The location is a little unusual, being part of an old mall turned into an artsy shopping hub. There is a door outside of the mall to access the restaurant directly. Two notable dishes from our visit were the breakfast quesadilla (soooo good!) and the biscuits with mushroom gravy. The service was slow, however, it was a Sunday. We loved the place so much we booked a reservation for our next visit down to see our son at U of I. The restaurant also has a coffee bar where you can get special coffee drinks, and some random handheld foods. The seating area is eclectic and inviting. As you can tell, I think this place is pretty great!

I gotta give great praise to their Iced Tea. It was not sweetened, but wasn't bitter. Good amount of ice as well (which I know sounds weird). I got the fluffy egg sandwich which was good, but I was hoping for a little more flavor in the sausage. I added choula sauce to my second half and that seemed to do the trick. Sausage aside, it was cooked perfectly and presented wonderfully. The breakfast fries were also pretty outstanding. Crispy outside and soft inside with a perfect amount of seasoning. Those usually get left on the plate by me, but I ate it all. My dad got the Everything Bagel Sandwich. I slightly liked his sandwich better and will be what I get next time. I have to mention that the service was top notch. I think we had a new server, but she was witty, nice, and helpful. She really sold the place! I highly recommend this place! Great find!

The peach cider on tap was excellent and other customers said their cocktails were really good. The service was good. We were a group of 5 and were seated at a 2 person table pushed together with a 4 person table. The 4 person table had regular table legs in the 4 corners. When it was pushed against the bench, this made it impossible to get to our seats on the bench, especially in a dress. Kind of a crazy design. I had the pasta and it was fine. Nothing to rave about and pretty pricy to leave still hungry. I had considered the cod with peanut sauce and cauliflower puree. We were informed they didn't have cod anymore and it was either salmon or tilapia. It seemed crazy to charge $23 for tilapia while salmon & peanut sauce combo did not sound that great. A friend did order it and was unfortunately disappointed. The cauliflower was so puréed it ended up being very thin like a sauce. So, she ended up with 1 piece of fish with different sauces on her plate. No vegetables or carbs to go with the fish.

Batter great but mushroom looked like the got them right out of the tub from the grocery store across the street. Mushroom typically cooked down in the fryer these were still white button mushrooms dense and some hard. We didn't eat 3/4, I told server. Just a oh I'll tell them. Nothing else. Wife ordered pork burger and potato salad, our potato salads were extremely runny, again 5/10. My 2 meat platter, tri tip and brisket. No real flavor, I mean spices, smoke was ok, tri tip extremely hard to eat, stringy (overcooked) not tender at all (3/10) Brisket again not spice flavor, it had smoke, also only ate about 3 bites (3/10). Pit beans, 5/10. Everything on plate was not hot, also ordered a side of ribs which never made it to table but was on the bill. Wound up taking about as much home as that was brought out to us. Our son eats anything, since I paid 70$. I should have stayed with just a burger. We will return cause we like the place, it's an hour drive for us. But it was our conversation all the way home. We aren't ever going to cause a seen at a restaurant, but if a server would notice people not eating their food, there should be questions asked. Oh well she only came to take order delivery drinks when mushrooms came out, delivery food and drop the check. We didn't feel served well, which is odd for them. Usually very attentive. We never had this server before. We will return, but we will try some other small places in the mean time.

There are always at least a few dishes to pick from, rotating daily. They also have a house salad and Greek salad every day. They charge $5 for (practically) every entree, which is sometimes too much, sometimes too little for the dish. On the other hand, all sides are $0.75, so it all kind of evens out. They also have rotating desserts, but always have big, soft, fresh cookies. Although going through the line to pay with your tray feels like a cafeteria, the seating is basic, but very nice, wooden, and pretty comfortable. You sit with a number and relax and wait for your dishes to be brought to you--which usually isn't too long. They do serve breakfast, but I haven't been able to try it yet. The convenience of being able to check the menu on the website pushes the score to an A+!
