Heaven. Potato salad - perfect; a little on the sweeter side. No mayo here, as it should be. Also, we were craving veg, so ordered the rucola salad. This being Austria, it was covered in ham and a sharp cheese. I'm not complaining The room had a simple, cozy cellar bar feel. It was a tad warm inside. Friendly service. Although I tried my best with German they also spoke excellent English. Drinks wise - hubby enjoyed the lager beer and I loved the Weiss gespritzt. At €3,90 a glass, I was happy! The nice server promptly took the orders: As we were a group of six, we ordered several dishes so we could try a little bit of everything and of course, the famous Wiener Schnitzel with mixed salad by which every restaurant in Austria is measured. Generally speaking, if that dish fails , usually it is a bad sign. But here everything was fresh, flavorful and served generously. The " Wiener "  like they called it here was crispy on the outside with a wonderful breading and the veal was tender and tasty. I discovered the scrambled eggs with wild mushrooms and I could see myself eating it for breakfast too. The dumplings were huge but the flavor wasn't lost . The fish was well cooked . The deserts were as good as the main dishes and I can't recommend enough the palatshinken(crêpes) and the topfentorte( Austrian cheese cake). In summary, maybe one of the best gasthaus in Vienna (typical Viennese restaurant) serving authentic Austrian cuisine at a great price!
