"The 2 On The Corner"*** is the perfect little Parisian cafe. Gorgeous ambiance thanks to sharing its space with a small potted flower store full of lush plants in perfect health. Well-balanced, flavorful meals exactly like you dream of from the French, and at a humble price, too (in April 2016, a 13.50 Euro prix fixe lunch includes soup, salad, an entree, a pastry, and bread in quantities that will stuff you silly if you finish them all). The daily menu is small but changes...it's the kind of place you could easily become a regular to see what's cooking. We wish we could, but were only passing through! Additional seating with a cavelike feel on the basement, too.
As of 4/30/2016, Yelp's hours are wrong. The place might stop serving hot meals at certain hours as many Parisian places do, but their web site lists their hours as "Open Tue-Sat 7:30AM - office-closing-time, Sun 10:30AM - end of brunch."
Small staff, and some waiters speak more English than others, but everyone is nice! The daily menu is small, so if you have no allergies, just ask the waiter to pick for you if you run into language barriers. If you have allergies and run into a language issue, it might be helpful to be armed with Google Translate and a data connection because the food is pretty typically French (use of meat, dairy, bread, etc. wherever they think it will make things taste better).
***Trivia: the name is apparently also a pun on the French for "You two, into the corner!" for kids' timeout. The "two" are the two owners, gardener and restauranteur. Or there's the only name by which my non-French-speaking partner can remember it, "The 2 Coins" ("les 2 pièces de monnaie"). :-) read more
