I cannot recommend Leo's Landscaping enough! We bought a new home here in Florence and he responded and was able to create the front yard we wanted very quickly! Leo and his landscaping company made lots of promises and failed to perform as agreed. We feel ripped off since we paid for weekly services and they only came two out of four times. On one of those visits they were on our property for only 12 minutes. (March). We had to follow up on every aspect of our business relationship including getting estimates for a sprinkler installation. On many other occasions we would leave messages, voicemails and texts and get absolutely no response. His lead worker, Brandon, failed to get back to us when we complained. We stopped him on our street when he bypassed our home after we had already paid. The cost for monthly service was extremely expensive compared to the actual work and value we did receive. Don't do business with Leo! He still hasn't even given us the courtesy of returning our calls, texts, and email. Now we realize that there are lots of other bad reviews out there! We used Leo's to put in Sod in our back yard. They did a very good job. When I was worried the first few weeks I called them. Leo came by and checked it and said it was fine. it has turned out he was right, They put it the lawn in the end of May and it still looks great and it's September. I do not recommend Leo's. We've been with Leo for a long time. Recently I had to take over due to my husband's sever alzheimers, I had him do shrub and tree trimming, weeding and mowing, I paid the bill in full, but then I got a bill with a unexplained $165.00, I called and left messages several times, sent emails, never got a call back from him. Nothing, except they didn't show up for our monthly yard service. Left me with crappie trimmed trees and a yard of weeds, makes for bad advertising since everyone here knows Leo's has been doing our yard for years. I do not recommend Leo's Landscaping because the man insisted on billing me for maintenance work far more than what is considered by honest landscape contractors reasonable and customary -- $50 per worker per hour. I asked him at the beginning what he charged per hour. He said he charged by the job, not by the hour. (How can you arrive at a figure without considering length of time to be expended doing the job?) He said, "$800." I was desperate to have my property worked on, especially the removal of ivy taking over considerable space. Because I did not know how much labor it would take to remove the ivy, I okayed the price, considering it an estimate to be adjusted after the amount of work done was known. Turned out his two workers put in altogether 5 hours. ( 5 hours times $50 = $250. Add another $50 for dump fees.) When I attempted to contact him about what I thought I should pay (no more than $400), he was nowhere to be found. I received a bill for $800 with threatening printed language stating that $35 would be charged per month if the bill was not paid. My email and phone call messages stating my case were not answered. I warned him about the importance of customer satisfaction and good word-of-mouth commentary. Bottom line -- He will gouge you. He cannot be trusted. read more

Leo came to look at our yard late last summer. It was very uneven, with lots of stumps having been removed and brush cleared. The yard needed to be graded and several inches of good soil brought in to be able to seed a lawn over sandy soil, which Leo agreed to. We also had a 9' wide strip along the edge that needed to be brought up with fill dirt, which Leo agreed to do. He emailed us a bid, which was more money than the other bid I got, but I thought it would be worth it to pay up for Leo's services, since he'd agreed to bring in more dirt than the other bidder and an acquaintance had recommended him. That was my first mistake. He didn't specify amounts of dirt to be brought in on the contract, but I trusted that he would do a good job. Words like "enough" dirt and "if needed" were used. It seems that this is where Leo is able to cut corners. We had discussed 2-3 inches of topsoil and fill dirt for the edge. It ended up that Leo barely brought enough dirt in to cover the sand. There are many places that the sand shows through and the grass is not growing that are not even 1/2" deep with new soil. Because of the way it was graded, it is actually overall LOWER than it was to start with, as all he did was spread the higher areas into the lower ones. (There had been a couple of slightly raised beds.) He completely ignored the edge that had some really low spots. The weather was bad, so it took a while for us to evaluate this, but after a week, we called Leo to come take a look, and to his credit, he did, and agreed to bring in a couple more yards of dirt for the edge. There was nothing that could be done about the seeded area, as the seed was already in, and couldn't have more dirt put on it at that point. So, after another week, his guys showed up, but what they had for "fill dirt" was a load of sand. At this point, we had to accept it. There would be not opportunity to do better, as it was projected to storm for quite a while. I would not recommend Leo's Landscaping, ever, to anyone. He makes verbal agreements about what is to be done, then cuts corners on supplies and the labor it takes to use them. And reading the contract, I can see that it's wording set him up to be able to do that. I should have gotten a contract with amounts and type of dirt specified, as well as a time line for completion. We are now looking at having to bring in a lot more dirt and spread it ourselves. Come spring, we're going to have to put dirt over the seeding job he did and reseed our lawn ourselves. In addition, we had requested he use some special seed that we wanted to order, but Leo insisted on ordering it himself. He didn't keep track of it and it took a MONTH to get here, putting out seeding job into mid-October. Definitely not optimal. Leo does have some nice trucks, though! read more

