How can one adequately describe a place like no other and still do it justice? Haus Fashion Lab…read morefeels more like a museum than a store.... a museum where you can actually afford to take home beautiful piece of art or fashion history! The owner, Emilio Uribe, is a fabulous modern-day renaissance man, collecting (and creating) tons of interesting clothing, shoes, jewelry, handbags, other accessories and artwork from both vintage and up-and-coming designers/artists. One never knows what to expect when coming back to Haus Fashion Lab.. The owner makes absolutely sure that the store, just as the customer's experience, is continuously evolving. Every time I go back the store seems to have re-invented itself with a new layout or new line of clothing/accessories or newly-acquired vintage items. HFL is fully committed to detail and to providing customers with a vast array of interesting, beautiful objects and personalized service. On one occasion, I witnessed the owner styling (and doing make-up for) a celebrity for a red-carpet event while agreeing to make custom pants for another customer's 12 year old daughter (to match her mother's) while coordinating a fashion shoot going on across the street at Wynwood Walls.... and he still had the time to make each and every customer feel welcomed as he/she walked through the door! I cannot say enough great things about HFL. There is something for everyone... whether you are male/female, young/mature... and whether you can afford to spend $30 or $3000. It is the absolutely perfect place to buy a unique gift for that person that has everything (while picking up a few fierce pieces for yourself!).

They're not bad either, but they didn't even look or feel high-quality so I can't really justify the prices some of these items were going for. Additionally, the offerings here are looking more "vintage" than "retro." And yes, there's a difference - think about it. And yes, the men's selection is better - but I can't see myself rushing back here either. The decor could use some improvement as well. This looks more like a long rack on the wall.

However, I think this shop epitomizes what isn't working. Yes, the clothes are high end and expensive but I saw few if any pieces that made my heart jump, skip, or hop. There was no Marni mouth dropping moment. There is no love at first sight shoe from Louboutin. There isn't even that odd mix of inspiration and infatuation from Tomas Maier. I found the men's collection to be a bit better with an Etro shirt in a colorful of the moment plaid but overall the store lacked strong pieces or even amazingly feminine staples. Even more telling is the odd, mismatched feel of the store. The aesthetic is worn and dated. Feng Shui anyone? anyone? Speaking of odd the door was locked when I pulled on the handle, in the middle of the day. Suddenly, I felt oh so safe ;-) Again, I want to see more stores, a well curated cocktail of boutiques ranging from hip vintage boutiques brimming with treasures to high end international names, and local up and comers.

Arguably THE lifestyle boutique in Miami BASE, is a perfectly curated masterpiece. The minute you step in you know a lot of thought and love went into this shop. The clean, unique fragrance is Sand, an exclusive designed by BASE's owner Stephen Giles. This store is clearly Gile's vision of a life well lived. From designer clothes to a CD bar BASE has something you're bound to fall in love with. And you'll note that BASE supports the arts from having their own label and a band The Life Project, to holding exhibits during Art Basel. The idea of bringing art into everyday life is obvious especially in the selection of graphic tees and kitschy, colorful toys. They also have a great selection of books some focusing on local art and architecture. If you're on the beach head over to this spot, if nothing else for inspiration on anything from music to decorating. BASE is one of the jewels in South Beach's crown.

Whether you're disgusted by that or attracted to it, Base is a lifestyle store. It's got everything geared to a certain individual. This is a store where the people behind the counter are "cool", the stuff they have here is "cool" and the everyone's "in the know." Notice the overuse of my quotation marks. I like going here for the urban toy figures that I like to adorn my cubicle with--my bf likes going here for the overseas imports of electronic cds...this Lincoln Rd boutique also has a small corner room dedicated to haircuts.

Urgent Concern - Customer Treatment at Storefront (March 24, 2026)(12:30pm-12:53pm)…read moreI want to start by saying I genuinely love this brand and have always had positive experiences. However, my visit to this specific storefront on March 24, 2026 around 12:30 PM was extremely disappointing and concerning. I came into the store with items I had already selected online and politely asked for assistance locating them. The first associate (with black bangs near the fitting rooms) was initially dismissive, stating she didn't know what I was referring to. After I showed her the item, she directed me to the correct area, and I was able to find my size. I then approached another associate at the front (with green in her hair) to ask about a lace two-piece set. She informed me it was only available online, which I understood. I asked if there were similar options since the dress I selected was sheer, and she recommended an alternative, which I appreciated. At checkout, after ringing up my items, I was told the store is cashless. I said I would step out to grab my card and be right back. I returned within moments (this can be verified on camera), but when I walked back in, the associate was already putting my items back. I said, "Excuse me, I just said I'd be right back," but she did not initially acknowledge me. When she did respond, she stated she didn't know if I meant later or another day. This could have been easily clarified with a simple question at the time. Instead of resolving the situation professionally, she told me she could not retrieve my items until she finished assisting another customer and putting items away. I said okay and stepped aside. However, she then raised her voice across the store, telling me to go retrieve the items myself -- in front of other customers. This interaction felt unnecessarily hostile and unprofessional. I remained calm, but the tone, lack of communication, and escalation were uncomfortable and inappropriate for a retail environment. What was most concerning was the overall demeanor and the way I was addressed, which made me feel disrespected as a customer. As someone visiting from out of town, this was not the experience I expected from a brand I genuinely enjoy. I strongly recommend additional training in customer service, communication, and professionalism for this location. Clear communication about store policies (such as cashless payments and item holding) would also prevent situations like this. (Which helps with the image of rage baiting) Again, I want to emphasize that I support the brand but this experience does not reflect the standard I believe you intend to uphold.
