I was drawn to some great Persol Frames PO3253V which this Lens Crafters normally doesn't carry. The one they had in stock fit and looked perfect. I initially had a Single Vision prescription that wasn't working. Being in between Single Vision and Progressives. They very happily remade the Progressives I needed as I had Presbyopia. I want to personally thank the Lens Crafters Manager Adam for his patience and skill in helping me find the right frames and lenses for me. The customer service at the Merle My Lens Crafters at a local mall experience. A lovely one, indeed. My 1 star rating is generous. Saturday, after my eye appointment I looked at the selection of frames at Lens Crafters. We found a pair of Ultra Wayfarers and I tried them on, liked them, and was offered a quote. I didn't buy them immediately because of two poor experiences we've had in the past and I was weighing my options. The gentleman working with me was polite and emailed the quote to me. Since I've never experienced an issue with Wayfarer frames I thought this would be a safe purchase and on Sunday I decided to pull the trigger. The Lens Crafter system said they could not accept my insurance and I should either call or stop in. I decided to call. I suspected it was a matter of updating my insurance information. It had been two years since my last purchase and insurance has changed. Not a good decision. The toll-free number sends you into the customer service rabbit hole and I end up needing to phone the store. Alright, not a big deal, I'll get to speak to a live human. I'll call him John Doe 1. JD 1 was okay, he couldn't find the quote made for me on Saturday. I was told by his coworker, John Doe 2 the system doesn't hold price quotes that have been emailed to prospective customers. But back to JD 1 JD 1 asked me to forward him the email sent me with the quote. He said he would take a look at it and call me right back. I happily obliged. He didn't call right back. One hour and forty minutes later l called Lens Crafters and spoke to JD 2, I advised him of the situation and he was aware of it, adding the sales floor had become busy. Then, I interrupted by asking why the system didn't have my quote. JD 2 told me the system doesn't save quotes that have been emailed because the potential customer has the option to purchase online. However, that doesn't explain how I address the issue with my insurance. I asked JD 2 why wouldn't the system not keep a quote in the event of an issue such as the one we're discussing? This is the follow direct quote of mine turned the whole thing sideways. "Don't you think that's a back asswards way to conduct customer service?" In a condescending manner, JD 2 responded "Scoooottt, if you continue I'll end this conversation". I returned the attitude: "Johhhhhhny...." CLICK! I wasn't particularly rude, but I was beginning to sense that I was going to start hearing excuses. And if you know me, you know I'm not up for any bullshit. Just tell me what you are going to do and get it done. I can go to any other eyeglass provider and find what is likely a better selection of frames and most certainly better service. I like the convenience of Lens Crafters but I'm not going to lose sleep over not doing a deal because of quoting system that isn't focused on customer service and, in my opinion, a thin skinned kid. Insurance or no insurance, I'll purchase a pair of glasses from another provider and forget I ever step foot in Lens Crafters. Over the years, Lens Crafters has become a real disappointment and not worthy of my business. A 1 star rating is generous. read more

Jeff...the Manager of the Merle Hay store in Des Moines, Iowa immediately got up set and kept talking over me....tell me what do do...very rude. Started blaming eye doctor for the problem. Now, I am banned from lens crafters. Haha How, do you like that for customer service. Tracy...lady who helped me there....was very professional and kind. Jeff...this is not the job for you. Corporate needs to listen to our phone call....starting when I accidentally called at 8:00am and you rudely ....almost yelling at me and told me you weren't open yet...you just walked in the door...not kind at all. Used to go here until I found out that the gigantic international company which owns Lenscrafters has used its huge size to kill off competitors and jack prices to the sky. Either buy from your local optometrist or get a Costco membership, their frame selection is limited but their prices are reasonable. read more

My sister was running out of time,for a vacation of her lifetime's scheduled departure at 6:00 AM Tuesday when her glasses broke. Everyone's answer was they didn't have the equipment to fix them. They said it would take a week to get her a new pair. And her vision insurance said none of the one-hour providers were opened today. We ran out to Merle Hay on an off-chance, Lenscrafters could do something. The young man confirmed they didn't have the equipment to repair her metal frames. BUT, he did have the name and address of a jeweler who could repair them while she waited. And, yes, he could have a new pair made in a hour if she wanted to go that way too. She did, and he helped her find frames suited to her face. While we had a nice late lunch, they got her all squared away. The glasses, with transition lenses and lineless bifocals, cost her just over $200. And they took her Care card, giving her 6-months interest-free. All told, this was a great relief to her and made me look like a brilliant older sister for thinking of it. read more

Got new glasses two months ago. The lens scratch every time I go to clean them. They were supposed to be scratch resistant. I have worn glasses for 30 years and know how to take care of them. Worst glasses ever. General manager not only unhelpful, but even nasty. Never going back. Recommending to friends, extended family and employees that they never go back either. We have bought numerous pairs of glasses for this store over the years, and never been treated this way before. read more

