Sonya is a tremendous massage therapist. Not only is she knowledgeable about many different modalities, but she also combines them into sessions that work best for my concerns. In any given session, she might do some deep-tissue work, some positional release therapy, more relaxing Swedish massage, or therapeutic work for injury recovery. Regardless of the modalities she uses, she always charges the same amount -- so I never have to worry that I'll walk out paying a lot more than I expected walking in. Try that at Canyon Ranch or Kripalu (both of which she worked at for many years before starting her own business, by the way). I have old sports injuries in my shoulders (made worse by poor ergonomics, of course) and during an especially bad bout, I saw Sonya for several sessions and she was instrumental in my recovery. She also showed me positional release that I could practice at home between sessions, and gave me tips on ergonomics. Besides Sonya's obvious skill and customized approach, I also like that her studio is private, so there's no hanging out in a waiting room in a robe with a bunch of other people. And her location on Main St. in Lenox is extremely convenient, so I can get in and out with no fuss and not have to sit in traffic during the height of tourism season. If you're in need of some therapeutic bodywork or even just want to treat yourself to a little relaxation, Sonya is, in my opinion, the most skilled and the best value Berkshires-wide. read more

Back in Oct. 2017 my husband began a new job in Massachusetts while I was preparing our move to the state, along with taking care of our 2 kids. I had packing and cleaning to do, and I was very stressed out because of the whole situation. My husband purchased a gift certificate for me from this business for when we did finally arrive as a family to the state. We arrived in our new home in mid-Nov. 2017 and I not only had to deal with the usual business of unpacking boxes, moving large pieces of furniture, removing wallpaper and repainting several rooms of this older house, but we also had to deal with a slow insurance company after a deer crumpled our vehicle during the actual move from our previous residence to our new house. Plus, being a mom of 2 middle-school aged kids, and not a retired vacationer whose time is their own, I'm busy driving the kids around town and preparing family meals. Then out-of-town guests arrived for the holidays in the midst of our chaos. It wasn't until Jan. 2018 that I was ready to settle down and make use of the gift certificate my husband had purchased for me only 3 months earlier. But when I opened the envelope and read the gift certificate, I noted that the therapist wrote "Expires 12/31/17" on the gift certificate! I was shocked! I had never before received a massage gift certificate demanding that I use it before a set date, and I usually get around to using them within 6 months of receipt. When somebody writes "expires" on something, it says to me that I'm supposed to "use it or lose it," that if I don't use it, then I'm supposed to forfeit the money that was spent on it. I was angry and appalled and wrote a different review over this experience on Google about my displeasure over a gift certificate having an expiration date only 2 months after purchase. I called this woman and she said, at the time, that she would still honor the gift certificate and so we scheduled the massage. But it wasn't until after making the appointment that she found the review on Google and asked me to remove it, which I did. Two days later, I received an email from her saying that she was cancelling my appointment and refunding the certificate money to my husband and that she wanted the gift certificate back. (How tacky!) This wasn't my decision; it was hers! So not only did she not wish to honor the gift certificate that my husband spent the time, effort and money to graciously purchase for me, but she was also refusing to honor my appointment! She originally asked me to remove the review from Google because she had "never had a bad review before." But by her own actions of cancelling my appointment and refusing to honor a gift certificate are what earns her a brand-new poor review. I have no idea what her motivations were but I can only guess, and I find these actions highly unprofessional. Small businesses, such as this one, cannot afford to push customers away, especially customers who have the potential of becoming regular clients because they live in the area. And in this area where "everyone knows everyone else," this small business owner made a horrible decision to cancel my appointment just because I had initially been unhappy about her idea of putting expiration dates on gift certificates in order to rush people to her office. I know from my own past experience that there are many benefits to receiving massage therapy, and I have had work done by many good therapists in the past. But I also know that small massage therapy offices are competing against the corporate massage therapy places like Elements and Massage Envy and other places that are giving massage therapy a bad reputation. This woman cannot afford to make bad business decisions like the ones she made within this kind of business climate. It is up to HER to ATTRACT customers--not make them angry enough to tell the whole world about their bad experiences with her. So what began as an intended gift from a husband to his wife ended becoming a cruel rejection notice from someone who was paid to provide a service. Now whenever I drive through the Lenox area and I see her blue attraction signs on the road, I get really angry. (P.S. Later, I told this story to a day-spa receptionist of a different local business, and she informed me that putting an expiration date of ANY KIND on a massage gift certificate is ILLEGAL in the state of Massachusetts.) read more