I got bid for trimming a large hedge , for $300. halfway thru Leo tells me its going to be another $75 for "extra garbage dump runs". This is not a way to do business. I was quoted a price and then he raised it, when half done. Nowhere in any of his advertising does he have any payment methods. I now have an outstanding bill, because he won't take plastic, I have offered to pay my bill using a credit card, or paypal, but he wants cash or check.....wtf???? a business that does not take cards??? and never mentioned in any of there ads. The workers were diligent and professional, and did a great job. but cash or check only will never get my return business. read more

I do not recommend this business for the following reasons: 1 After spending an exorbitant amount of money, I'm left with two patio areas where they lifted my flagstone to "level" out and add weed barrier and left the stones so uneven, one area is actually worse than it was prior to their work. I have asked repeatedly for it to be fixed, and my requests have gone unanswered. It is a huge tripping hazard. 2. My new lawn has several areas STILL not hit by the new irrigation system, although one very nice employee did come out and make an adjustment. Some patches are now dead. Leo did not install enough sprinkler heads to cover everything. 3. I was promised so many things that were not done or later I was charged extra. His bid was messy and confusing and now I know HIS word means nothing. I was promised new plants which I never got, areas cleaned of weeds (not done), and charged extra for barrier cloth. 4. When I got the final statement, the math "somehow" added up way more than the correct sum. 5. I was told at least one lie about how an ee had to be taken to the hospital for a bee sting - I spoke to said person and he said he was stung but didn't go to the hospital. Granted, giving him the benefit of doubt, perhaps there was ANOTHER employee stung that went to the hospital 6. Project was supposed to be done June 9th and wasn't completed until June 29th. I was told an interesting array of excuses. When I was out of town he barely showed up, unless I sent frequent messages urging him to do so. 7. He often was not around to supervise his employees so they would be wondering where to put bark or where to put stone, and in one case added rock where I didn't want it. However, I will say they did correct and re-do the areas once I gave clear instructions. I am pleased that I now have an irrigation system, and I wouldn't say all their work was bad. I found many of his employees to be very hard working. I think Leo has got too busy too quick and is not managing his business well. If you decide to use this company than make sure EVERYTHING is line itemed on the bid.. Check the numbers. And expect delays. I am from Oregon NOT Kansas! I am not sure how to fix that - But will work on it! read more

We hired Leo to clean up our yard, trim shrubbery and trees, apply fertilizer, treat gravel walkways with herbicide, etc., at our home in Florence, OR. He quoted us a price of $350 for the work which seemed fair. His crew arrived at the appointed time and completed most of the work - sort of. He told us that he had forgotten the herbicides and fertilizer but would return "on Tues" to apply it. We had to leave before the crew finished so we paid him for the job anticipating that he would keep his word and return as promised. When we got home and had time to examine his work we were shocked and disappointed at the lack of care and thoroughness evident in the shoddy work they had done and intended to tell him about it when he returned on Tues. Problem is he never returned. Phone calls went unanswered and voicemail messages were never returned. We are looking for another landscaper and would strongly advise everyone else to do the same. read more