I went here to get a pair of glasses. They tried to get my insurance information but they couldn't find any, then they informed me that my insurance company was not in their network. I called my insurance company and they said that my plan is capable to go anywhere. The LensCrafters's staff no longer serve me or try do anything for my situation even tho my insurance representative explained to them. They won't even walk out of their counter at the very back. I ordered a pair of single prescription glasses. The store lost my prescription, wanted to sell me a used frame and then double charged! Of course I asked for my money back. The clerk who waited on me was the store manager! As I was leaving the store, she called out: "Ma'am, we did the best we could for you." REALLY??!? Definitely will not go back. Great experience and customer service by Marie & Tracy! I needed glasses quickly because I lost mine on a road trip across the country. They helped me get the best glasses that I could in less than 1 hour so I could get on the road again. Prices were very good as they were having a 40%-off-lenses sale and the frames were $47 because they had a used section. They took the time to make sure they fit and were comfortable. We recently went to Universal Studios and my son lost his glasses on The Hulk. While I'm all about buying local, this was one time I was glad to be with a national company. It was Sunday at 4 and, thankfully, there was a LensCrafters about 10 minutes away. I called, they had his prescription and we had new glasses by 6! Loved it. read more

I have been going to the Jordan Creek LensCrafters for the last 10 or so years. But this time I decided to go to the LensCrafters at Merle Hay since it was closer to my home. BAD decision that turned out to be. First off, it is a very DIRTY office. The floor looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in ages. The eye dr. seemed to be nice and efficient until he went to put the contacts in my eyes. He did not wash his hands before opening my contacts and proceeded to put one in my eye. I have never had an eye dr or the assistant do that. Sanitary reasons you don't and if you do then WASH your hands. I let him know this as well and he gave me the other one and told me to do it. Secondly, I told them i used Acuvue Oasis contacts and have for the last 20 years. Now, granted they asked how many times I changed them and if I slept in them and of course I answered all their answers and still they did not give me an Acuvue Oasis contact. One of the girls even told the girl checking me out that I did not wear those and I wore some other brand. I said no, that I have worn the other ones forever and that was what I wanted. I left thinking, "I was never dealing with them again. I would get my prescription and order contacts elsewhere". I did not realize they write the brand of contacts on the prescription so if I went somewhere else they can only give you the ones they wrote down. I proceeded to call them and they were argumentative with Cosco so I called Jordan Creek Lenscrafters and they were nice enough to call MH and let them know what I have been wearing and MH would not budge. Stated I had to go back in and get a trial pair then another exam, charging me again, and then they would consider changing the brand. I explained to them, MH, that I had already told them what i wore and if they would have listened to me we wouldn't be going through this. So now I am going to have to go back to them, MH, to have them change the brand of contacts if they will otherwise I will have to get another exam, out of pocket, since my insurance will not pay for another one just to order contacts. Jordan Creek stepped up to the plate and told me to come in and they would give me a trial pair and order me contacts in the Oasis without charging me another exam. I will NEVER go back to MH LensCrafters again, nor will I recommend anyone to go there. STAY AWAY FROM THERE!!!!! read more

I went into the lenscrafters inside Merle Hay Mall in Des Moines, IA last week to get a new pair of glasses. I had an eye exam just before in the office next door right before. The gentleman I talked to was very helpful. I wanted to know about the transition lenses and he was very knowledgeable about them. I found out that they do not change in the car so I decided to get a pair of prescription sunglasses too. My prescription is very bad and the guy had picked out some frames that would hide the thickness of my lenses. I purchased (what I thought) was the correct lenses for the transition lenses. Also found out that the 1.74 ( thinner of the lenses and much needed for myself) would not work with the transition lenses so I had to go with the 1.67 lenses. I have been going to lens crafters since I have started needed glasses (over 15 years, and a new pair of glasses almost every year). This is where it gets interesting. After going over prices and getting everything squared away, it is time to pay. I wanted to split up my regular glasses and my sunglasses onto two different credit cards. The salesman accidentally charges me for the full amount on the first card (which was a debit card) and uses almost all of my money in that account. After "voiding" that transaction he tries to charge me for just the regular glasses and I didn't have enough in that account now since returning to a debit card takes a few days to go through. We then leave after nothing else could be done and I would call once the money is refunded into my account. 3 days later I call and they recharge me the full amount again which is fine; I figured out the money situation myself. My order is then started, it wasn't started when the salesman messed up. I get a call yesterday saying my glasses are ready. I don't live near the lenscrafters store so I had asked for them to call me only when both pairs are ready. So today I head into town to pick them up, I get there only to find out that my sunglasses are not ready...After talking with the saleswoman we find my regular glasses. There are something definitely wrong with them. The lenses are thicker than my lenses I have currently (even though my prescription got better and I was specifically told that the frames would hide the thickness and the style would make the lenses thinner). After she fitted my glasses I decide that I really don't like the look of the thick lenses and the frames, but I said I would try them to test the transition lenses. After I say this the saleswoman says that my glasses did not have the transition lenses... So basically I made a trip to lenscrafters to not have my sunglasses ready and my other glasses were not made correctly. I am a very dissatisfied customer and will definitely not be taking my business back to lenscrafters. read more
