We recently visited Leland Snowplay, and while the snow area itself was fun for the most part and most of the staff were helpful and polite, our overall experience was overshadowed by extremely rude behavior from one particular staff member. The issue was mainly with one staff member in the parking lot who was also present in the play area. He was shouting at people at the top of his voice, including families with small children. The tone and aggression were completely unnecessary, and it genuinely scared some of the kids. Families drive for hours to get there, and this place is not cheap. We were told the place was "full" in a very aggressive manner, even though there was still visible parking available and the front desk was continuing to sell tickets. Groups had arrived together, and there is no network reception there to coordinate once separated. Not even allowing people to park briefly -- when space was available -- to figure out their next course of action felt unreasonable and poorly managed. To be clear, this behavior seemed to be limited to this one individual. The staff at the ticket counter and in the snow play area were courteous and pleasant. It honestly felt like this one person may have been overwhelmed or frustrated, but that does not justify shouting at paying customers -- especially around young children. Unfortunately, this kind of experience leaves a lasting impression, and it makes us hesitant to ever return. read more

I had an amazing time at Leland Snowplay! I drove three hours from San Francisco during a storm, and the powder conditions were absolutely perfect. I visited on a Friday with my 5-year-old, and it was a fantastic experience. One of the best things about this place is the free parking and the reduced weekday pricing. When we went, there were only about a dozen families, so we had plenty of space to enjoy ourselves. I can imagine it gets much busier on weekends and holidays. The staff was super friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. I also appreciated that the lodge had food available--we had chicken tenders and a Philly cheesesteak, both of which were solid options. The food was by no means amazing but it was nice to have an option. The lodge itself is a nice spot to warm up, especially with the cozy fireplace. Plus, they sell essentials like gloves and boots in case you need them. My only con is reception is bad and there isn't wifi but in many ways that is probably a good thing so I could focus on spending time with my kid instead of being on the phone. The three-hour drive was totally worth it! I made it there in a Subaru Outback without chains and had no issues on the road. I'm already looking forward to coming back! read more

TLDR: Fun place to spend the day, but they don't seem to be really prepared for large volumes of people and don't have the resources/ right staffing it seems. We were here mid Feb during ski week and I think we lucked out - google said they were closed but their website suggested otherwise for just this week. So, the crowd was not bad and we got in at least 10-15 runs before the kids were cooked. Getting tickets was fine when we arrived at the opening time, parking was fine and never got full. Pros: Not really an overwhelming site , pretty simple with just 3 runs (one is a very tall one). Has some snow play space off to the side. Has magic carpet or lift. Not every tubing place does so I appreciated this! On site they sell boots and gear if you forgot. Food sold on site which is helpful. The usual fries and hot dogs etc for sorta high prices. Bathroom was clean and modern. Plenty of seating indoor and out. The outdoor deck is very exposed though. Nice view of a lake from the deck. It's an easy activity, doesn't require tons of gear, and relatively brainless compared to the skiing we were doing with our kids yesterday. Cons: I can see how this place must turn into lord of the flies on weekends. There's no attendant at the top, the top is very icy / not salted sufficiently, and nobody at the bottom. So, everybody is launching at random times, there's always stragglers loitering at the bottom and somebody is always getting knocked over by a tube coming down. They didn't seem to have great control of the folks on the magic carpet so instead they put up a ton of stanchions. It also isn't cheap. We had the benefit of coming on an uncommon weekday but if this involved longer lines or more chaos I wouldn't think it was worth it. Not all runs were open. They had both kiddie runs open for the first hour after opening then closed one without explanation. Pro tip: Bring your own helmets and goggles! read more

