It's also close to restaurants and shopping. Le Provençal is a clean, budget hotel, with very friendly owners. You can add a continental breakfast to your room rate, and enjoy croissants, bread, jam, and coffee with the owners, fellow guests, and the owners' dog Pipo. I liked the dog, and having him visit with us at breakfast. Tip: the entry door is locked when the front desk isn't staffed (which is often). Don't forget your door code! We did. The restaurant where we had dinner called the hotel (the owners live on-site), and obtained the code for us. The beds have real sheets (not the quilt things that are so prevalent in hotels nowadays). Rooms are small, very basic, but reasonably priced. My wife and I enjoyed our stay, and will return the next time we travel to Tarascon. Tip: the tourist information office is on your way to the Tarascon castle. They speak English, and can fill you in on the dozens of area attractions, many of them within walking distance. If you need to do laundry, the owners can give you directions to a small laundromat which is about a mile away (ten-fifteen minute walk). Also, Tarascon is a short train / bus ride from Avignon, Arles.

Le pavillon de la tour lui accueille la chambre dite des amoureux, les 10 autres chambres se situent soit dans la maison rouge, soit dans le patio de la piscine. Idéal pour les loisirs, l'hôtel dispose d'un parc où il est agréable de se promener ainsi que de 2 courts de tennis. Enfin, de nombreuses randonnées sont possibles au départ du Mas.

I was unhappy with how cramped my bathroom was to the point that several of our travel companions came to my room to see how tiny the bathroom was. My bathroom was a bit of a maze. You had to open the door, push your body into a small space and then close the door in order to access the toilet and shower area. Each room had its own bedroom and bathroom configuration, so other people were luckier than I was. I was pleased about free Wi-Fi. When traveling in Europe, I rely on the free Wi-Fi to check email and access the internet. Free Wi-Fi is greatly appreciated! We also enjoyed the foosball table and game room as well as the patio in the back. We had a wonderful evening where 20+ elderly German's drank and sang their drinking songs. It was quite entertaining. We had dinner at the hotel and it was fine but not great. The couscous and Turkey stew was just ok. We also had breakfast the next morning and it was ok -cereal and croissants. Disappointments: The safe in our room wasn't working. The pool was broken and could not be used. If you are stuck in an isolated area like this hotel, then all the amenities need to be functional.
