On a busy Saturday night we were just looking for a non-touristy bar that was neither packed to the rafters nor totally dead. It was cold and we'd been doing a lot of exploring on foot, I wanted somewhere warm to drink a beer and it was really important to me that I could get a seat. After rejecting a few bars for being too full we settled on Les Brasseurs, a large bar which happened to be about one third full. Perfect.
This is definitely more of a local bar. It's not on the busy touristy Grand Place and it's not got a touristy gimmicky theme to it. It's just a bar. They've got a good long beer list (although it's a full bar so you don't need to restrict yourself to beer) and they serve some food too, although we weren't dining there that evening.
After each round of beers we considered moving on, but we were so comfy inside and it was so cold outside that in the end we wound up staying much longer than we planned to. Service was friendly and helpful, suggesting alternatives to the beers we ordered when one of them was no longer available. While there's nothing particularly amazing or outstanding going on, it's a welcoming bar and I'd have been happy staying here all night. read more
