Every time we come in to his new shop he greets us from the outside. Its like he's the emcee of the grocery store, which makes us feel both welcome and entertained at the same time. As regulars walk in, we hear him greeting them, like the set of the show Cheers. It's an Asian market, so there are many vegetables that I've never heard of before. Here's where my curiosity takes me: Me: "What's this vegetable" Emcee Owner: "Oh it's a (insert strange name here)" Me: "How do you cook it?" Emcee Owner: "Umm... stirfry it with some garlic" *does hand motions to show tossing the veggies with the garlic* Me: "Do I cook the whole thing or just the tops?" Emcee Owner: "You can cook the whole thing... it depends if you like the tops or not" Me: "Oh okay. Thanks" Emcee Owner: "Actually I don't know, my mom cooks for me.." *laugh* I freaking love his honesty. We took some veggies home tonight and tried some new ones. The Yam sprouts weren't so tasty, but some of the harder to pronounce ones have been good. Last week he gave us a sample of champagne grapes that had just come in (he was really excited about them). When we came in today for more, it looked like they were all sold out, but he slyly smiled and said that 'for us' there was more. Rad. Whether it was true or not didn't matter, we felt so VIP. We bought the grapes and then he showed us the cool different types of pears that he's just brought in. He was so passionate about each one, he insisted we buy one of each to sample. And... we did. This guys good! Making at least $15 a week off us for sure! Check out that Escalade..... Oh and the prices are cheap. There of course isn't the variety that a box grocery store would have, but it's good enough for what we need... and the personal touch that the owner gives (he's young, probably in his mid 30's) makes us feel really valued as customers. Both times that I have wandered in here, it's been a Tuesday, which is conveniently 10% off day every week. They have a small but thorough selection of produce, including a lot of Asian vegetables. I just got fresh water chestnuts today, which is very pleasing, indeed. Aside from the vegetables, they also have many of the regular grocery options found in Asian grocers - weird animal parts, meat, coconut milk, etc.. This place is also crazy cheap! I'm always stunned by just how little money I end up spending on a bag full of groceries. No organic options, but if that doesn't matter to you, this place is awesome.

I love the interior of this little space, it's decorated beautifully and they have lots of fab ingredients like olives, oils, iberico, cheese, and fish. We bought some anchovy olives and they were delicious, finished them in about 2 days. We also ordered 2 sandwiches - the bonito (tuna) and the regular jamon iberico. My husband really enjoyed his tuna and what I really liked about mine was it took me back to Spain! The tomato rubbed bread with slices of jamon. It definitely lets the ingredients speak for themselves - simple and satisfying. We will definitely be back to try more of their imported canned goods, coffees and sandwiches.

I just like coming here for a quick, easy meal where parking is easy and we don't have to pay any tips. The options are more limited for myself since I don't eat meat, but I'm not a fussy person. They have enough to satisfy my dietary restrictions and I'm happy with the food that I do get. On this visit, I saw that they had added a Vegetable Biryani to the hot foods section. I was overjoyed to see this option! I have often gone to Indian restaurants for dinner and meat eaters want to order a chicken biryani, and so I don't get to eat the biryani. Even if there's a Vegetable biryani on the menu they usually always still prefer to order the chicken biryani. It was so great to be able to have a biryani that I could actually eat, all to myself this time. Also, I could scoop however much or little of it that I wanted. That's something I like about eating here as well. We get to control how much food we want since we scoop it for ourselves. I took some of the Vegetable Biryani and a small amount of Masala Paneer to go on top of it. It was delicious. We've tried their soups in the past and the soups are all good too. Not a lot of vegetarian options unfortunately. If you're not picky though and just need a quick, easy meal with comfortable seating and no having to pay tips...this is a great place to come. You do need to spend a minimum of $10 here though to get your parking reimbursed. I don't recall having to spend $10 in the past. That rule might be a new one. We usually end up spending the $10 minimum very easily though when we come here, since we often come here for a meal.
