lentils eaten with bread soaked in the soup. My tagine was very good, with plenty of olives and a chicken roast leg for a very low 7 Euros; my wife got the very abundant merguez couscous for a low 8 euro! Bread is plentiful, and the spicy Harissa sauce just right i.e. hot and not over-salted. The staff is very nice and helpful, and the crowd there is very welcoming, giving you advice on what to eat ... if asked! Only disappointment: no mint tea. Again, if you are not afraid to squeeze in that very small place, you can have a truly unique experience for a rock bottom price! read more