SONYA IS THE TRUTH!!!! I booked an appointment with her for my birthday (first off, it was easy, and she was incredibly quick in her response, and accommodating to my schedule). She is so incredibly knowledgable and intuitive. I got the deep tissue and the Corrective adjustment (sorry, that might not be the name). Anyway, she was able to A. feel exactly where needed to be worked on - I felt like we collaborated: I told her the area and the type of pain and she moved there intuitively and worked the area till we found the specific spot that was giving me the trouble {oftentimes it wouldn't be the obvious place with the pain, but somewhere else}, B. Work with the exact amount of pressure and with the gradient. C. Intuit and observe the root of what was giving me trouble ( we found a problem area that was so subtle but may have been the root of my pain). She gives excellent follow up advice, and i wish I was from the area so that I could book more regular sessions with her. I left feeling like I had a new body. Seriously. And she is a kind, generous, fascinating woman! She gets to the root of the problem, and gives great suggestion as to how to continue to treat and prevent it in the future. I wish I had booked earlier and could have had more sessions. We chatted and she definitely gave me a treatment over the 90 minutes. She's incredible. RUN TO HER!!! read more

I was in town to run a marathon on Sunday, so I called ahead and scheduled a sports massage with Sonya for Monday, knowing I would be in pretty strong need of recovery help. She set up a 90-minute appointment for me, and I showed up the morning after the marathon with tired legs and sore core. Sonya started the session by asking me to fill out some history, and we spent a good amount of time talking about the challenges I was having, with both my lifestyle (computer professional) and my exercise-induced issues. She spent a good amount of time performing some Positional Release Therapy (not sure if that's what it's really called) and teaching me some strategies I can use in the long term to stay more healthy. Then she did some massage that was specialized for my particular case. The time we spent going over medical history etc. was NOT subtracted from my 90-minute appointment, which is a huge plus over the chain massage franchise places! Anyway, if I'm ever again in the Berkshires and in need of a massage, Sonya will definitely get my business. read more

She is able to provide therapeutic massage as well as "de-stressing" / "relaxation" massage. In addition, her positional release therapy is AWESOME. We were on vacation in Lenox and all four of us -- my husband, me and our 22yo twins -- really wanted a massage. We booked Sonya for back-to-back appointments knowing nothing but that she had a few good Yelp reviews. Well, she was amazing. I went in with a bunch of issues, which she diagnosed quickly and then came up with a custom fix for: half my hour was spent on a shoulder massage and the other half on positional release. Throughout, she was notably smart and intuitive and thoughtful about the nuances of my problems, and even taught me a few positional release tricks I can do on my own to keep them from coming back. My husband, who gets regular massages at home, also thought she was excellent and says he learned a few things from her no one else has ever told him. Our kids were also delighted. In short, Sonya is just very talented, and I wish I knew someone at home who offered such a range of thoughtful bodywork. read more

My husband and I have been going to Sonya for years for massages. She always gives you the full time (an hour is an hour). It is the same price regardless of the type of massage (deep tissue, sports, or Swedish). She is knowledgeable in more than just massage and tailors your visit based on your condition. i had a the most amazing 90 minutes with Sonya today.. To say she is just a masseuse would be a disservice . Sonya is the most knowledgable therapist i had ever had work on my back. I am from New York and am here in Lenox for a little family time skiing.. i have had major issues with my back for years and was just looking for a little reilef from my aches and pains while my family was skiing. I had a wonderful experience with Sonya. I have chronic neck issues, so I get massage regularly to help keep it in check. I was in the Berkshires for a long weekend and booked a massage with Sonya after a recommendation from my B&B. She is fantastic. She takes the time to get to know your medical history and needs. She uses a combination of massage and positional release therapy, and I felt comfortable with her from the beginning. I work in physical therapy, and have had several massages over the years that were sub-par to average. This experience was the exact opposite. She's a personable, knowledgable, experienced professional who really knows what she's doing. I highly recommend her!! read more