First and last time coming here! Party of 4. 2 adults and 2 kids. We were charged $57 per person since we were all above the 44inches. Tried to see if we could pay the child price for our youngest (tall parents=tall kids) she was against snow and definitely rather be at home but they would let us. That's ok. The lady ended up charging us for 5 people and while waiting to get a refund (because they just sold out/shut the windows) we had two people fighting over whom we should sell our extra ticket to. Parking was a mess, just one guy telling you where to go and to make sure to park close to the car next to you. We went down the two hills once. It was at least 25 min to go down the smaller hill and about 45min to go down the tall mountain. There's no signs that says no double riding so I felt bad a family couldn't go down after waiting 45 min. They had to be escorted down. Lines at the top is a joke, everyone just squeezing through and not waiting their turn. Finally I went down, that was the worst hill ever! So bumpy and I felt like I was going to fly out. There's no one at the bottom telling people to get up and get out to get out of the way. I ended up hitting an older gentlemen that was just sitting there and I was faced backwards I felt so bad. I sat up in the tube but because of how bumpy it was I did slam myself to the ground in the tube and really hurt my bottom/back. I think this place needs to charge less and make it less crowded. $57 to go down to mountains and play with very limited snow, not to mention 20 minute wait for the women's bathroom and no place to eat because people put their stuff on the tables to hold their spot. Not sure why there's so many negative reviews, we had a blast!!!! We came on Sunday after a big storm so there was lots of fresh snow. We got there around 11:30am and there was plenty of parking, not crowded. $60 per adult $30 per child Worth it because there's no time limit, and all ages can go! I even went down with my baby by wearing her in her carrier! My 2 toddlers, 2 and 4, loved it as well! Plenty of tubes everywhere, small and big ones. And what made it sooooo nice was the magic people mover that brings us up the top of the hill! The lodge was warm inside and they sold food/snacks/drinks/alcoholic drinks. And gloves and boots if you need. Prices for the food were reasonable for this type of place. We're definitely coming back next season!! Every worker was nice and friendly too! read more

Wow! What a great day!! This was our very first time here. We visited today Monday 1/6, they day they returned to weekday prices of $39/person after the Christmas holiday/weekend pricing. Our group included me (37F), my mom (61F), and my son (5M almost six and very tall). We arrived around 11:15, easily found parking, and went inside to buy our tickets (no line). Once we got outside, we grabbed our snow tubes and decided to try the small hill first. We were all able to get up the magic carpet easily, set ourselves up, and go down the hill. It's a little more intimidating than you expect it to be, but very fun! Little toddlers were going down with their parents. After a few rides on the small hill, my son said he was ready to try the big hill. Now THAT is intimidating, but what a thrill!! We took a break around 1 and had some lunch (you can bring your own food/drinks/coolers, but there's a kitchen too that serves hot dogs, pretzels, etc). Then we went back out for a few more runs, and ended our day around 2:30. It was a great amount of time in my opinion. I do want to say that I can empathize with the poor reviews. I can imagine it gets very very crowded on weekends or holidays, to the point it might not be enjoyable for the higher price. We also saw one person (an olderish kid, but not quite sure the age) who let go of his handles on the big hill and ended up flying off of his tube. It was a little scary, but he got up quickly and was able to walk the rest of the way down and it didn't look like he got hurt. But please remember you assume all risk, and there's the potential that you could get really hurt. The workers were watching everyone and telling them when to go and when to wait, etc. but once you're over the hump of the hill, gravity comes into play. After that kid fell off, more workers came with their shovels to add snow in the bumpy areas, and it was MUCH MUCH smoother afterward. All in all, this was a great day and we loved it! read more

