One of the best ways to spend a day or half day with kids. It's in NJ, so driving is easiest, but…read moreyou can also take the ferry or PATH and Uber from there. It really isn't far from the city. The place is huge and there's a ton to do. You can plan your visit around some of the shows and movies, or just walk around and explore. With two kids of different ages, it works really well because there's something for everyone -- even a small "zoo" area. The food is pretty average, and I wish they changed some of the exhibits more often, but those are minor complaints. The staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable, especially the people running the special activities. Definitely worth visiting and one of those places you can come back to multiple times. If you're short on time, I'd recommend looking at the schedule beforehand and making a loose itinerary so you don't miss the things you want to see.

There are also physically challenging obstacles as well. Kids will learn, they'll play, have fun, you explore and then head home. I highly recommend arriving right when they open at it gets busy. Within an hour after lunch time, it'll be packed...with lines to use a bathroom. They also have rotating exhibits here that change every year or so. Currently, there's a cool exhibit that will teach you all about poison! Fascinating facts. I attended a private event here recently and it was so nice. No crowds! They provided a big lunch for us and had 4 buffets setup so lines moved quickly. We even had a happy hour at the end of the day with open bar and appetizers. It was a really nice day! Be sure and check out the top level balcony and enjoy that city view. Look to the right and you'll see the Statue of Liberty!

I prefer the Coldplayum of Pizza. But that doesn't exist, so…read more It's not really a great museum and more like a life-sized model of what it would be like to walk around on a pizza slice or something. I mean they made a good effort and it's quite an original idea but at the same time I can see why people want their money back, rate it badly and such, and it's not exactly cheap. 3 stars only for originality but they should do a lot more - like having pizza samples!

Ehh... Initially me…read moreand some friends were super excited to come because we love pizza. We happened to walk past on our way to dinner at Westlight. First of all $35 bucks is way too much to spend for this place. Even $30 is too much. We happened to snag a $5 off our ticket . You could also get a group on for $31 bucks. I think $20 would have been a better price. This museum of pizza is located at the bottom of the William Vale Hotel - at the corner. It is open until November 18th 2018 only So this is not a big " museum" . You can be there 30-60 mins tops. There are like 8 ish rooms.... most of them are ehhhh... there is " art" as in paintings , sculptures etc - some of it boring and uneventful... especially for the price Some of it is cool... loved looking at all the different pizza boxes from different pizzerias... loved the pizza guitar and the painting of the nude girl eating pizza on the bed. Loved the glow in the dark room... good photo op. We also loved the photo booth in the back of the DiGiorno room. I liked the last supper and Adam and Eve banners also You can get some popcorn to watch 3 short films And you get a slice of pizza at the end . It was hot and good to me . Water was offered . Surprisingly no bathrooms inside- you would have to go to the William Vale lobby to use the bathroom It would have been way more disappointing if this was the only thing we did ... thank god we made a day of it and also went to Brooklyn Bowl.

We were a large group, which seemingly for them was a surprise, and I get it, it's a 40 minute bus ride from the Staten Island Ferry, and seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but its a truly a gem. $15 got us wandering around the historic houses either built there or relocated there, with employees who in historic costumes give an informative demonstration of tin making, or basket weaving, woodworking, cooking (waffles & fresh strawberries direct from a wood-burning fire were fire). Plus we saw a reenactment of Juneteenth, and a broom-jumping ceremony, with music, and vendors, and a great ice cream parlor. A cafe at the edge of the block has a full American food menu, and lively outdoor seating. There's plenty of parking, and the vibe is simple, relaxing, friendly and revealing. I learned a lot, and enjoyed the friendly staff who were our teachers. I took photos, but eventually decided to just experience it. I only wish I would have spent time in the gift shop, I'm sure I would have certainly bought stuff I liked a lot, but truly didn't need. I would go again for another event, that seemed the perfect place for history lessons in a fun way.

Disheartening it is to hear other Yelpers mention that this museum is in a state of "disrepair," and with placement of objects "without apparent reason." Since when did age take away the value of something? And simply because we don't know what a relic pertains to, does not make it insignificant nor seemingly random. If you can, look closer and try to imagine a different time and place when a homeland was under great divide. Or better yet, ask a curator. What is the significance to their people? Their religion? To their hopes and dreams? Although not an ample ground, what it lacks in size, this museum makes up for in its sacred collections, those of which -- from the humble entrance to the tattered but colorful woven deity hangings -- are fully dedicated to mimic the mountain monasteries as close as possible, bringing us the unique history that accompanies each piece, coming from a time when the Tibetan peoples and culture was under threat from China. As for the meditation and Tai Chi sessions, as well as general designated visiting hours, you will have to check their Events Calendar, listed on their website. These classes are held on Saturdays for $12 per person or $10 for members. (An annual membership fee of $25 grants you unlimited access to the museum for the entire year.) Admission for the museum-only is $6 for adults, though there is currently a Groupon deal for $11 that gives you and three other guests access, typically from the times of 1-5PM. A very tiny price to pay, if you ask me, for a substantial viewing into what is an exceptional culture, right here on the island that'll make you feel like you're thousands of miles away.
