Berkley Disability

After calling several, I found being a Kaiser member was frowned upon, so much that no one wanted to take my case! I did some more research and I found Berkley Disability and decided to give them a call. I had a consultation with Cliff who made me feel very comfortable and confident in my case! He wasn't scared away by my Kaiser health insurance (for medical records). I had a great feeling after getting off the phone from my consultation, so I decided to hire them! Cliff and staff did an excellent job representing me, they communicated effectively and proactively with me. Filed all paperwork, were accountable to deadlines, easy to get ahold of if I had any questions. Lo and behold, I got my favorable decision! Wouldn't have been able to without their help, professionalism, confidence and their drive in going to bat for me. I've actually recommended them already to those who mention being in the same position with social security. This review is long overdue! Thank you Berkley Disability!

I chose Berkley Disability based on previous Yelp reviews, but over the course of a year and a…read morehalf, had a series of genuinely frustrating experiences leading me to realize that what was being advertised was not the quality of service that I was receiving. Over the course of the time that I was contracted with them, I called with specific questions on several occasions, and with one exception, was NEVER called back. The one time that Mr. Berkley did return my call, he was remarkably rude, dismissive and frankly rather condescending. Shockingly unprofessional. After my case was denied by Social Security, Berkley Disability didn't even bother to inform me: The SSA did, and I had to initiate contact with Berkley Disability just to get the appeals paperwork sent to me. At no point did anybody ever reach out. At no point did anybody discuss any strategy or considerations regarding how to approach my appeal. That is until I decided that I needed to cut ties and find somebody who will advocate for me and my case. I left a message saying that I was unhappy with my representation. This time, I received a call back within minutes. I was told that Mr. Berkley wanted to discuss my poor experience. They were pushy, and so I acquiesced. He was again, rude and quite prickly. He blamed his staff for the lack of quality service, and offered to handle my case personally. I said I was done, but thank you. At that point, he said that he intended to file a fee petition against my settlement, should a ruling be decided in my favor. I was surprised and asked for an accounting of the time they had spent on my case to date and received a list that was grossly padded. They even included the last call with Mr. Berkeley that *they* initiated. They charged for 45 minutes. The actual call length - approximately 20 minutes. Berkley Disability's communication and follow-through is bad and my experience with Mr. Berkley was that he was rude and unprofessional. If you want a company that is proactive and responsive to your needs, I suggest that you look elsewhere.

I had another attorney before him and I never felt like the other attorney was willing to go the extra mile for me like Mr. Kalish did. He knows a lot about the laws and about how to get you your benefits and looks at things differently, things that I would have neverhave thought to look at before when in an appeal He is very knowledgeable in his field of law and knew how to help me win my case of 4 years. l. I am so extremely thankful for this attorney because without him I do not think I would have won my appeals. If you are in the Orange county area or surrounding areas and are looking for an attorney for social security disabilityI strongly recommend hiring this attorney for you case not only is he kind but I promise you he will fight for you to the end. Thank you Mr kalish for all you did for me.

I watched Mr. Kalish video and read the reviews and decided this attorney was much better than my previous attorney with knowledge on the social security disability cases. I was welcomed with a friendly and cheerful first call with a wealth of new and helpful information that began my case again but this time with a stronger presentation and better assistance to how to work and manage the system through the process. There is a team work here and both team members have their job to get this case to a win. Every step of the way you have someone that listens, explains to you all the crazy paper work from Social Security and how to work around the multiple layers of a system that is set up to now want you to win your case. I had someone through Mr. Kalish that has the patience, knowledge and understanding to walk you successfully through each step. I had a FULLY favorable decision with my second attempt as this happened only with the expertise and knowledge of this competent and efficient attorney. I received a letter from Social Security seven months after being awarded already asking me to prove again that I am supposed to be receiving benefits. I made a phone call to Mr. Kalish for assistance as the best quality is that we can ask questions after the case is closed and awarded when Social Security continues to try the multiple levels of insanity for you to try and prove to their department what the Judge already awarded is correct. The peace of mind that you can call and receive answers to questions after the case is closed is just a further testament of the quality of attorney you are receiving. If you want to win your Social Security case, go with Mr. Kalish-go with the best and you can be with me and after several years of fighting the system receiving benefits and taking care of your health. The best to all of you reading this review and stay strong to a win for your cases!!

I…read morewas first greeted by Kim who was a very pragmatic paralegal whose personality represented a very business-like encounter. I soon learned to be very precise and concise with my words whenever she asks a question. Try to avoid sounding pedantic. Strive to produce direct, clear, concise prose whenever you have a conversation with her. Also, probably wise to detach yourself from any emotions when explaining things. However, after peering through my documents, I was impressed by her legal knowledge in identifying documents before even opening it. As the encounter went on, Kim started to be more receptive as the ice slowly broke. It finally culminated when she asked the attorney, Mr. Homen, himself to come and shake my hand. Alas, a man whose I can attach a face to. He seem very nice and genuine upon my handshake and introduction of him. Kim then placed the fate of my case to Ms. Chi who equally seemed like a nice person upon the first impression. Kim then walked me out the door in a polite Vietnamese way of farewell. Hopefully the individuals who work at this law firm will be equally as tedious and meticulous on my case as my first encounter. P.S. I will probably update this review as this case goes on.

Not sure what or who got in the way. Less communication, unable to reach, less interest, attitude changed, hearing cancelled, no QME request, no communication with doctor, no representation, only conversations.

Joseph and his team were on top of everything from the beginning. Joseph was very up front with his fees and what he expected to result in the case. I was never pressured to do anything and Joseph could not have been more understanding. I can't express my gratitude for these people enough. Joseph was able to negotiate a way more favorable settlement amount than my previous law office whom I'll remain nameless. In closing there are not enough stars to give this firm, and I would recommend everyone to this man. He has changed my family's life.

Throughout the process, Mr. Richards and his paralegal Mr. Arnold Marquez were able to provide the family member with timely answers to questions, especially since "online researches" (I don't get why people take whatever they see online as gospel) often generated contradicting advices and added to confusion. During several critical moments, the family member being represented was misled by "advices" from "friends". It was Arnold who provided timely clarification, explained one's rights, and eased the family member from a severe panic attack. Without them, I would've been overwhelmed and at a loss on how to ease the family member's ceaseless worries. Ultimately (after an expectedly lengthy but well-managed process), Mr. Richards and Mr. Marquez successfully defended my family members' legal rights, and the case was settled with appropriate compensations and necessary medical treatment. Overall, Mr. Richards and Mr. Marquez are to be commended for their professionalism, knowledge of the law, as well as their ability to steer plaintiff away from legal pitfalls (baffling "advices" from "friends" and "know-it-all" relatives without any legal basis). It was a long fight, and at times it felt as if everyone was against the family member, and in the end, the only people who were truly on her side were Mr. Richards and Mr. Marquez.
