We initially were in the way back which was a little hot as there wasn't much air flow but after there was a no show party the server moved us to a better table. We started of with some wine and a gin n tonic. For the meal I had the summer garden with falafels which was amazing. It was very light but also filling and the falafels where super tasty. Overall great experience and would highly recommend this place when in Zurich.

We visited the Barchetta Bar and were very fortunate to have Mimi as our server. Her recommendations to assist us with deciding between the cocktail options were spot on. Mimi made our first visit so great that we made a point of returning to Barchetta Bar three times. On subsequent visits, Mimi was as wonderful and welcoming as always and even filled us in on the impact of the Cycling event that might impact a trip we had the next day. The cocktails, Storchen Cuvee and snacks were fantastic. It was such a warm, cozy place to sit and watch folks walking along the banks of the Limmat River. We highly recommend Barchetta Bar for a wonderful experience.

Despite having having 3 bartenders behind the bar, they couldn't handle our drink orders. It was a zoo! It took forever to get a drink because they are sooooo slow. Some might argue that a good drink takes time, but do you really have to stir the damn ice cubes 640 times to properly incorporate two ingredients? By the time, the bartender was finally done with our unprecedented bulk order of 3 drinks, we asked to pay with a credit card. He asked if it was all together. We said it was two cards. He shook his head in disapproval and rudely said he couldn't deal with it now - he has other drinks to make. So we walked away! He's lucky we came back to order more of the world's slowest and rudest drinks, or we may have just forgotten to pay our tab. I mean, businesses do need money to thrive, don't they? His attitude the whole night was: too cool for school. Bottom line is: their specialty is gin (I prefer, whiskey, tequila and rum to gin anyway) and they make a good cocktail, albeit pricey (15-24 CHF), but there are plenty of other magnificent cocktail bars in Zürich that make incredibly delicious drinks and manage to treat their customers like customers! Think Barfly'z, Hotel Rivington & Sons, Kronenhalle Bar, Tina Bar... and the list goes on... I'm striking Dante from my list.

I'm picky about cocktails and was on a stopover after a two week holiday where I shied away from ordering them because nothing seemed worth ordering in the area I was visiting. This menu was overwhelming, though--so many creative and thought-provoking options that it was hard to choose. We each selected one and it was utterly delicious, making us wish we had time for a second! We weren't sure what to wear and were surprised to see quite a mix, from people dressed in smart casual up to elegant attire. So it's not super prescriptive in that way. Also worth noting--my partner is celiac, so we need strict gluten free food with no cross contamination. At least one of the drinks was elaborate enough (featuring lacto-fermented strawberries) that we thought it was worth double checking with the server about cross-contamination. He took it seriously and advised us confidently (as the other hotel staff had done in our hotel experience with the Widder), and my partner stayed safe. So while we didn't order food, I suspect they would have navigated the issue well.

We went there on Friday for the first time and we fell completely in love with this bar! The restaurant was the first to serve oysters in Switzerland after WWII. Today, deliveries of live lobsters and oysters are made twice daily for each service. Dishes are prepared in the classic French style and incorporate modernist touches. Straight to it, some fresh shucked Belon oysters (8CHF ea). The real deal from France (not the imitation farmed in the States). Unlike any oyster I've tasted. Plump and briny with an unmistakable taste of copper (try putting a clean penny in your mouth and sucking on it) finishing with hazelnut oil notes (ie hazelnut but slight oxidation). You're either gonna love it or hate it. I loved it. More oysters? The Gilardeau (10CHF ea). From a single producer, considered the top oyster of France and one so coveted that the shells are actually laser engraved to prevent counterfeiting. Large, plump, good salinity beautiful creaminess with strong briny notes. It is absolutely worth the 10CHF the price. The lobster salad (42CHF) is excellent. More lobster than greens. The tail, simply poached, the claw fried golden brown in the lightest tempura batter. Fresh diced mango with a very tart bite add the acidity while creamy pureed avocado swirls and dots the plate. Fried rice crackers add texture. Very well balanced and refreshing dish. The lobster with champagne sauce(84CHF) is equally impressive. The tail and claws have been butter poached and sit in a very rich champagne cream sauce. No trace of alcohol, the sauce instead has the yeasty and acidic notes of champagne with a hint of sweetness. A foam version of the sauce atop the accompanying broccoli, peas and cauliflower compliments the vegetal flavor. The crunchy Venere rice with its unmistakable sandal wood notes is the perfect textural foil. Sadly no room for their tableside flambéed crepes Suzette that they are known for.
