    Saigon Pho – Fail!
    Brian C.

Every once in a while, I decide to be a bit adventurous and order something I've never seen before. Bad move. I ordered the Saigon Pho (you know, that orange dish that they feature on the photos...) and it was not the absolute worst, but very far from the best. Not gonna lie, the first bite was pretty tasty, but it all went downhill from there. I really think that this dish is just a poor idea, rather than poor execution. Everything in the bowl was saturated in this bland, but rich, curry. There wasn't any depth to the flavor and I tried to remedy this train wreck by adding some Sriracha but I think it might've been expired... I really wanted to like this place, but each subsequent bite made me want to gag more and more. This all sounds extremely graphic and harsh, but I do believe in second chances so I will try a more conventional dish next time and update this review if necessary!

Tom Kha Gai with organic tofu

I have been there twice. First time I tried the vegetarian coconut milk soup with tofu. It was really good, not so spicy. The second time I ate noodles with tofu and peanuts. It was huge and really tasty. If you are not so hungry, you can share the portion. Don't forget to take mango-coconut lassi! Pros: prices around 6/7€ for main dishes Cons: the waitstaff don't speak English very well and need a reminder about the order.

    Hot and oily spring rolls
    Daniel A.

In a word - just one of the many Vietnamese places out there, trying to be sophisticated yet end up with a mediocre food and service that makes you lose your appetite. Longer version (for the brave) - after walking around on a hot Berlin summer day, we were trying to find a nice place to eat, while we passed by this one, we've decided this is it. So we sat down and saw how good all the reviews are, kinda felt like hitting the jackpot. But I'm sorry for ruining the party - this place is no good! At the beginning we were welcomed with a smile, ordered two shakes (Bangkok surprise and another one), a starter and two main dishes. One shake was perfectly balanced and the other one was way too sweet for me. The starter was super hot - here's a tip - don't order spring rolls on a hot summer day! Had better spring rolls in other places, and there was SO MUCH oil in them. Now the fun part begins - main dishes- My friend had a vegetarian red curry with mixed veggies, the tofu was probably silk tofu or something similar but was soft and kinda slimy with no taste, curry itself was quite alright. I've had chicken with veggies and mushrooms in something that was supposed to be ginger sauce - the chicken tasted like rubber and the sauce had no sign of ginger with a funny smell and taste. In both dishes the rice was dry and not too appealing. Was struggling with myself for a while whether I should return it or not, and when I figured there's no way I'm eating this, I've returned it and asked for a menu in order to order something else. But the waiter didn't like the idea of me returning a dish, his face was filled with contempt and from that moment on purposely ignored us. So I've decided not to order anything else, ask for the bill and leave. I was starving but this guy really know how to ruin the fun, just lost my appetite. So thanks for watching my figure, but next time I'll be eating somewhere else.

Amazing food. Their noodle salads are my favorite. Can sit outside on the sunny side of the street and eat like a king

It's not so clearly marked, but one orders the main dish (we had the shrimp with taro, cashews and green asparagus) and then has the choice of side order. my friend took the fragrant rice, but you could also get fried sweet potatoes, which i LOVE. we didn't order from the wine menu, but the drinks list was very extensive and we saw a well stocked cellar on the way in. it would be worth asking the waiter how to navigate the food menu if you're not sure about how it should follow. all in all a lovely new chinese retaurant with a relaxed ambience, without losing its charm. the place has been well renovated and looks great. the dim sum dishes were on the cheaper side, but also a bit smaller than one expects, so order a couple more to share. we had a chat with the owner (who served us) about the place, which opened up about a month ago, who seemed like a really lovely guy, passionate about his restaurant. we recommend you stop by and try it out, if not just to try out the dim sum! i recommend the dumplings, sesame balls and the lotus filled buns. yummy!

Outdoor seating was packed, but pretty much all the (long) tables inside were open. So if it's nice out and you want to sit outside, be prepared to wait. Since almost all the patrons were eating outside, service inside was somewhat slow. Menus were already on the tables, but it took some time to flag down a waiter and get one in English. Food came out in a timely manner, though. Before placing your order, be sure to check out specials on the chalk board! Dudu's menu mainly consisted of a mix of Vietnamese dishes and sushi. Decided to start with dumplings and the starter beef pho. Although both were good, I enjoyed the dumplings more. I liked how the dumpling wrapper wasn't too thick and that it was packed with pork. The dipping sauce went well with the dumplings and wasn't too sour or spicy. I liked how you can order a starter of the pho. It was the perfect size to get a taste of the dish, leaving room for other items on the menu. The small bowl was packed with noodles and beef shavings. The soup itself didn't have as much flavor as I would have liked it to, but it was still good. Our main meal consisted of a variety of rolls that we shared. The salmon avocado and tuna rolls were pretty good, although standard. The fish was fresh and the ratio of fish to fish was good. The crispy yellow roll, one of Dudu's special rolls, was just okay. The roll itself was deep fried and contained avocado and cucumber. Separate from the roll was diced spicy tuna that you were supposed to eat with the roll. If I knew it would came like this, I don't think I would have ordered it. I was over the actual roll pretty quickly, but really enjoyed the spicy tuna. I also tried some of C's "rice for kids", which was a small bowl of soup rice with chicken on top. He quickly ate all the chicken, but left most of the rice. Again, didn't know the rice would be rice mixed in a broth. You could tell the broth had ginger in it as the taste was pretty prominent. Not so sure this is a good idea for a kid's dish...the only kid's meal offered. Price of all the food was reasonable, although pricier than typical meals in Berlin.

The Vietnamese spring rolls were just OK. The sashimi and sushi were extremely fresh and delicious tasting. Very impressed. The rolls are generous, big portions. The chicken curry was OK. Could have used a little bit more heat. Overall really positive and enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend and come back.