This place can be a toss up but I know the workers work hard to deal with people and their unrealistic expectations. Everything cost a lot these days but this place can work on pricing and organizing a bit. Giving it four stars because they give a spot for family n friends to enjoy some snow and tubing. 3 stars for pricing . Again they can adjust it a bit but at the same time it's reasonable to keep crowds down but cheap enough so people can afford family or kids fun. 2 stars for the parking but they do try their best to explain to people to park closer to one another so more cars can fit. However people are sometimes ignorant and do what they want . 2 stars for the one line that everyone has to squeeze thru to stand in line to order tickets and food/beverages which can lengthy wait times tremendously. Should have a dedicated line for tickets solely and for food/beverages to speed them up. I don't know why unnoticed some people taking 29 minutes to buy tickets smh . There are very clear with their pricing menu right on the board and their service fee on the credit card machine. People who are just sitting on tables hogging chairs/seats while their kids are in 30 minute plus lines to sled is selfish n freaking ridiculous. Decided to bring the kids to the snow for ski week. The resort opens at 10am and everyone had the same idea of arriving early. There was no one directing parking. The parking lot was a mess and was filled up rather quick. People were making their own parking spots making lanes dead ends and difficult to navigate through unless backing up from the way you came in and hoping no one is behind you. If you are lucky enough to get parking you survived the first obstacle. Second, you have to be sure tickets aren't sold out. We were able to get tickets during their second session at 2pm and killed time by eating in their cafeteria. The lunch rush is at 12pm so either come before or after to avoid the crowd. Not only are you trying to hunt down a table; people will be putting their belongings on the table taking up space. Everyone is out on their own here, definitely no consideration. Food isn't the greatest. They had soup, chicken tenders, fries, chili cheese fries, burgers and a few more options. You order from the counter and are handed a pager for pickup. Condiments are self served. More people left by the second session. There were 2 lines to go tubing. Lines moves quickly. One line was for the thrill seekers above 44" and one was for little ones below 44". Different pricing depending on height. They had a bunch of tubes available to grab and use and a conveyor belt for the convenience of us not needing to drag the tube up the hill. They also had the option of all day play. We ended up crashing into a lady just standing around at the bottom of the hill where you aren't supposed to be standing, causing her to fly into the air and fall directly onto my 8 year old's head. Another great year at Leland! We adore this place, it is so much fun, worth every penny, and the staff is very kind but firm with guests who can't seem to figure out the safety protocols and endanger other guests (a.k.a. the people who complain that they're rude.) We appreciate their attentiveness and always have a great time. We got lucky this year, it was a quieter Saturday and we enjoyed a lot of fresh snow on the drive up thanks to last week's blizzard. We highly recommend and will continue to recommend Leland as the perfect spot if you live in the Bay to take your kids to enjoy the snow. Even with less than ideal winter conditions, the entire team worked so hard to make it an unforgettable season for guests. You could truly see the effort and care they put into making sure everyone still had an amazing time. The staff is what makes this place shine. Amanda was absolutely incredible. She was so helpful, welcoming, and even gave us great recommendations for local gems to check out on our way home. That personal touch made the day even better. The outside crew, especially Froggy and Franky, were fantastic. They were friendly, organized, and clearly put safety first at all times. You feel taken care of the entire time you're there. And when I took a tumble out of my tube, Grace, the EMT on staff, was so attentive and reassuring. Having that level of care right there gave us such peace of mind. It's really awesome that they charge nearly double just because a child is taller. $57 for a young kid, even if they're only on the lower hill, is outrageous. To make matters worse, parents end up paying full price just to supervise their children--because trust me, the minimal staff can't be trusted to ensure their safety. For that kind of money, you'd expect at least decent customer service, or any customer service for that matter. I'm baffled as to how anyone could recommend this place as "affordable" or a "good value." Also, their website FAQs are completely inaccurate: they do not offer 2-hour sessions, and the listed prices are incorrect. And if you were hoping to relax while your kid is on the hill (which, as mentioned, is not advisable), there's no WiFi, and food options are negligible. This was my very first experience (as a gown adult) in the snow. My family and I took our kids here - also their 1st snow experience too. I'm not a big downhill person, so I didn't go tubing. But my youngest son and I spent the entire time in the free snow play area. It's not huge, and the snow was on the icy side, but there's plenty of snow to play with. All of the adults went tubing, and my oldest son went on the kiddie hill. He thought he'd be scared, but he ended up loving it and going 7 times. Mixed in with a lunch break, I think we spent about 6 hours there going tubing and playing in the snow. Some parts of the snow were dirty - and again, the free play area isn't very big. But it was enough to keep the kids (and me) occupied for a long, long time. When it was time to go, my youngest son threw a tantrum because he wanted to "stay here forever" and "live here." We considered it. But in the end, we made the decision to take him home with us. Still, any place that can have a toddler longing to stay forever must be doing something right. read more

Let me start this review by saying my experience here has been during the weekdays. This place can be extremely busy on weekends. The parking lot is not very large or organized. A smaller vehicle makes it easier to park and get in/out. When you walk into the main building, they have several picnic style tables that can accommodate a fair amount of people. There is a gas fireplace that puts off a fair amount of heat. There are tables and chairs on the deck outside. They do serve food, which consist of the following food: High Sierra Footlongs & Corn Dogs, Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches, Chicken Strips, Grilled Cheese Sandwiches & PB&J Sandwiches, French Fries, Chips, Assorted Candy, Soup of the Day Warm Chilli, Nachos, Soft Pretzels, Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Mochas, Hot Cider, Water, Powerade, Soft Drinks, and assorted beers & wines. If you want all day access to both hills, the current price per person is $35 during weekdays. You have to be at least 44" to tube on the big hills. The current price per person for the small hills and kids under 44" is $25 during weekdays. Weekend and holiday pricing is $49 and & $29. They do not charge for persons who are spectating from the outside deck only. They are typically open from December through April. However, this can be weather dependent. They offer two different tubing slopes. The first one consists of smaller hills which are perfect for first timers, older persons and children. The staff allow people to tube down together and hold hands to form a "chain." They have a convenient conveyor belt that transports you and your tube to the top of the small hill. For those looking for more of a thrill, take one of the tubes with a black bottom to the left side. There is a cable system that will transport you and your tube to the top of the big hills. These hills are fast, fun and quite a fun thrill. When you are done tubing, they have a general snow play area as well. If you are looking to spend some time in the snow, this is a fun place. read more

