Knowing how much I love pictures my now fiancé knew that having someone capture his proposal was a MUST. Of course the last thing on my mind when he popped the question was "I hope someone is catching this on camera right now" but when he pointed to Mark up on the hill above us I was SO surprised and excited. After capturing our special moment Mark came down and met us and took many more photographs. Our engagement photos were creative and beautifully edited, we did them at Balboa Park and he spent so much time with us. I can't even begin to describe how fantastic our experience with Mark was. Coming from out of state, it was difficult choosing the right photographer for us. In the end, We went with what was most important, great lighting and natural poses, and Mark didn't let us down! He was able to capture every important moment with perfect timing. He was also happy to accommodate requests for specific poses and props. We were a little worried about not feeling comfortable since we've never done professional photos but his personality was so laid back that it was actually really fun! Throughout the experience he was very professional. He was on top of emails and let us know ahead of time that there would be a period of time that he would have limited internet access. On the day of the wedding he arrived early and got right to work. During our ceremony the pastor ended up being an hour late and he continued to take as many photos as he reasonably could until he got there. Since our wedding was on the beach, it was difficult for us to hear his instructions due to the waves but his patience never faltered and the pics are AMAZING! We absolutely couldn't have asked for a better photographer or more beautiful photos to remember our day. AMAZING photographer, but was injured on the shoot Bottom line, I loved our pictures! They are fantastic beautiful amazing pictures and we've gotten tons of compliments on them. Mark was great to work with and we would totally go to him again. Unfortunately, I did injure myself during the shoot. He had my fiance and I hold hands and jump off a rock into the sand. We were both obviously nervous about it since we didn't like heights, but were encouraged to do it. When I landed, I knew I did something to my foot, but assumed I just rolled it and didn't let anyone know I was hurt until after the shoot. After the shoot we went to our hotel and spent the rest of the night icing my foot. The next morning my knee was very swollen and I was in a lot of pain so we went to the hospital. I had a sprained foot and the doctor there told me he thought I tore something in my knee and needed to see a doctor when I got home. Well, I just saw a doctor yesterday and I have a torn ACL and will now have to have surgery to repair it. We are having to move our wedding date to the fall, which means certain family members won't be able to come anymore due to their kids being in school. I think Mark is a nice guy, but I was injured one day into our vacation (my first vacation in 5 years) and now am dealing with hospital bills. Basically, if he asks you to jump, don't. We were visably nervous about the jump and were talked into doing it. read more

If you are looking for a professional photographer with quality work and affordable price, Mark is the guy. I found him on Craigslist and didn't have much expectation, but surprisingly the engagement shoot turned out great. We did our engagement shoot at Balboa Park on a busy Sunday. Little being said the park was filled with people. Mark was very professional and he was able to capture just the two of us(and our dog) in most of the pictures. He kept his promise and uploaded the pictures online within a week, mailed me the CD without me nagging him(which my friends have many bad experience with other photographers because they take forever to edit the pictures). I am HUGE on good quality AND customer service so when I find a business that provides both I will return again and again and make sure to tell everyone I know. Why? Let's be honest it is not easy to come by. If you want a true professional with 10+ years of experience and a unique ability to capture the personalities of your guests and really "tell a story", as well as to produce stunningly beautiful photos... hire Mark, you won't be dissapointed! I initially hired Mark because I was drawn to his ability to capture light, specifically on the beach. I was thrilled with our wedding photos, and some of them even made me "gasp!" when I saw them for the first time they were so amazing. Many people commented that the photos could have been in a catalog. Mark also was one of the most responsive vendors I hired, often getting back to me within an hour, and was super easy to work with. He has the perfect personality for wedding photography because he was not intrusive at all and also seemed to have the ability to be present without people noticing. I appreciated that he helped to direct me how to pose for some of the more formal shots, and they came out beautifully (I can be pretty awkward!). I especially loved that Mark got some amazing candid shots of friends and family. We have a great range of gorgeous, posed scenic shots and "in the moment" dancing shots.
