It was just around the corner from where I usually stay in Mergellina in Naples, but somehow I had not yet discovered it. What can I say? Even though it is cozy in size you notice just walking in an attention to detail that promises the same attention in the food and service the comes in later. Large bay windows, wooden tables and fixtures, a surrounding blackboard on both walls advertising the quality and surprising variety of hot sandwiches and appetizers on offer. Even the bathrooms, proportional in size to rest, are detailed and clean. I particularly like the potpourri tucked into bedroom slippers. Then of course there is the beer. An excellent selection of craft beers led by Piedmont's Balladin. And a smaller but very interesting selection of three tap beers. The food tries to find the right mix of ingredients found between local specialties, km0, Italian specialties and a fee international products that are rare in Italy but part of the hot sandwich tradition in a Europe and America (this is the first place use pastrami I've found in Italy's south). It was apparent that the waitresses were disappointed to have to tear themselves away from their cell phones to serve us. We ordered a burger and fries. The staff was very friendly and they did try to speak English when it was obvious we barely spoke any Italian (although ordering is not hard at all). Their menu was easy to understand so we didn't need to google anything to understand it. Anyway, we tried the Django burger and fries. We waited for our number to be called and made sure we knew what it sounded like so we didn't miss our turn (google translate ftw!). We took the food home because we wanted to sit down and enjoy the food. Note that they don't have chairs or tables but everyone seemed happy eating standing up. We just ordered quite a bit and couldn't eat and hold the little bucket of fries at the same time. I was impatient and started snacking on the fries on our way home and O.M.G. best fries I have ever had! They were obviously freshly fried, perfect seasoning, and might actually be freshly cut! When we got home, we dove right into the burgers and it was juicy and very tasty! They were huge and I had some left overs enough for breakfast. After dark, this is an... interesting... neighborhood and maybe it's just me, but I would suggest women not walk alone. We were warmly greeted at the restaurant and directed downstairs where we were seated immediately. Our waitress helped with the wifi and we checked out the menu. Fried pickles to start were delicious and served quite hot. I chose the basic burger which comes with cheese and bacon and pickles/lettuce/tomato. Ketchup was added and we were rocking along.