Was looking forward to trying this place Drove 1.45 hrs to get here from Arnold. Arrived around 1145am no parking and Super long line just to get tickets! About 1215 they stopped selling tickets and said sold out!! Drizzling the whole time. They said might start selling again around 130. Kids wanted to wait in line as they only had a few families before them and already waited so long. I took a nap in car! Then my wife said they were selling tickets inside where they sold food!? That was about 110pm. I walked in and went straight to the front and asked. Lady said no not yet. but I said folks are walking outside and telling us they tickets from inside?? I said a whole bunch of folks are waiting out in the rain outside I think it was horrible that they would start selling inside without notifying those in line outside. They looked confused and I was pissed off. They said they would ask about what and where they will sell again. Not sure they would open ticket booth outside!? I said wtf. Then tell those that have been waiting over an hour in the cold drizzling rain!! A few minutes later my wife said they opened up outside. 15 minutes later 2 of the 4 kids came down. Looked up and saw they closed the lane and the other two was just waiting. Over 20-30 minutes!!! My kids said they were told it was unsafe and they needed to patch the bottom. They asked about living to another lane but wasn't allowed. So other lane just kept letting others down while making this lane wait?? So unorganized and unfair. Finally all 4 headed back up the hill. Wife and I went inside to use restroom. Which took forever for the women's bathroom. 35 minutes later we went outside to see them and saw they were on top waiting. I thought maybe that was their 3rd or 4th run. When they finally came down the kids said they were done. I asked how many runs after the first? Only 1. It took over 40-45 minutes. So arriving at 1145am left at 345 pm paid $57 per kid to only get 2 runs in. Ridiculous!! What a wasted day. read more

Our family of 4 went here today, be warned and be prepared to stand in lines for 30-45+ minutes with people cutting in line and ZERO structure. It made for such a frustrating day after spending soo much money. This could have been avoided with more people working here and some semblance of an order to the line once you made it up the hill-- may I suggest having a partition so that the people are split into 2 lines perhaps? Literally anything could be better than everyone trying to cut in front of one another!! I don't think we will go back.. or if we do it has to be during the week on a slow day... This simply wasn't worth it the way they have it organized. Also, the lodge was soo darn small and the line for the bathroom was so long... I just don't think these people are equipped for the amount of people they allowed to enter. Either up your game Leland or don't allow so many people to get tickets in a day! Sad day, wish we just found a random snow hill to sled on and didn't waste $200+ :( I will mention, all of the employees we came into contact today were very nice, I felt bad for them they all seemed overwhelmed they need more help. read more

Just came back from trying this snow park for the first time! It's actually closer to us than Tahoe and we've never been here and we were pleasantly surprised. We got there right at 10am when they open and thank goodness cuz the place got packed! I like that you have the entire day about 7 hours and I think we got our monies worth even leaving at 3pm to beat the rush home. Since we got there early not too many people and we got plenty of runs in. We paid about more to go tubing in Tahoe and this place has a conveyer belt that takes u to the top of the hill! To go on the highest hill they clip you on and again, no effort needed well not much to be to the top. The hills were great for a rush, perfect for our small kiddos. My oldest 7 yo wanted to try the highest one and of course she got scared once we got to the top. It is super steep and fast! I was a little hesitant but with some positive reinforcement she mustered up the courage to go down and she said it was too scary to try again. I closed my eyes the entire way down and I liked the rush but yah, didn't go again. The only thing g about this place is not much staff on the hills, unlike the one we went to in Tahoe. Leland there is no staff helping push down nor helping at the bottoms to get people out of the way, kind of ride at your own risk which was posted everywhere. So just be on alert people going fast. The lady punching tickets was a little grouchy as we clicked our tickets onto our jackets (we were not told otherwise) and she seemed annoyed to have to cut them off and made sure to clip them on some other item of clothing, I supposed to prevent people from ticket sharing? I saw her clip them onto folks shoes! Lol. Love that's there also a little snow play area for those who don't want to tube. The lodge cute and clean, definitely will be back. read more

