Since it was a Friday, there was nothing I could do until Monday, so I left the vehicle parked until then. Highland Automotive were locally recommended and able to fit me in 1st thing Monday morning. Fortunately, it was an easy fix and they ended up flushing out the old fluid a couple of times, running it through the system slowly, and I was back on the road the next day! I changed my Big Bend hiking plans and headed to the Davis Mountains State Park, in case I had more issues and to be closer to Alpine. The car towed my trailer up the mountain with no problem and I spent a few lovely days hiking the park before heading back to Austin. Andon recommended that I get the fluid flushed again once home, which I did and all is well! I was only charged for transmission fluid and an hour of labor, so a lot less than I was expecting. They are an honest and capable, family run business!

Like any place in Bufu, Tx you are going to pay a premium because more often than not you don't have a choice. That's life in America. They do good work and are polite but they are so swamped with business that it is unlikely an out-of-townee will get served on short notice. Pumps have issues once in a while with credit cards. There are ATMs at the bank. If you can wait, have a meal at the Stone Mountain Village, the roach coach across the street or on the nice, shaded lawn at the courthouse. If you have the time you will get your vehicle repaired properly but it will cost 35% or more than the big towns. That includes gas prices and self-air inflation is a $1. Parts are double marked up and I advise you to install them yourself if you can or else you are looking at $25 or more for Installation. Even a headlight bulb. At least you are supporting the local business in a town with dying businesses and the only population growth is retirees on the outskirts.
