Dentist Needing a…read morenew dentist when I moved up to PSL, and being extremely leary of Florida dentists in general, I found Veranda which is nearby so decided to give them a try for a cleaning. Office is tucked in a very nicely done shopping center with the expected Florida water and shrubbery and outdoor ceiling fans. The office inside is larger than it appears from walking by and the front desk staff are just wonderful. Friendly and attentive, they will get you checked in and situated in short order. First visit went well with no hard sell / upsell of crazy services like "deep cleaning" (never heard of that until I got to FL) and all around a pleasant visit. Been back there about four times now and again, no hard sell or any pressure to do anything outside of what you would expect. I was glad when I did receive a call with Dr. Salib gave me a call about a week later after he saw my review. I shared my experience with him and wasn't sure what happened and it seemed to come down to communication and explaining everything. I told Dr Salib I am not firing my Dr who I have been going to for years without talking to him first. Dr. Salib said he would do an investigation but his people are good people. I told him I respected him for that but you also need to ask yourself how and why your patient came in for a cleaning and left without it. more importantly he was calling me because he had to find my review on yelp which would never had been posted if your office manager told you to call me as I had requested and that he is the Dr and we are his patients not the office manager. Dr. Salib asked how can we move forward and said to have Cathy call me and reschedule my cleaning as I still wanted to get my teeth cleaned. It's been over a week so I just called the office and asked to have Cathy the hygienist give me a call I was met with what can I help you with. I said again I would like to discuss with Cathy. I was told she was the office manager and asked what it was pertaining to and I shared it was in regards to rescheduling my cleaning. I was then told that isn't going to be happening. ask her what she meant by that and she said she would not be rescheduling me and that she can assist me by providing my Xrays. I said ok, can you please have Dr Salib call me and she said no, then she said she would but was sure he didn't want me to speak to me or return my call. So Dr. Salib if that is your stance I would have expected you to pick up a the phone and call me and tell me yourself, Not ask me how do we move forward. If not you know my number. He put me at ease from the very start and I have a bad gag reflex and his techs are the best and were able to make me relax and they got the xrays without me gagging and Dr. Matheny uses high tech, modern equipment and he even has what I call "a magic wand" which is an instrument that he slides across the gum line while administering novacaine and you can hardly feel the injections. He is very thorough with his exam and took all the necessary xrays and fitted me for a bite guard because he told me my teeth were getting smaller from grinding them and the bite guard relieves it and I was hesitant because I was afraid of gagging doing the impression and he had me sit up and lean forward and sat with me and spoke to me the entire time and I had no reaction or gagging from the impression and now am using the bite guard and it does work. I also need 2 crowns on my 2 front teeth and I am actually looking forward to going back to have Dr. Matheny do the work and have my teeth look good because he is going to have my teeth whitened before the crowns and I am excited about having my teeth whitened and will actually smile with my mouth open because they are on the yellow side and I always keep my mouth closed for pictures. My husband is having extensive work done and said that Dr. Matheny is the best dentist he has ever gone to and I have recommended him to friends who are very pleased with him and his office staff. From the minute I stepped in the office, I knew this was an office like no other. The waiting area was welcoming and felt more like my living room than a dental office.