Never am I ever coming to this place again. Money wasted, 40 dollars only to get 2 slides of snow, they won't even let you use the snow to have a snowball fight or make a snowman, all I got to do was slide on the same slides for two hours. Later in the afternoon when the park closes which is way to early, we went out to play in the snow right in front of our Airbnb, before we even stepped on the snow my friends and I heard a security yell "that's private property, get off of the snow" when we own the property for two days. The times are from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and my friends and I only played for 2 hours before leaving off to our Airbnb. There are to many rules, one is don't touch the snow, only the playing snow, well the playing snow is horror, dry hard snow, I know it is march but still, how come the snow people are stepping on/ used for rides/ not in use are not allowed to be touched. We asked the staff if we could go to the snow that was not in use but still in THEIR property, it looked as if some one has went sleding on it but will we were treated with nothing but rudeness of a stiff no. All they are doing is yelling at people to get off of the snow. I will never ever even come again before this messy snow park to be fixed. Until than I do warn people to not waste there money and go to Pinecrest or Arnold for a better snow experience. Do not recommend 1 star. I even wish I could put a 0 read more

This was a great tubing area for kids and adults. Any snow area that has conveyors bringing up to the tiptop, so I don't have to lug my kids and myself up manually??? Sign me up! The staff is friendly and all the want is for everyone to be safe. So after you slide down that hill, make an effort to move out of the danger zone, so you do t get hurt and that you don't hold up others from having fun. We went here on the last day of their season, last Sunday and we had a blast. If you have kids over 44 inches (4-5 yo), I suggest the adult tickets. The tickets for adults were about $45 and it gave us access to both the tubing areas. Which gave us a variety of sliding options and it includes the tubes and sleds. The kiddie area, smaller hill and an airport type of conveyor to help you get up the top with your tube. The higher sled area had a hook to bring you and your tube up the hill. So much fun! They sell hot food and drinks (alcohol too). If you don't want to go tubing, just grab a drink and chill inside or outside on their deck. No entrance fee for that. I've been going here every year for the past 4 years, I've always looked forward to going every year. It's a great place for families to visit. This year though today when we got there 1/11/25 around 10am it was packed per usual which is expected, there was a lady managing the parking spots I understand trying to get everyone to fit in the spaces but common lady no need to be rude to people like who are just getting there to enjoy a getaway. She's there yelling at you "straighten up!!! Straighten up!!! No!!! You have to line up with the car!!" Like have some patience the past years we've gone there was no one to manage the parking and it's always been perfectly fine! She was such a ray of sunshine :) Then as we line up to pay to recive our tags to enter the lady's at the windows were rude and unprofessional yelling at the kids to get off the piles of snow that were by the lines saying "we're not going to let your family in" they're F'ing kids leave them alone and it's embarrassing having them yell that out. Like they're there to play with snow! Like HELLOOO!??!! Thennnn the people working managing the lines that go up the mountain were yelling at a women that was at the bottom of the hill "TO MOVE!" while she was assisting to a little girl move out of the way, understanding it can be dangerous if there's people going down and they can be in the way. My issue was he goes out of his way to yell out something unnecessary saying " Move or go home we don't need your money we have plenty of customers!!" My only complaint with this place, and it's a deal breaker, is that they pack too many people in and the lines take way too long. I drove a really long way and paid a LOT of money so that I could stand in line for more than half the time I was there. They need to add more lifts to this place. The way it works is that they provide a people mover that takes everyone up to the top of the beginner hills. The hills are very well groomed and the over is in excellent shape. But the lines were so long that my kids finally said to me that they just wanted to go play in the snow somewhere else. Do yourself a favor and don't go during Xmas break. Too crowded. read more

Was a great trip and we had a great time. The lifts make it a much more enjoyable experience compared to if you had to hike up a hill. Love the fact that there is a little kid friendly hill and the big kid/adult hill so everyone is able to enjoy. The kids also loved the free play area for snow ball fights and snowman building. Bathrooms where clean and there is a snack shack for food options. Forgot your gloves or need sunglasses? They had basics like that too! The guy working the kiddie hill lift was funny and did a great job. The woman doing safety check introduction was very nice too. -1 star for lack of communication from staff at the top of the big hill. There was no clear communication about when you could go down. Had to hear it from another guest what the rules were and even then I wasn't sure. There needed to be a stronger staff presence to ensure safety and communication. (FYI- Masking signs where up all over but no strict enforcement was happening. Staff wore masks but less than 50% of guests had masks on. I did see staff spraying down tubes after guest dropped them and they had hand sanitizer stations in places so they are trying to keep things clean. We went as a family and come back with broken back from tubing. This is not the first tubing for all and we aware of the risk and other challenges comes with tubing. However, this location doesn't have enough help at the top of the hill where you slide from. Only one guy standing there with no clue and yelling at people while there is no one there bottom to coordinate. So it is chaos and longer wait time and not worth of time and money. The higher slide has no track and unleveled hence rider's tail bone hit hard more than once because they didn't pay attention to the surface of the slide. Total waste of money and time. read more
