We were not disappointed. Most striking was how helpful the young gentleman was who worked the cheese counter who was able to made sure we left with what we wanted despite our limited ability to articulate our preferences in French.

But the homey atmosphere, dimmed ambiance, just-ok hot chocolate are all secondary to what I'm really here to talk about: THE CHOCOLATE-BROWNIE-CAKE-PIE DESSERT. Obviously, that's not it's real name, but having just pointed at our desserts, we didn't actually catch a name. But you can't miss it. It's chocolatey, cakey, and fudgy at the same time, but in absolutely perfect proportions. I was almost taken aback by how easily my fork slid through the cake, and may have actually let out a giggle upon first bite. We also had the lemon custard pie, which was a bit too runny and watery. The thin top layer of dried custard popped upon impact, sending out a slow-running flow of citrusy custard lava all over the plate. Taste-wise it was pretty good, but texture-wise I was tempted to take it home and freeze it for a few minutes. It stays open late, which is a godsend here. But it's not in the best part of town, so make sure you're with a group!

They had a big selection of chocolate at a variety of price points. This was in the middle of the shopping area and near the train so it was crowded. Lines moved fast and staff were helpful. The prices were reasonable. I was able to pick up something to eat and some souvenirs.

I love Manor. I love it like I love pastries and cake which Manor has and then some. Why does this…read morespot get my coveted 5 stars? I can't think of any other department store like this in Geneva or the US that can bring so much happiness to me (perhaps some Asian dept stores can...). P A R K I N G Parking at Manor is crazy. There's multiple levels underground and it's super tight. Be good and have a small car or walk like we do. I N S I D E There are multiple floors of varying goods. First floor is food and groceries. You can get fruits, veggies, pastries, cooked food, wines, cookies, chocolates, charcuterie, cheeses, you think of food, they have it. They have these mini walnut sausages that I've never seen anywhere else. They're expensive, but we treat ourselves to it whenever we're here. Second floor is a mish mash of things but mainly beauty, so lotions, hair dryers, perfumes. Next couple floors are clothing for men and women of course separated one for men one for women. Then there's toys and stationary and luggage. I'm always looking for the next NICI plush and always drawn to their cuteness Then electronics where you also have Manora their cafeteria style food court though we seem to always be underwhelmed with the pastries we get there. O V E R A L L It's an all in one department store with grocery and cafeteria. What more could you ask for? I wish we had a Manor in the US cause I'd be there all the time.
