I wasn't sure what to expect before Lela and I started working together. My understanding of a coach came from my past experiences playing sports. I approached the experience of working with Lela without expectations and with an open mind. Wow, was I impressed. I never realized how genuinely impactful someone could be as a coach. Lela shifted my life path. I was 19 when I began working with her and would 100% recommend any other teen or young adult to work with her. Especially young people who are open to hearing new ideas, and accepting guidance. She can write like a magician. This fact was most helpful when I was in a situation in which I needed to write a professional biography. I had weekly sessions with her to collaborate, edit what I had to write, and understand where the most appropriate places might be to share my work. Together, we actually realized that I didn't just want to write a professional bio, I wanted to share a much bigger story about my past. Just two years ago, when I was 17, I was in a near fatal car accident. I broke multiple bones and I had a TBI (traumatic brain injury). I had to relearn how to walk, talk, read, and write. When I started working with Lela, I had healed and was in my first year of university in Madrid. I wanted to work on a professional bio to use for business venture ideas while I completed my studies. Then we dug deeper into my story. Lela helped me see that I wanted to share all that I had learned from this experience in a more impactful way. So, we took that bio and slowly transformed it into a Ted Talk. I'm now in conversation with a TEDx leader, with plans to share this talk on stage later this year. I cannot believe how synchronistic all of this is, going from a short bio to a profound Ted Talk. Working with Lela enabled me to write my story, and reflect on how my accident changed me. It helped me heal and grow. Then to be able to bring this story to a larger audience, it all feels like I'm building toward something powerful. I started working with her in October 2019 and I continue to work with her now, in May 2020, which reveals how highly I value her as a coach. She's been incredibly flexible, working with me digitally and internationally, while I study abroad. She's given me clarity I wasn't even aware I was in need of. I was able to focus on my path with her help, confidently seeing where my ideas could lead me if I committed to them. This was something I had not learned how to do before. There were opportunities in my life that I didn't even know were there until she made me realize they were actually present. I'm really thankful I became aware of these opportunities and got a more focused and concrete idea around my own life while still a teenager. Lela has a natural talent for being a coach! I'll be honest and say when I first agreed to be coached by her when she had just completed her coaching training, I didn't expect much. I have utilized coaches in the past who had just finished their training and they were just "ok". From the first session with Lela, I was blown away by her natural talent to tap into your strengths and where you are able to make concrete changes in your life to reach your potential. I am so glad we found Lela! My wife and I had been struggling with outside family issues in our relationship for a few months and we were really stuck and couldn't move past it. Lela spent time with us to help give us an outside perspective. It helped us realize that we were both actually arguing for the same things!! We just weren't listening to each other. Lela gave us the insight we needed to help communicate and understand that we have similar needs, just different ways of expressing it. In this new world of life optimization, self awareness is the most important thing. Lela talks a lot about being aware of your inner narrative and recognizing that you are able to change your own story. Lela is an incredibly thoughtful and knowledgeable coach. I went into career coaching thinking we'd only focus on my professional life, but she takes a much more holistic approach and believes that your personal life feeds into your professional life (which makes a lot of sense). After each session, she'd give me an exercise (or a few) to do so that I could come back to the next session with things to address. The exercises helped me get clarity around my goals, develop a plan to achieve the goals incrementally, and she held me accountable to see them through. It was kismet that brought Lela into our town and grace that allowed me to find the exact person that was equipped to help me along in an extremely challenging time.
